  1. Chris says:

"Purgatory" is not real. Was composed of Catholics.
The truth is that death brings immediate heaven or hell, depending only on whether the person believes that the truth about Jesus in this life or not.
Once a person is dead, there is no second chance. So you can not help someone who is already dead. But you can help yourself.
The truth about Jesus is that the only way to be saved and reach heaven and avoid being sent to eternal hell is by believing in faith alone that Jesus is God, died for our sins on the cross and rose from the dead (1 Corinthians 15:1-4). And I believe you are saved!
Please pray now: "Jesus, please forgive me my sins. I believe that You died on the cross for my sins and rose from the dead. Thank you for eternal life! "You will be in heaven with Him forever when you die. :)

Ignore Chris and the rest of those who think they know what they are talking about when to Catholicism. They do not have a weak track on what they really believe.
Purgatory is a doctrine that predates Christianity. Early Jews believed in a clean state after death, and the concept is mentioned in the Book of Maccabees - one of the books Martin Luther cut the Bible did not like what he said.
Common sense also says that if God can not even look at sin, then nothing sinful can enter heaven. The act of dying does not make you a saint - just makes you dead. :) Assuming you have accepted the atoning death of Christ on the Cross and obeyed God all his life was saved, but you must be cleaned of all attachment to sin and evil that God did not allow a lifetime .
You can not pay money for indulgences: that is the sin of simony, and the Church has always regarded as sinful. What * can * do is pray for his friend and do acts of charity for the repose of his soul. In essence, the sin is selfishness and self-centeredness, and when we do something for someone else, we detach ourselves from our own sin.
In a way known only to God and the souls suffering in Purgatory, an act of mercy and compassion can help the person you are concerned. Nobody knows how it happens, but maybe it has to do with the suffering of the soul, you realize that selfishness love and understanding of their own life choices.

Sorry for your friend, but "purgatory" does not exist. There is no mention of purgatory in the Bible.
The doctrine of Purgatory was on the 9th century or earlier. Was added to the doctrine of indulgences (the title may not be correct).
The Catholic hierarchy decided that in order to obtain the money needed to build cathedrals, political influence, etc., the "goodness" of Christ may be used since He (Jesus) does not need to land that sinlessness. To use the new doctrine, Purgatory was invented so people could pay to have admitted their dead in the sky.
Another part of the sale of indulgences was to allow more to make a way to buy the forgiveness of sin or a sin. Sorry, but purgatory is an invention. When one dies, saved a person (who has accepted Jesus as their Savior) will go directly to Heaven to be with Jesus. A man lost goes straight to Hell.
Please read Luke 16:24-31. This is proof that Purgatory does not exist.

  4. Anonymous Lutheran says:

Each person who dies in Christ will have its facts, and only those aspects of himself that Christ conformed to survive. Cree is not just for Catholics but also Orthodox, Lutherans, Anglicans, and most also, and this is why we need the Eucharist, to receive Jesus in us - because he also could not survive at all.
Therefore, to say that Purgatory is merely "composed" by Catholics is not entirely true and not helpful.
Regarding your friend, you can not buy your way out of this process, but you can pray that God's mercy, blessings and peace be on him.

  5. Jeanmari says:

Jesus told the man on the cross next to him, "Today will be with me in paradise"
And the Bible says, "Man is appointed once to die, death comes after the ruling."
So no, purgatory is not biblical and is composed of Catholics.
This is one reason why Martin Luther wanted to reform the church, he was against paying for your sins and the payment of their loved ones out of purgatory.

Your friend can not get out of purgatory, because there are none. This is Catholic teaching. Not in the Bible. In this life we must make a decision if you have faith and trust in Jesus or not. Once you die or go to hell or to heaven, not in the middle. If your friend cree and put your trust and faith in Jesus is a friend is in heaven if not in hell. So his election today before its late. Jesus is the way the truth and life.no one comes to the Father except through me. (Jesus) Absent from the body present with the Lord. 2 Corinthians.
That's why Jesus died on the cross.

  7. Nonviola says:

to the first. cop or whoever …
That the verses cited Revelation 21:27, Matthew 5:26, Matthew 12:32,
      and 1 Corinthians 3:15 …
Revelation 21:27 says: "But you must enter it in any way
défilé anything, or causes an abomination or falsehood, but only
those who are written in the Lamb's Book of Life. "
All of this is Paul's vision of end times and what will happen
later, the new Jerusalem … Text is, of course, open to interpretation, but this is not talk at all about Purgatory.
It is not real. Made of Catholics. This verse is saying
New Jerusalem come to nothing by any means, except
being a believer in Jesus Christ. (This would be how to get your name written in the Lamb's Book of Life.) There is absolutely no purgatory for her.
But perhaps his Catholic bible says something different and the word is mentioned in the same purgatory? I thought you were the same, but more books of the Protestant Bible?
Matthew 5:26 … Is not this Jesus' Sermon on the Mount?
He never spoke of purgatory here …
Matthew 5:26 says: [Jesus speaking] "Surely, I say unto you, do not leave it there until you have paid the last penny."
I can see how this change is a theory of how the "purgatory" works … but stop twisting the Word.
It says nothing about it. He is talking about killing begins in the heart … very complicated, but nothing of purgatory.
      Need to move?
Sheesh … The Christians in those days.

