I think it would be good to receive Communion with an abcessed tooth. Sounds like you are in pain too. Have you contacted a dentist for some antibiotics?
Go to church does not matter to God which is a condition of your mouth in. Maybe it will help too.

I am a practicing Catholic throughout life, and to keep abreast with what is acceptable or not …..
No, there is absolutely nothing wrong with receiving Communion if they have an abcessed tooth. I think it's more what's in your heart and mind that matters, more than anything physical. You want to make sure that you are in a state of grace when received, and truly believe that Communion is the true and real Body and Blood of Jesus Christ. If you have satisfied these conditions, can receive Communion without any problem.
Please note that abcessed tooth looked even later …. I have been in the same boat, and if not, the infection can spread from his tooth, the rest of your body through the bloodstream, and you can get really sick ..

bad … not as i still have a Catholic communion If I had a tooth … abscess understand God and I am sure would rather receive his body and blood that is not going to church! Hope can help!

I have never heard of anything health wise that would prevent anyone from receiving the sacrament. After all, there are people who have terminal cancer as illnessses taking communion as part of the last rites. So I do not see any damage. Everything depends on you, of course.
I would say, however, if you are taking antibiotics for absess, they do not make the wine of the Eucharist, because it can interact with medications. .. but wine is optional for lay people, anyway.

No, not bad at all. And, when you go to church is not a requirement for receiving the Eucharist (although we should try to get as many times as possible).
While we are forced to go to Mass every Sunday (or Saturday evening Mass), technically it is only required to receive the Eucharist once a year. See paragraph 1389 of the Catholic Catechism.

You can receive, not all disrespectful, Jesus embraced and touched people with all types of infections and diseases, while He walked among us, right? Is no different here. If you prefer to receive in the hand than in your language that is understandable. But do get, my dear.

Honestly, I do not think it would be a mistake.
I do not know the theology back to me, except that you must take communion, if possible. I would say that if eating is not a problem, go for it.
