Catholic Teachings About Mary, the mother of Jesus?

According to history, in the year 431, the Council of Ephesus took the word of Mary, Jesus' mother as "Mother of God" and advocated the worship of Mary at that time. In the year 1854, Pope Pius IX proclaimed that the "Virgin Mary" was born without sin. In 1950 Pope Pius XII proclaimed the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. " Which obviously means that she did not die, but went to heaven in a mysterious way, avoiding death. These facts are well documented in the writings Catholics. Non-Catholics believe Mary was a chosen vessel of God, and therefore be much appreciated by his obedience to God in heaven. My question is: Why does the Catholic church, several centuries, add to its doctrine on Mary? Why worship? Mother Angelica of EWTN says that Mary is Co-Redemptrix with the Lord Jesus. I hear it often. I wonder where is the biblical truth to this? Is there any scriptural basis for this? Thoughtful answers, please.

Mary is not adored! I am tired of hearing that if you are a Catholic and worship of Mary, is a sin. Mary is an honor and can be prayed to. The Catholic church has not confirmed that she did not die all we know is that he did get to heaven Assumpta. The reason the Catholic church added to his doctrine is that the most studied to find the most answers.

The cult of Mary has never been defended in the history of the Church. We do and have always believed that only God should be worshiped. Mary and the saints are venerated, which means an honor.
The Assumption of Mary, when in fact die. She was assumed body and soul into heaven at that very moment, because God does not want his flesh was corrupted.

    >> According to the story, in the year 431, the Council of Ephesus took the word of Mary, Jesus' mother as "Mother of God" and advocated the worship of Mary at that time. <<
Are you quoting the Council of Ephesus to support its assertion that "advocating the cult of Mary at that time?
As for the "Mother of God, even the very anti-Catholic CARM seem to recognize that the denial of this is heresy:
      —————
      Nestorianism
Nestorianism is the error that Jesus is two different people. Heresy is the name of Nestorius, who was born in Syria and died in 451 AD, who advocated this doctrine. Nestorius was a monk who became the patriarch of Constantinople and repudiated the Marian title "Mother of God." He stated that Mary was the mother of Christ only in regard to their humanity. The Council of Ephesus in 431 was held to address the issue and declared that Jesus was one person in two distinct and inseparable natures: divine and human.
Nestorius was deposed as Patriarch and sent to Antioch, then Arabia, and Egypt. Nestorianism survived until around 1300.
The problem with Nestorianism is that it threatens the atonement. If Jesus was two persons, then that one died on the cross? If this is the "human person", then the atonement is not of divine, and therefore sufficient to cleanse the quality of our sins.http: / / http://www.carm.org / apologetics / heresies …

these "facts" are not well documented, as ever, and I mean never advocated the worship of Mary.
Jesus said: "As to the least of my brothers you do unto me" we who are in the Body of Christ are all the co-redemtrix

Mary is the mother of Jesus, and we have to show their respect they deserve. The Catholic Church NOT worship Mary. She, like all other saints, is given the respect I owe, because it enabled Jesus to live on this earth.

And the oldest known request to Mary. The Sub Tunm Paresidum goes back at least to 300 AD, which reads
We fly to your patronage O Holy Theotokosz not despise our request in our needs, but always offer all the dangers, if ever glorious and blessed Virgin 300 AD

  11. john w says:

As explained to you before, the title of Co-redemptrix is not official Catholic doctrine. Mother Angelica is not officially speak of the Catholic Church is an entertainment television.
The title "Mother of God" (ie, "Theotokos") was and is accepted by many Protestants, including Anglicans and Lutherans.

  12. PaulCyp says:

Wrong! Council has defended the worship of anyone other than God. That would be idolatry, that the Catholic Church absolutely condemns all forms!

