If I can prove Biblically that Peter was not the first pope or leader of the Catholic Church, is Crumble?
The Catholic church is based on a theory that Peter was appointed by Jesus to be the first pope. (Misinterpereted a verse Matthew 16:18 "I also tell you that you are Peter and on this rock I will build my church;) The word for" Peter "Petros, means a small stone (Jn 1:42). Jesus used a play on words here with petra, meaning a base rock (MTT cf. 7:24,25). Since the New Testament is very clear that Christ is the foundation (Ac 4:11,12, 1 Cor 3:11) and head (Eph 5:23) of the church, is a mistake to think that here is that any these functions to Peter. Now the church is the claim that Peter was Pope from 42 AD to 67 AD. The book of Romans was written 56 AD Paul writes a letter to Rome concerning Jesus Christ and he does not mention Peter, the Pope? It Is not it strange? He greeted several others in the church, but never the head of the church?

It calls for Peter Paul several times in Scripture. Not the Pope to be the most perfect representative of Christ? Paul also, why write most of the New Testament, when Peter was the one? Also why does the New Testament never mentions the word pope or the papacy?
14 hours
So,
1, the church recognized this writing for the start of his church.
2) Since this allows the "called" The Pope and the papacy and the Vatican to make their own doctrines of the church. Which was based on false logic to begin with.
3) If Peter was not the Pope then the entire church is crumbling, because the tradition was false at the beginning.

- Why do non-Catholics do not believe in the Pope's role as Head of the Church?

- Why we like the Pope - the Vicar of Christ

The Papacy is of pagan origin. The title of pope or universal bishop, was first given to the Bishop of Rome by the wicked emperor Phocas
This was done despite Ciriacus bishop of Constantinople, which justly excommunicated him for having caused the assassination of his predecessor emperor Mauritius. Gregory 1, then bishop of Rome, refused the title, but his successor, Boniface III, first assumed title "pope."
Jesus did not appoint Peter to the headship of the apostles and forbade any notion. (Luke 22:24-26, Ephesians 1:22-23, Colossians 1:18, 1 Corinthians 3:11).
Note: There is also no mention in Scripture, nor in history, every time Peter was in Rome, much less who was Pope for 25 years, Clement, Bishop of Rome 3, notes that "there is no real evidence that 1 Peter century was never in Rome. "Because Satan is the" owner "of the RCC ……. The apostle Paul said that should not be surprised, because it ….." Satan is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore, there is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed into ministers of justice, whose end will be according to his works. "If the pope is Christ 's substitute on earth, there should be many similarities in their lives. Must see s:
While on earth, Jesus never controlled great wealth. The pope controls one of the richest companies in the world.
Jesus dressed like a common man. The Pope, on the other hand, is something never seen in the locker room, but Regal.
Jesus lived in a simple, but Pope visits opulence at every turn. Jesus tirelessly served the crowd, while the pope travels the world in his private jet, meeting with world leaders of all nations.
Most people eventually rejected and hated Jesus because he told the truth. The Pope is revered and adored by millions around the world. The pope gladly welcomes the praise of men, but Jesus directed all worship to the Father, and said of himself :……." Why you call me good? There is none good but one, ie God. "Mark 10:18
Potatoes must accept the adoration of the crowds? Watch as the "Pope" Peter reacted when Cornelius tried to worship him:
"And as Peter was in, Cornelius met him and fell at his feet and worshiped him. But Peter took him up, saying, Arise, I myself also am a man. " Acts 10:25-26
Pope, head of the church?
The Catechism states:
