Catholics: Honestly, how are you honest during confession?

You describe in detail his sin, or make your stay more general about it? Do you sometimes have things backwards? Did you ever fear that your priest will judge him? I will attend my first confession next week, and just wanted an idea of what other people with experiences that are.
  thanks:)

  1. IAC2006 says:

Given the fact that God already knows what I did … I am 100% honest. If you knowingly and willingly hold anything, it is a sin and makes the confession invalid.
No. I do not fear the priest will judge me.
We must provide the priest with the smallest detail, as needed (you can go into his mind before his confession, when you examine your conscience).
The confession can be as simple as "I have sinned against the 4th commandment twice. Priests may ask a few details, but again, just enough to understand what it is.
Remember that the priest is only an instrument of Jesus. You are truly himself confesses that Jesus is Love and Mercy incarnate.

      Do not be afraid.

  2. Jesus, I trust in You! says:

I confess, when asked to elaborate what I do, but rarely ask for more details priests, I have nothing to do it again because it would result in the sin of sacrilege, and all confessed sins unforgiven.
To make a good confession must be humble, sincere, and everything.
Trust me its not judge a priest or cree mal de ti. There is nothing you can say he has not heard many times and probably much worse.

  3. Pray for the Redskins says:

You do not have to be specific at all. Very general descriptions are good. You can even download the 10 commandments, if you wish. I broke twice # 3, # 8 once, etc. If you want to request clarification.
No, I have nothing again. If I did then it would be a confession invalid.
No, not afraid sentence. The priests have this amazing ability to forget. Besides, if he is telling anyone that his confession was de-frocked.

  4. Lilith D says:

I was raised Catholic. (I am no longer one), but when I went I was honest. Give each small detail, but the priest told me about the bad things he had done. I have not been to confession in over 20 years. I probably give the poor a heart attack if I confessed to everything I've done over the past 20 years, if I left now.
Do not worry about the priest to judge. So far he has heard almost everything.

  5. Born-Again Catholic says:

What would be the point of going to confession if they were going to celebrate something? To do so deliberately invalid, and would mean having to return again and confess not only that, but that was again held.
Look, everybody is a little nervous, but it feels good to admit out loud to someone else the things we have done, said or failed to do. It requires humility. But the priest is not there to judge. What he is doing is listening in as you confess to Jesus and ask his forgiveness. The priest is there to help you make a good confession, and not on their own authority, but by that given to him by Christ, give you absolution.
I can tell you that when I leave the church after confession, I feel light and clean and free. You will be fine. And not going anywhere near as bad as you anticipate.

  6. Kailtin says:

I'm very honest. I will not go into details, however.
I sometimes have things backwards. I think if you're truly sorry for what you did, the absolution of his soul is clean.

  7. DougLawr says:

Few details are needed, but all mortal sins must be confessed, without exception, and his confession is invalid and basically poorer.

  8. Coup De Grâce says:

Congratulations on your 1st confession. Do not worry, I do not have anything that he has not heard before, and tend to listen again. As they age, it is easier and easier.

  9. BlueCrus says:

I have not gone to confession since I first communion. Think really hard about what he did wrong, even if it is a long time ago.
