The office of the papacy was created personally by Jesus while he was still here on earth. This makes the Pope the only link with the life of Jesus Christ. And the radical Jesus gave to Peter ... Jesus' promise to force the Pope in heaven ANY choses to bind the earth ... means that no one else can get closer to the nature of this authority permanent leader of the whole church on earth. Despite the revisionists who seek to deny these facts, the whole world recognizes and accepts, without fail, for the first 1000 years of history of the modern world, and over one billion Catholics follow. Furthermore, in the mid-20th century discovery of the bones of St. Peter, the Rock ... below the basilica that the name of it, in the Vatican ... shows that Jesus was not kidding when he said, "On this rock I will build my Church."

Non-Catholics. I guess he means well, tries to do the right thing and is a good man. Otherwise, I have no opinion of him.

God bless you for your question ... As a Christian, it hurts me what the Catholic Church is what it is today. Wayyyyy back in the 3rd century or so, was the protector of Truth. Then came this whole idea that the Bible is a collection of allegories, and it all went downhill from there. They soon added the Apocrypha, and adds all kinds of non-biblical teachings such as prayer to the saints and purgatory and limbo. I could go, but I do not ... The issue is the office of the papacy ... I think the current Pope is the closest thing to a true Biblical Scholar seen in the office, where I've been around (41 years, thank you very much. ..) Which officially ended the limbo of education, saying that there is no biblical basis for it (YEA!) and not afraid to take skeptical about the evidence base and in fact, not feelings and theory. So I really applaud the pope for what he has begun. I love my Catholic brothers - I have very good friends and family who are Catholic. I'm afraid to lose the boat, putting their faith in their good works for salvation, and Jesus when the Bible tells us again and again that it is not by works that are saved. We are saved by God's grace through faith in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, who paid for our sins by the shedding of his blood and life on the cross, which showed their deity of His resurrection. We are saved to do good deeds, for this is God's plan for us. But I digress. Catholics, please do not take my words as mean spirit. I love you, and God loves you. The Catholic Church has done many good things in the world, and a bunch of very bad things, like any other human institution - yes even the Protestant churches are also guilty. I'm concerned about his salvation, and I hope you read your Bible, as it is intended - and God revealed the Holy Word, the Truth. Take what you need and believe in him. Tradition is nice, but the truth is salvation.

Should mean nothing. Christians are suppose to follow Christ is not an elected representative of an organized religion that did not exist until after Christ's death. The Pope is the head of a powerful religion that has its own dogmas and guidelines were supposed to meet one. The Pope is teaching infallable in their decisions and this is close to blasphemy, the Church preaches against. The church has gone through many changes over the years that should raise questions of its own. I wonder how you feel about Jesus, the leaders of the church hide priests preying own innocent children and the bankruptcy filing of the demand for non-payment losses. This is not a blow to Catholics or their beliefs, but a reality on the organization and the papacy, not living the life they preach to others. Honor thy God, not religions.
