Confused About the Catholic Faith?
I decided to go to RCIA classes and I have a million questions I'm dying to ask. I ask because I am curious, and I'm at a point in my life when I'm not sure what I believe, but I'm looking for the truth … but I do not want to do as I am out of casting doubt on their faith. I'm simply curious, so I've decided for the anonymity of the internet … I mean with all due respect, my questions:
I am confused about Purgatory … I have been told different things contradictory that Catholics added books to the Bible, but I'm not sure if I believe. Where do these books to others?
Where did you get the teaching of purgatory?
Also, What exactly do you believe about salvation?
How exactly does one obtain salvation?
In the Catholic faith, what must I do?
What is the purpose of confession? In addition to go, do you also pray to God for forgiveness?
I have a lot of friends who are Catholic, I do not have a religion of truth, but I'm too embarrassed to ask because I'm ignorant.
Thank you!
I just want to have honest answers, please. I mean all my questions with respect. I am looking for the truth and trying to be sure what you think.
Thanks!

1. The word purgatory is where not found in the Bible, but the idea is in it.
1 Peter 3:19 19 "In which also coming he preached to the spirits in prison"
"The spirits that were in jail … Click here for a test of a third, central or state of the souls of these spirits in prison, to which Christ went to preach after his death, not in heaven, nor even in the hell of the damned: because the sky is not prison, and Christ did not go to preach to the damned. " 1 (This is the description of the passage giving Newadvent.org)
As he says, suggests another, and if go back and read everything in context it becomes a bit clearer.
Matthew 12:32 "32 And the word speak against the Son of man can be forgiven, but to speak against the Holy Spirit, you will not be forgiven neither in this world, neither in the world to come."
"Nor in the world to come … From these words of St. Augustine (De civ. Dei, lib. 21, c. 13) and San Gregorio (Dialog., 4, c. 39) gather, that some sins May be submitted in the world to come, and therefore there is a purgatory or a middle. "2 (Again, an explanation of what Catholics believe in the meaning of this passage from newadvent.org)
Suffice it to say that it suggests that there is another place where people can go if you are not yet ready for heaven.
2 macc. 12:43-45 43 "And make a meeting, he sent twelve thousand drachms of silver to Jerusalem to offer sacrifice for the sins of the dead, and religious thinking about the resurrection. 44 (In case you had not expected that those who were slain should rise again, it would have seemed superfluous and vain to pray for the dead), 45 and considering that those who had fallen asleep with godliness had great grace laid for them. "3
Catholics believe that once a person dies who faces a sentence immediately, so in the above verse that says that people pray for the dead, if they were sentenced to heaven or hell would have no reason to pray for them. The fourth source I have listed goes into great detail about why Catholics believe that Purgatory exists and is very easy to understand, so check for more information if you are interested.
As for the differences in the books of Martin Luther removed books during the reform and wanted to go further and eliminate some of the New Testament and have been James, Revelation, Esther, Hebrews, and Jude and I think there is a more but I am not sure if that is the case. The Catholic Church officially stated that the books were inspired deuteroncanonical the Council of Trent, but were part of the Bible from the beginning. They were included in the Septuagint (3 century BC), the Church Councils of Hippo (393) and Carthage (397 and 419) appear as the books of Scripture. That is removed from the Protestant Bible in the 16th century, Catholics do not add the following, which had already been part of the Holy Bible. (NAB)
2. Catholics believe that salvation is attained by the grace of God. We believe that faith is essential, as well as works. See the book of James explains how both are necessary (5 I've listed the source of a sample dialogue between Catholics and Protestants, which helps explain the differences in interpretation and, ultimately, belief).
