First explain to your mom when you go to church, likes to spend time before the Mass began to pray and meditate. Also explain the mass at its sole before she goes with you. Frankly, I do not know if someone other than the priest and deacon may give a blessing. Ie, the extraordinary ministers. I do not think they can. I hope this helps. Blessings and hugs

An Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist is not a priest, and therefore can not provide the same kind of blessing from a priest. Furthermore, someone who is not really a Catholic should not rise at all. Get in line, even if you do not get, is like saying "I believe in everything the Catholic Church professes." As his mother Methodist no cree everything the Catholic Church professes. Even if it is "logistically difficult", have him sit while people pass. Tell him not to speak before the mass at its Explain why. To explain to people that it is rude. Say it is not a choice and if she does not like then do not have to attend. No matter what your "feelings", ie not doing any good to pretend his church is different than what it really is just to make her happy. I have found that a firm Catholic wins more respect (grudgingly that is) other than a wishy washy one does.

This is an abuse that occur in all Catholic Churches, in the church when we're there to pray and pay tribute to him who is to see Jesus. When we go to another church that does not really show it as a meeting place or a room and the whole world uses it as such. When we are in the Catholic Church, Jesus is present and the feeling is different. We should be praying and devoting our time to be with him. Although there are people trying to pray in the church and there is so much noise going on around you, it becomes very difficult. All reverence has shifted in our churches and many people do not respect the sanctity of our church. At the low of our faith, and reverence of our Lord was in the tent, not make it the center of our faith, has diminished the sacred feelings you get when you attend. A label is not taught in the church. Everything depends on us to begin to teach our children why we must first honor and glory of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. this and this alone is the only reason we are there. God bless. Ministers of the Eucharist can give blessings, but a blessing from a priest is very special. I say God bless the people all the time. Explain to your mom is there to pray to our Lord and talk to her after the mass has ended. But you should greet him in the tabernacle now. I am sure you will respect your wishes.

"If a person approaches an extraordinary minister of the Eucharist with his arms crossed, give the blessing as a priest? Or is it appropriate to do if you go through the line with the Extraordinary Minister>> When the line of Holy Communion, but his intention is simply to receive a blessing, do not forget that (if you believe or not), the consecrated bread and wine are the Body and Blood of Christ. You are standing, literally, in the presence - the real presence, as it relates to Catholicism - Jesus. Is it possible to be in His Presence, not literally get nothing like the blessing, if that is what you are looking for Jesus? The priest is more likely to give a blessing, and quickly sign of the cross or something. I do not know if a special minister to pass through the "bubble." In any case, it is God who gives the blessing, if blessed by the priest, a minister extraordinary, or simply by the fact that in the real presence of Jesus Christ himself. <<Background: My mom (Methodist) said he wants to attend Mass with me. It is logistically difficult to stay on the bench, because our church is filled to overflowing with standing alone. Related material: When I attend church with her, provided that the chats at the bank before the service starts. I can not tolerate this nuisance in his church, but how to deal with it in the Catholic Church? Others in the parish to do so, but I do not want. Ignore it?>> You can not just ignore her mother. That would be disrespectful and rude. Ideally, the Catholic Mass, the people come before the Mass begins and spend a few minutes in silent prayer person, by the spiritual readiness celibrate to church and / or hear the choir practice a song or two. Some people are more committed than others in prayer at this time. For those who are not, it's disrespect for them to engage in conversation, because it might disrupt some of them who are trying to pray. Make this point to his mother. Hopefully he understands. <<Give Curt answers?>> No, that is not good either. Ignoring his mother ro respond Curt answers could think twice before they go to another Catholic Mass with you - and you do not want to do anything that would lead his mother outside the church. Really? <<Explain beforehand that this is a moment of reverence and worhsip, but then explain how the church was abuzz with chatter?>> Abuzz with talk, what you mean? Are you talking about the age of silent prayer before Mass? The fact is, you can not keep quiet during all this time. Make a point to his mother that the other user boxes should not speak at that time either. Can not justify the evil before drawing others out. To his mother would be a mistake if it thinks it would be good for her until the chat, simply because others are too. A bad one does not become law if enough people do it. <<She has some anti-Catholic sentiment, so I'm nervous about the whole thing.>> Look on the bright side. Your mother is still showing some semblance of support to the Catholic attending Mass with you. That's more than what you can expect from most other anti-Catholics. <<Anti-Catholic rant to find somewhere else (like maybe in the mirror). I really need serious answers. Thank you! :)>> Does your mom likes to read? "We Worship: A Guide to the Catholic Mass" by Father Oscar Lukefahr. This book explains the Catholic Mass, it's creation, its history and development, and so on. It is a short book and easy reading. Perhaps your mother would be interested. The more you know about the Mass, the more you get it when you go. See what I mean? Your mother is closer to the Kingdom these nuts.