Catholics do not worship Mary and the saints. Why would we go Catholics around telling people that if they do not really worship Mary?
Prayer is absolutely different from worship. Yes, you can pray to Mary (well, actually she pray for us), but not of their religion. You can not accuse Catholics like this based on your own assumptions! We are asking Mary to pray to God for our needs, like you might ask your friend or a fellow member of the congregation to pray for her's. Only difference is that your friend is here on earth, so to communicate it through speech. Mary is in heaven, so they communicate through their prayers.
Worship is not about the physical manifestations exhibited during the process - this is more of a mentality that is being worshiped. If we mentally venerate Mary, what they are doing just that. Others can not go around saying different just because you think what we're doing! What are you saying you're an authority than the thoughts in my head that I?
That is so ridiculous and rude to me saying that it is more than worshiping God. "Hey! You are not worshiping one God! I adore Te 3: a father, a son and a holy spirit. "
Now, in reality, I know that God is worshiped as the Holy Trinity (I think this also Catholics). But is not it annoying when people that this defendant, as they accuse us Catholics worship Mary?
I can not make the next most important point: Catholics do not worship anyone or anything other than the one true God that exists in the form of the Holy Trinity. While certainly give much honor of Mary and the saints, this should not be confused with worship.
To clarify this misconception, consider this scenario: What do you do during the National Anthem? Encourages all Americans to stand, face the flag, remove their hat, put your hand on your heart, and recite the words that are sung. However, this is not worship, right? You are just giving honor to his country, and thousands and thousands of soldiers who sacrificed their lives for freedom for their descendants.
This is almost the same as with the Catholic saints and Mary. Do not worship, as it is not a god, but give them the honor they deserve for the great lengths they took for their beliefs and the improvement and promotion of their faith. Many of the Saints took the ultimate sacrifice, their lives, to maintain their Christian beliefs Catholic truth in their hearts. Certainly, the least we can pay it with honor.

  18. imacatho says:

The Bible says that Mary is the mother of Jesus Christ. The Bible says that Jesus Christ is God. The Catholic Church simply used these verses from the Bible and a bit of logic to say that Mary is the Mother of God. What is the problem?
All proclamations listed no sudden revelations made by the Pope to unsespecting world. Werejust simply proclaim that the Pope that the Church and believed, for example:
      + + The Assumption
Catholics believe in the hypothesis of the body of the Virgin Mary into heaven after his death. She does not "prevent death."
      John 19:26-27 says:
When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple whom he loved it, told his mother, "Woman, behold your son." Then he said to the disciple: "Behold your mother." And from that hour the disciple (John) took her to his house.
The minutes of the Ecumenical Council of Ephesus in 431 CE indicate that four to six years after the death and resurrection of Jesus, John and Mary met to Ephesus, and for a short period of time was in the building of a section that is currently in the Church of the Virgin Mary today.
Later, John moved to the Virgin Mary to a house he had prepared for her in Bulbul Dagi (Bulbul Hill). He lived there until the end of his earthly life.
St. John of Damascus (PG, I, 96) later wrote:
St. Juvenal, Bishop of Jerusalem, at the Council of Chalcedon (451), released to the emperor and Marcia Pulcheria who desires to possess the body of the Mother of God, that Mary died in the presence of all the apostles, but his tomb , when opened, at the request of St. Thomas, was found empty, where the Apostles concluded that the body was taken to heaven.
This ancient belief was only formalized in 1950 by Pope. http://www.turktour.com/virgin_mary.htmlhttp://www.newadvent.org/cathen/02006b.h
      With love in Christ.

  19. Adoptive Father says:

    In no particular order:
Catholicism does not include sola scriptura. The Bible does say that there is more than is Christianity in the Bible.
      John 21:25
Jesus did many other things too. If each of them written, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for books that would be written.
The Bible states that the apostolic teaching is the same as writing.
      2 Thessalonians 2:15
Then, brethren, stand firm and hold to the teachings transmitted to you, either verbally or by letter.
Catholics believe that Mary died, the Assumption of Mary, of course, does not mean it never died.
We have evidence that Mary became the Mother of God for at least 431. These are not new teachings about Mary. Jesus is God, Mary is your mother, so she is the Mother of God.
Mary can be seen as co-redemptrix that cooperated with Jesus as Savior. There are other co-redeemers including John the Baptist. Only Jesus is God, we do not believe Mary or John the Baptist are equal to God or Jesus.
      No worship Mary.http: / / en.wikipedia.org / wiki / Theotokos

  20. vic91106 says:

I think these changes are the result of theological examination, rather than analysis of the scriptures.
If we accept the premise that the Bible does not contain all the details of Jesus' life, ministry, etc then it is legitimate to try to deduce or reason for the gaps in information.
The train of logic that results in the divinity of Mary, is long. Too long for this forum. However, it is explained in a number of places, and will not take long to find a series of articles on it.
Suffice it to say that the divinity of Mary, is the result of considering the things he says in the Bible, and draw conclusions from them. This, rather than explained somewhere in the Bible.