3. Confession: 1 John 1:9 says if we confess our sins, then it will be forgiven. The Bible gives examples of people to confess their sins to another bumpkin, but also gave authority to the Church to forgive sins, the authority goes to the priests of the Church uses these verses to back that up:
John 20:21-23
"21 He said therefore again: Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, I will also send you. 22 When he had said this, breathed on them and said: Receive ye the Holy Spirit. 23 Whose sins you forgive, they are forgiven them, and whose sins you retain they are retained. "6
Basil the Great said about the confession of sins:
"We must confess our sins to those to whom the administration of the mysteries of God has been entrusted. By the age of penance are to have done before the saints. It is written in the Gospel who confessed their sins to John the Baptist [Matt. 3:6], but in fact [19:18] who confessed to the apostles "(Rules Briefly Treated 288 [AD 374])." 7
I also ask God for forgiveness than I am about to confess. I hope that my answers helped, I'm learning more about the Roman Catholic Church on life and my faith and it might be best to talk to a priest about this or someone who has spent much more time to study it. They probably could give best answer.
* For the salvation I'm still unsure whether or not baptism is absolutely necessary, but at least it is very important. There are other variables, in addition, the Church believes that in certain circumstances, those outside the Christian faith can attain salvation. In the end only God knows.
Read the book of Acts in the Bible, and notice in particular chapters 2, 4, 8, 10, 11 and 19. Look for a church that is like reading about what exists. Some of the churches that exist, and are not Catholic.
The truth remains in your heart / mind!
Pray to God, asking about their desires, and He will teach you!
No religion!
Only God and His Son, Jesus Christ!

Good question, actually the word purgatory is not mentioned in the Bible.
their curiosity will take you to the church that God has done, where you can find salvation and what it is. http://www.angdatingdaan.org/ just go to Biblical theme and the path to salvation. I can tell you that I have been the difference. before the churches, but when I found this church, could say nothing but thank God for calling me.
You will know the true gospel through a messenger from God, because God's word.
Confession: What is confession? Of course, not the priest, but a person you into sin. JAMES 5:16 = confess your sins to each other ,…..
Confess directly to God: Psalm 32:5 I acknowledged my sin = for you, and mine iniquity I have not hid: I said, I will confess my transgressions to the Lord and you forgavest the wickedness of my sin. Selah:
= ACT 15:11 But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus we are saved, despite the day. (Mention here the grace is not something material, but the word of God or the Gospel)
If you are interested in teaching here just email me.
ASTHONE years. Back Purgatory is not mentioned is not it? being added in the word of God.
Proverbs 3:5 = trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding.
We do not even need something to look for the meaning:
ISAIAH 34:16 = book Seek ye the Lord, and read, and not one of these is not, he does not want to kill my mouth hath commanded, and his spirit has met.
I can only tell you what the Bible says about these things.
There is no purgatory. the evidence of Christ on the cross when he said that the thief on this day that will be with me in paradise. He said the Father into your hands I commend my spirit. Therefore, the thief was right up to heaven with Christ.
Obtaining salvation is done simply by repenting and asking for it.
The confession is what we do for God and only God because He is the only one who can and has taken away the debt of sin. It's good for others to confess our sins so that we do not burden us. It also shows that he is not ashamed that we were, because of what they are today. in so far as anything else, there is nothing you can get or stay out of the sky that are not or do not believe in Jesus Christ.
Purgatory is the inbetween of hell or heaven and earth. Catholics not add any book of the Bible, which just did not take any out. as Luther took a couple of books because they find them. salvation is being saved from hell. in order to be saved from hell have to follow the commandments (each one a little different cree), and go through at least the first 4 sacrements. the purpose of confession is to tell their sins to a priest to be officially forgiven. you must pray for the side to ask God for forgiveness (noncatholics thats what to do), but you do not have to guess. do not feel like you can not ask your friends. their curiosity is not ignorant.
I hope that helps
=)
Do not forget to ask why the man had committed incest wen other people created gods. as mentioned in the Bible. Seth and Eve and how they found there way back to Eden. oh and make sure to ask why Catholics made hemp illegal. and if you still think it's a good idea. then ask about Mana. oh and ask how the wine was made without yeast. I have tried and not working well. with yeast and i cannot get more than 6% and the beer is over. oh and tell them God still loves THO yet that the cult of a religion founded by the Romans who killed Jesus. because otherwise we would not have been the great wisdom and great history that we have a day if the Romans had accepted Jesus to be king there. I'm so happy for one that killed him. because now I have to go to heaven no matter what. I am saved and have accepted Jesus into my life.
