Do Catholics believe the Eucharist is truly the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ?

do Catholics believe the Eucharist is truly the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ? Is it true that after the priest pronounces the words of consecration during the Mass, saying: "For this is my body," the substance of the bread becomes the Body and Blood of Christ, but the look remains the same ? If this is true, then enshrined in the interior of the tabernacle host must be reserved with dignity and reverence for Jesus Christ is really present.

    Yes
      Mass + +
At the Last Supper, Jesus said, "Take this bread. It's my body. "Then he said:" Take this and drink. This is my blood. Do this in memory of me. "
Catholics that this was the first Eucharist, through a miracle that the bread and wine actually become the body and blood of Jesus Christ.
Catholics reenact the Last Supper at every Mass, where God, through the priest changes the bread and wine into the body and blood of Jesus Christ.
This is a great sacrament of thanksgiving and unity of Catholics.
Indeed, the Orthodox, Lutheran and many Anglican Churches also believe in the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist.

This is the store that the Jews that the Ten Commandments and the Ark of the Covenant. This is where God dwelt in the midst of his people.
If any of the Body of Christ is not consumed, then safely stored in the tabernacle. After all these years, remains the place where God dwells in the midst of his people.

Do. Personally I do not, but that's what happened. I was an altar boy and the priest fell a lot of bread on the floor and I fumbled the catch. He became angry and collect them all and pushed into her mouth. What I find funny kind of sense not to be disrespectful, but he actually thought that Jesus fell on the floor.

  3. baredd79 says:

    Yes I was raised Catholic.

  4. mark b says:

Thomas Aquinas taught us about the issue is the meaning of the actual presence and after the consecration the true body and blood understandable, but has a bit of study. When you said that remains the same, which is an error in thought, in fact, changes in the essence, the simplest definition is meaningful, is what it is. An accident is the shape of the object, which can take and taste like bread and wine, but is changed into the Body and Blood.
Heat the wine in the sacred Tabernacle was the Holy of Hollies.

  5. RJ says:

Who cares. I was raised Catholic, most are not. For me it was a nasty and horrible cracking wine tasting drink.

  6. Icy Gazpacho says:

Rituals are just symbols. The tabernacle is sacred turf for this reason alone. Nobody believed that these symbols are miraculously transformed into the body and blood of Christ … is the bread and wine - a ritual performed by a priest, while re-enacting the last supper .. using words that are meant to be Jesus himself.

  7. magpie says:

I think it can be called transmigration or something similar. I am a Protestant, but I grew up with is Catholic and I believe the Catholic Church teaches that the wafer and wine are actually the blood of Jesus and Jesus' body, and thus blocking the host churches for people with evil in mind can not get their hands on them.

  8. brainsto says:

    Yes
Catholics believe the priest has the power to change bread and wine into flesh and blood of Christ mutter a few magic words on them.
There is nothing symbolic about it, who should believe that is actually happening.
When the church had more power in the last few centuries to thousands of people were tortured and killed for refusing to believe this.
The process continues with the believers to eat this meat, so they really believe they are taking part in an act of cannibalism.

  10. kwxilvr says:

Yes, "serious" Catholics believe this fantastic (and unsubstantiated) belief. It is called transubstantiation. As a former Catholic, who is one of the concepts that led me to atheism.

  11. hope says:

Do. The Eucharist is the center of the spiritual life of Catholics. This is the source of all graces - the same God in the flesh, with his Soul and Divinity. This is also why the precious metals are used for chalices and ciboriums because the best should be reserved for God. Reserve Tabernacles Christ in the flesh and the hosts are kept locked so people can not desecrate the Blessed Sacrament, the Body of Christ.

  12. Wally says:

Transubstantiation. This interpretation is in the hands of the Roman Catholic Church. Declares that the priest's consecration the bread and wine no longer remain as such and become the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. This Fe contends that when the Lord said: "Truly, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, ye have no life in you" (John 6:53), meaning meat and the blood of Christ. Therefore, the Mass is the ritual that makes the bread and wine into flesh and blood of Christ. Only the priest drinks the wine, not a drop of Christ's blood must be shed. The bread is in the form of wafers, so that is not a crumb of his body should be lost. In response to this we ask, "How could Christ, being perfect in your body, keep part of her body in his hand when he said, 'This is my body'?"
Symbolism. This is the true interpretation, which states that the bread and wine are only symbols of Christ's body and blood, which were offered to the cross of Calvary for the remission of sins. "Do this in remembrance of me" but that in blessed memory, and that's where it ends

  13. Brent Y says:

Most have no indication that the Church teaches transubstantiation. I think it is symbolic. The irony is that this is only the ritual cannibalism - Catholics (and other holders of communion transubstantiate following beliefs) are now Lecters Hannibal! What think a religion - it is better than others.

  14. Hydroman says:

Lisa, are you sure the warm feeling he felt in the wine is not going down?
If this is truly the flesh and blood of Christ, how big is it? I mean, have not been completely consumed by now?

