How does a person become Catholic? The short answer is to contact the local Catholic Church in your community and ask to speak with the RCIA director or the Department of Adult Education that will explain the process and periods. The process can take about a year unless there is some sort of issue that will not allow you to complete their sacraments. Barriers would be the former marriage to be annulled, use of birth control and cohabitation. Also, if you have a great experience and understanding of other faiths, can not take as long. Along the way you hear the word that.s trip and what the conversion to the Catholic Church is a spiritual journey.