  21. cashelma says:

His statement, "which advocates the worship of Mary at that moment," is wrong. No and never have venerated Mary.
The Church takes the teaching of divine revelation - the written word, dubbed the Scripture and the oral or written, known as "Tradition."
The doctrine of Sola Scriptura originated with Martin Luther and was in the 16th century.
Luther's doctrine of "Scripture alone" is a true restoration of biblical truth, or rather the enactment of a person's personal views on the Christian authority.
Luther was passionate about his beliefs, and that was successful in spreading them, but these facts alone do not guarantee that what he taught was correct.
Thus the doctrine of Sola Scriptura originated with Martin Luther
Scripture and tradition are the sources of inspiration for the Christian doctrine, the Church - a historical and visible entity goes back to St. Peter and the apostles in an unbroken succession - is the infallible interpreter and teacher of Christian doctrine.

  22. King Julian says:

First, it is contradictory that they accept the Bible and yet reject the authority of the Catholic Church. Naturally, the Christian should not quote the Bible at all, because they have no way of determining which books are inspired, unless, of course, accept the teaching authority of the Catholic Church. Why? Because the Catholic Church compiled the Bible through the Holy Spirit. It is a historical fact that the Catholic Church held the Bible in canonical order, is at present (under the guidance of the Holy Spirit)
Matrin Luther himself admits, "We are obliged to give much to the papists (Catholics) - that have the word of God we have received from them, otherwise we should have known nothing about it." Luther must admit that Christian Bible to the efforts of the Catholic Church.
Along with that, Jesus did not create a church based on "Sola Scripture" (Scripture alone). In fact, the Bible tells us that we need more than the Bible itself. The Bible confirms that not everything that Jesus said and did is recorded in Scripture (John 21:25) and that we must cling to the oral tradition, preached the Word of God (1 Corinthians 11:2, 1 Peter 1:25 ).
Scripture tells us that Christ left a Church with divine authority to govern in his name "(Matthew 16:12-20, 28:19-20, John 14:16). The Bible also tells us that "the sacred tradition that fallow with Scripture."
That said, I can get to how the Church has the authority to make decisions as dogmatic. Here are some Bible verses that are used in support of the authoritative, the Church that Christ established.
Matthew 28:18-20 - Jesus all the powers delegated to the Apostles
John 20:23 - power to forgive sins
1 Corinthians 11:23-24 - to offer the sacrifice
Luke 10:16 - the power to speak with the voice of Christ
Matthew 18:18 - the power to legislate
Matthew 18:17 - the power to discipline
Verse and in support of the Infallible Church
John 16:13 - guided by the Holy Spirit into all truth
John 14:26 - Holy Spirit to teach and remind them of everything
Luke 10:16 - talk with the voice
1 Timothy 3:15 - the church known as the pillar and foundation of truth
Acts 15:28 - Apostles speak with the voice of the Holy Spirit
Matthew 28:20 - I am always with you
St. Irenaeus (200 AD) "ford of the Church, the Spirit of God, and where the spirit of God, the Church and everygrace. The Spirit, however, is true.
We have to rely on dogmatic decisions are made through the power of the Holy Spirit.
CORRECTION: The Catholics do not worship Mary. We venerate her.

  23. moh2050 says:

(005:116) - AND [Day care] when Allah said: "O Jesus, Son of Mary, I tell people, 'Take me and my mother as gods besides Allah? "He said," You're excited! It was not for me to say that I have no right. If I had said, he would have known. You know what is inside me, and I do not know what is within you. In fact, it is You who is Knower of the Unseen
(005117) - I did not say to them except what You commanded me - to worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord. And I was a witness of them while I was among them, but when you brought me up, You were the Observer over them, and You are, above all, witnesses