  8. stpolyca says:

Purgatory is real. See Revelation 21:27, Matthew 5:26, Matthew 12:32 and 1 Corinthians 3:15.
You can not get his friend in Purgatory. However, you can pray for him.

  9. Kevin S says:

It was in the book of Maccabees, one of the original books that Martin Luther removed. Chris, as usual, everyone is using the lame excuse to hate Catholics. If only he understood it better and faith of the debt due to him.

  10. cristoig says:

No, you do not have to pay.
There is a common misunderstanding of Protestant purgatory. At least one Protestant minister, John Wesley speaks of perfection in this life, but little as possible. He is one of the few who proclaim that one can be sanctified in this life and he left the Moravian Church on this issue after a reprimand by Count Zinzendorf to this teaching.
People already in purgatory due to the receipt of the supernatural in the eternal life to our souls through Baptism makes us part of Christ's body. Those in purgatory have accepted Christ through faith and not rejected by him unrepentant mortal sin. It is a place where one is purified by fire (Mal 3:2). Imagine the joy of being in purgatory, and know they are there because they have passed and the sentence is assured of being in the presence of God in heaven. Purgatory is not eternal destiny, there are only two, heaven or hell.
We must not think of purgatory as a kind of legal punishment for past sins, as they would under the old law. Those in purgatory and new creatures changed by the grace of Christ, are the adopted children and part of the family of God in purgatory receives a final cleaning of the discipline and preparation for the perfection of heaven. Catholics believe that sanctification is a process and not complete when it comes to beliefs. Therefore, purgatory is not a suggestion that the atonement of Christ is not sufficient, but we have not finished our sanctification by the grace of Christ.
Cleaning or sanctification is a gradual process and we must persevere to the end to be saved.
(DRB Mat 10:22) And ye shall be hated by all men for my name, but to persevere to the end will be saved.
(DRB Mat 24:13) But he who shall endure to the end will be saved.
(DRB Mar 13:13) And ye shall be hated by all men for my name. But that will last until the end will be saved.
Catholic soteriology recognizes that some of us the process was not completed with the death or who died with the unrepentant sin.
(Hebrews 9:27 DRB) And that is assigned to men once to die, but after this trial:
The verdict is our eternal destiny and those on whose behalf is the Lamb's book of life, heaven is assured. However, we know that one must be sinless to be in God's presence.
(1Ti 6:14 DRB) that you keep the commandment without spot, blameless until the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ,
It is possible that no one is willing to be in the presence of our Lord as they might be deficient in spiritual or temporal effects forgiven our sins in the soul which is necessary for some form of purification in order to enter heaven in the presence of God. Since this is a process of purgation is called purgatory, and in accordance with the prophecy of the prophet Habakkuk, who says that only the holy can enter heaven.
(Hab 1:13 DRB) Your eyes are too pure to see the evil, and you can not look to the iniquity. Why lookest you do unjust things, and your peace holdest harmdoers devoureth when the man who is more fair to him?
St. Paul also teaches a process of purgation which can involve suffering in the soul of Christians and in his first letter to the Church of Corinth, which describes the process of purgation after death.
(DRB 1 Cor 3:10) According to God's grace given to me as a wise architect I have laid the foundation and another builds thereon. But all men have in mind what is built thereon.
(DRB 1 Cor 3:11) For other foundation can no man, but what he states, that is Christ Jesus.
(DRB 1 Cor 3:12) But if any man build upon this foundation, gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble:
(1 Cor 3:13 DRB) All men's work is manifested. For the day of the Lord shall declare, as evidenced in the fire. And the fire is every man's work, what type it is.
(DRB 1 Cor 3:14) If anyone's work abide, which has built on this, get a reward.
(DRB 1 Cor 3:15) If any work recording Mans, who shall suffer loss, but he himself shall be saved, but so as by fire.
St. Paul speaks figuratively of the results of sin remaining in the soul is like the "wood, hay and straw and burned away in the final purification process that is received in the presence of the Lord. St. Paul also speaks of one of the works such as gold, silver and precious stones, which are refined and stored.
This passage reminds me of what Christ said in the next, indicating that some sins can be forgiven after death.
(DRB Mat 12:32) Then speak a word against the Son of man can be forgiven, but to speak against the Holy Spirit, you will not be forgiven neither in this world, neither in the world to come.
Purgatory is also related to the parable of the unmerciful servant who is following …
(DRB Mat 18:32) Then his lord called him and told him: Thou wicked
