Geographic Religion
I gave my life to Jesus Christ when he was seventeen. I am a member of the Christian community. I believe the Bible as a sacred work (though not infallible is not infallible). I have spent decades studying other religions. And yet, in regard to why I am a Christian, I must admit that it has to do with the fact that I was born. I was born in the Bible belt and the inculturation of Christianity in my life has kept me there. But while I see God more clearly in Jesus, not only see God in Jesus.
We I have been born in Japan, the chances of being a Christian I would be very small. I would more than likely have taken Shintoism. To the west and China, who was born somewhere in this country, I have accepted either Taoism or Buddhism. If I was more in southwestern China (in Tibet), then you would certainly have been a Buddhist.
Moving west to India, where he was born in a nation that has become a Hindu unless you are in the western part of the nation, then it is likely that you may be a Zoroastrain. More West in the Middle East, where a birth certificate makes a Muslim, there are two main flavors: Sunni or Shia.
To the west we got back to Israel I am Jewish.
Westward to Italy and become a Catholic.
Moving West to England and I am Anglican, in any case.
And so goes. I am a Christian because I was born in the Bible belt of America. If I had been born in Tibet, or Iran can bet Jesus would not be my vocabularly religious. But this I know. But there is a Creator who created all, regardless of the name you give it: Buddha, Allah, God, etc. and love is the nature of the Creator, the nature of the Creator, and the truth of life, the Way of Jesus.
We are one with the world!
I simply can not accept the idea that the One who created the universe is so unique that he (no gender intended) wanted to spend eternity with those who were just as lucky to be born in a Christian environment. Nor do I believe that the Creator wanted everyone in the same house the same flock. That to me is whay Jesus said in John 10:16 that he had "other sheep" (not just sheep Christians) and what it says in John 14:2 that there are "many mansions" in the heavenly spiritual kingdom. The sky will not only have built the houses Colonial Christian south.
Have we not learned that religious wars (including the name of God), simply does not work?
Think about it!