"The Pope enjoys, by divine institution, supreme, full, immediate and universal power in the care of souls," pp. 246, # 937
According to the Word of God, the Pope is not the head of the true church of Jesus Christ. That position is reserved for the Lord Jesus:
"For the husband is the head of the wife, despite the fact that Christ is the head of the church …" Ephesians 5:23
As for the Pope 's title "Holy Father," Jesus instructed us to:
"… call no man your father on earth: for one is your Father who is in heaven. "Matthew 23:9
However, the pope not only accepts the title "Father" but "Holy Father," as well, a title reserved for God:
"Who shall not fear thee, O Lord, and glorify your name? Just for the sacred art … "Revelation 15:4
It is unwise to assume a name reserved for God, He will not share His glory with anyone:
"I am the Lord, my name and my glory I will not give to another …" Isaiah 42:8
Most persistent questions
Again, Scripture and Catholic doctrine could not disagree more. As a result, you must choose parts of each of the following questions:
Why not tell us in the Bible that God was sending the pope as the Vicar of Christ?
Why insist on the Bible that Jesus is the head of the church, if not?
Why the Catholic Church wants the Pope to be the final authority instead of Jesus?
Why does the Catholic church want the pope to be their teacher in place of the Holy Spirit of God?
Only you can answer these questions for himself. And only you can decide which side is cree - Catholic traditions of men … or the Word of God?
"And you complete in him (Jesus), who is the head of all principality and power:" Colossians 2:10
"And he (Christ) is the head of the body, the church …" Colossians 1:18 …… Perhaps this helps us better understand what Jesus means when He tells us in one of his parables that Satan will stop at nothing to keep people blind to the fullness of God's truth. The result, as Jesus says, is that "the door is wide and easy road that leads to destruction, and there are many who take it," and "the gate is narrow and the road is hard that leads to life, and few are those who find "(Matthew 7:13-14, Nrsv )…. The Apostle Paul says, "The coming of the one outside the law [the future teacher to promote doctrines contrary to God's laws] is in agreement with the work of Satan … Unfair to all of the deceptions that perish, because they do not receive the love of truth, which can be saved. And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that should believe the lie "(2 Thessalonians 2:9-11). Probably none of the teachers perceived wrong is actually promoting Satan's point of view.
However, through the creation of a counterfeit Christianity, which is not altogether different from the true Church, but is opposed to some key biblical teachings that lead to eternal life, Satan is trying to thwart the plan of God for the salvation of mankind. Remember, Jesus said, "if you want to enter life, keep the commandments" (Matthew 19:17). That is exactly what the devil wants to prevent.
Without a law promoting Christianity teaches that we can selectively obey or ignore the commandments of God.
Anarchy in varying degrees is the centerpiece of the falsification of the doctrine of Satan. Its purpose is to convince people who serve Christ, while those isolated from salvation by clouding their understanding of what is sin to continue in sin, so the practice at least some degree of anarchy .
To achieve his purpose, Satan exploits human nature. That swings people to believe his deception (1 John 5:19, Revelation 12:9). Satan has enough on his doctrines of the truth to persuade people who are following Christ. But introduces enough error to avoid the way of life that ultimately lead to eternal life.
No, the church does not crumble. It has been demonstrated many times, using scripture, Peter is the rock upon which the Christian congregation is built, but that is not enough to cause a powerful institution like the Catholic Church to crumble.