  15. pardes33 says:

Yes, becomes the true Body and Blood of Christ. BUT THIS IS A VERY SUPERNATURAL LEVEL, many miracles occur after their consumption, but also gives a BEALIVER THE ALMOST intoxicating comfort and welfare. It is the largest REASON FOR CONVERSIONS CATHOILC, BEACAUSE MIRACULOUS BY ITS PEOPLE FELT ROUND BENEIFITS The whole world …. is actually the focal point of the Catholic Mass (service). It is also the focal point of all religion, the power of Christ is present in the tabernacle DEFFINETLY CATHOLIC IN EACH CHUCRCH. BEFORE AND AFTER ONE ENTERS THE CHURCH FACING CATHOILIC Bows TABENACLE, delivery to the recognition that Christ resides within. The Tabernacle also means the womb of Mother Mary.

  16. junkNdaT says:

Catholics and Orthodox Christians believe this.

  17. patrick m says:

Yes, you are right. Jesus said that I think is installed —
"This is my body" "This is my blood."
By the way, all Catholics, not only the priest can drink wine and eat bread. In the Middle Ages, it fell out of practice for people in the pews to take wine for reasons that are obvious (the spread of the disease), but is now allowed and encouraged.

  18. Mike K says:

    Hi,
Yes, your question says it all very well.

  19. Lisa2000 says:

Transubstantiation that is called. And people have no idea how you feel after receiving this. Yes, I have experienced the power after receiving the communion (like bread and wine). It's amazing. He was carrying a load and receive communion after it was forced to ask (in my mind) of Jesus to take the load - I had no idea it was even going to ask this - I was not even thinking about it this burden I had been performing weeks. Next thing you know it only appears in my mind and I feel that the rapid weight lifted from me and I have a warm feeling inside. I was acquitted. The Holy Spirit does not groan that we all - that is the only thing I can give because I do not usually ask Jesus to lift burdens from me. Sorry for anyone who is in the fullness of this gift.
Hydroman - I do not think you have been to a Catholic church. Let me explain - We gotta get out of our banks and walk in a long row to participate in communion. I go to a big church and I was sitting in the back. When we take a SIP - is usually a small sip of wine from a chalice filled partially - by the time they got there is not much to enjoy. The moment we walk all the way to my rear bench seat is already warm feeling is past. Especially in the case of a small amount of wine. After kneeling and praying. Here is what I felt when I asked him and asked him to lift the burden of real (and huge), is taking me, and then the warm feeling that I decended. It is a warm feeling of being loved. I know that people do not understand this, but this is real and not made up things that people are feeling. Some are called by Him and not others. But if you really want to participate in his salvation, he can ask and honestly answer whether they are sincere. BTW, do not always feel this way. He participated in communion wine for a long time and always make me feel this way.

  20. Markiete says:

Yes, it's true. Is called transubstantiation. And yes, the consecrated tabernacle inside the host must be reserved with dignity and reverence.

  21. John F says:

Well, I think the host and wine into the body and blood during the mass. It is the miracle of transubstantiation.
There is a point in the mass when the priest raises the host of heaven and an altar of children a bell rings. This is supposedly the time of transformation, and the general congregation, bows his head at this time.

  22. Rat says:

    do believe that
no, no need to be treated with reverence
is absolutely a lie … scientifically impossible

  23. J.P. says:

Yes, and that is why there is the Tabernacle, for preserving the dignity and reverence of the Eucharist Hosts.

  24. luv2seas says:

Yes it is true. At the Last Supper of Jesus, the Bible has one ……… communion with the apostles and those who used the manna (bread) to symbolize Christ's body and He said: "I take this and eat it. It is my body which is given for you so that your sins may be forgiven. Do this in remembrance of me. " Take the wine and said "………… this drink is the blood shed for me ……. to do this in remembrance of me ……. …. It is symbolic, and although it is not really a blood or body …………. representing both. It is a time to remember that Jesus died for us and our sins so that we can enter heaven. All things that deal with Jesus are revered. This is not just Catholics and other religions can use grape juice and wine instead of cookies. Is what counts! +
P.S. Christ is always present, no matter where you are.

  25. Dan Dempsey says:

Yes, yes. Are explicitly taught this.

  26. A Word Please says:

They do. and Catholics are not the only ones who …….

  27. Doktor Solidarity says:

it is the center of the whole Church.
"My greatest joy is to join souls. When I come a human heart in Holy Communion, my hands are full of all kinds of graces which I want to give to the soul. But souls do not even pay any attention to me, I leave myself busy with other things. Oh, how sad I am that souls do not recognize Love! I treat as a dead object. "
      - The Divine Mercy.

  28. Andy V says:

I do not know, but I'm not even a cannibal.

  29. ROBERT P says:

Hi.Yes, is known as transubstantiation. Whike who were at supper, Jesus took bread, said the blessing, broke the bread and gave it to his disciples.saying "Take this, all of you and eat it: this is my body which is given to you . When dinner is over, he took the cup, gave it back (the Father), thanks and praise, gave the cup to his disciples and said, Take this, all of you, and drink it, because this is my blood the blood of the new and eternal covernant, which is shed for you, so that sins may be forgiven.Do this in remembrance of me.
