Clergy as we will be serving the people. The Pope is the pastor of the Church and serve with humility to those who are faithful if a new believer or any other follower of our Lord and Savior.

We are all equal in the eyes of God, the Pope is called the Servant of the Servants of God. This means that although at the highest authority, the voice of Jesus Christ on Earth, is the lowest within the Church.

Jesus shows how the leader of his Church should be a servant of the church and kneel before the abandonment of his life for the Church. Pope is a saint in vivo .. that has to live according to the gospel .. receiving the power of the church through the apostolic succession .. Protestants who do not follow any pastor .. because it can be a leader of the church .. paul when you set the rules for being a leader or a bishop in the church.
We are all equal in the eyes of God. BTW, we need to re-read in the inquisition, I do not know if you realize that the majority of which was purely political by the Spanish monarchy.

The papacy is a position in the Church, as a layman is normal. Both are necessary and people of both aspects of life can become saints.

God does not recognize the Catholic saints as the institution at all, actually stems from a terrible finish its final plan of God. In Scripture is called the great harlot who sits on many waters and accused of being drunk in the blood of saints and martyrs.