Nice one =)
BTW you can never prove anything the Bible, without Hominum ad.
Bible quotes => is the only source of information the Bible => Bible information can not be tested using the Bible.
Even if the test is successful you should be aware that Catholics are not the Bible is the literal truth. Church is the interpretation of the Bible is the foundation of the Catholic faith.
somehow, you are right, because in those days the Catholic church does not exist, however, was until the fourth century when Christianity became official in Rome by the Emperor Theodosius for more information about searching Wikipedia for: Constantino SHIFT
that definitely take much more than that to collapse the Catholic Church. I will never leave the Catholic Church.
The Scriptures say otherwise.
I already knew that … And I bet a lot of Christians …
But I am sure that Catholics do not even care.
BTW. Catholics are not allowed to read the Bible, can be crazy ….. lol ..
No - it would take much more than that to crumble. Unless you can prove that you are the second Messiah …
2 thumbs up ………… Dr. Theo you get!
Oh ho, you're so good. thanks.
well?
I think the text in Matthew 16 has been taken way out of conext. Although Peter is regarded as the biulding block for the church, and he is one of our first parents, he is not the Conero stone is Christ. However, Pedro is still a cornerstone.
In 1 Peter 2:4-8 says that we all be living stones because of our association with Christ. That all are part of the Church and biulding for Peter, who is one of the fathers of the Church was one of the first to biuld and therefore he had aposltes and the other have become the foundation of the church
I just want to know what the problem with the modern world with a pastor to lead us. Of course, the Bible, but sometimes the interpretation of what it means for us at this time is not so easy.
The Catholic church has more than a pope. We have sacred tradition that sets us apart from the world as some of the most devout Christians to ever exist.
There are a lot of "if" in his theory.
You said it was "based on false logic" - but they really can not prove that. Just because Paul did not write about it - did not. (and in my opinion - just because Paul DID write about a lot of things - not doing so.)
The Catholic church is not going to collapse - false logic or not. The church serves many people - and helps many people. I do not understand anyone's desire to see it collapse. And certainly not to judge anyone or the people who choose that faith.
Namaste!
No matter how you interpret the Scriptures, the Church does not collapse on the basis of belief. I am not and have never been Catholic, but I know that his teachings and I know they are going to believe what has been taught all their lives. Nothing wrong with that. If you are not a Catholic and his church, find another. If you are not Catholic, and then leave them alone. Jesus did not give permission to others for any reason. There are some very good, true Christians in every church that claims Christianity, and even some churches that do not.
Stop saying that there was a pope! U have not even tried yet. Or so I think that the coronation of the popes came from nothing ???????
Directed by the man above me:
Ru talking about what we read the Bible more times u do.
sry lost my nerve
I think people in the Catholic Church too much credit. I do not believe in the Catholic Church. The Catholic Church has too many things that are not in the Bible. The Pope is just a man who sins like the rest of us. Jesus is going to look, not a man dressed in a white robe. The pope can not just forgive the sins of God.
I do not think the Catholic Church is the church founded by Jesus Christ. I think the way the Romans with their hierarchy became part of the church's hierarchy. I do not think the pope is better than any other human. Also, I do not think that anyone who serves God as priests, and it has to maintain abstinence from marriage and sex. I think it remains unique, and Paul, and said it would be better, does not mean you had to, otherwise, how else could populate the world. Prevention of marriage, prevention is the beginning of time, with Adam and Eve, and God said to be fruitful and multiply.
I do not think the church was founded by Jesus exists today in the exact form. I think some are closer than others, but like human beings, the church is not perfect.
Wow, Jon, who is brilliant. You, all by yourself, after 2000 years, have destroyed the Catholic Church. You should be very proud.
Of course, the problem is that you are using the Bible, a book of fiction, so I think it just fell to his religion. Sorry.
What gives you the idea Emperor Constantine did not notice when he ordered a compilation of the Bible?
If Jesus is real, why did Paul have to write even any part of the New Testament? Why is a fact that even a single word was written by the person of Jesus?
The Catholic Church, meeting in the New Testament is quoted. If the Catholic Church is "false start" and "collapses" like you say, what to do to the New Testament? Catch 22.
This is where Pope Damasus I commissioned the publication of the Bible, once and for all that the 27 books together. Before that, there are many books that were thrown around to writing as NT.
1. Jesus acts through the potato, which can be both figurative head of the church
2. Everyone in the early Church recognized the See of Peter in Rome as the central authority of Christian doctrine
3. If Peter was not the Pope and the entire church collapses, then everything falls apart Christianity. Fortunately, Peter was the first Pope and the Church remains true despite the demons continue to rail against it.
… Write your references are correct … collapse but nothing … the first "9" popes were Jews! leading to the "Catholic" (universal) is the faith that some of the "men of old Rome" became the disenchantment with the Jews who were running the faith (known as El Camino) and kicked out … (Constantine and entering lot of monsters) and the rest is history …
Does it really matter "the" church "is the body of Christ, not domination. Gotta think Jesus is very upset about all the discussions and disagreements among the different denominations. He called down when the disciples were arguing about who was more telling than what will be the biggest …..
N can not. You have to build on Peter and Jesus
Peter is the rock upon which is built the Church?
"And I also say to you that you are Peter and on this rock I will build my church and the gates of hell shall not dominate him" (Matthew 16:18).
The Roman Catholic Church places great emphasis on Peter and says that Jesus said that he would build his church on him.
Simon Peter holds first place in the College of the Twelve, Jesus entrusted a unique mission to him. Through a revelation from the Father, Peter had confessed: "Thou art the Christ, the Son of God." Our Lord said: "You are Peter and on this rock I will build my Church, and the doors of hell shall not prevail against it. " Christ, the "Stone of Life, therefore, assures his Church, built on Peter, you will have the victory over the powers of death. Due to the faith he confessed Peter will remain the unshakable rock of the Church. Its mission is to maintain this faith in each period and to strengthen his brothers in it. "(Catechism of the Catholic Church, par. 552).
"By the word" rock "the Savior can not have the same meaning, but only Peter, as is more apparent in Aramaic in which the same word (Kipha) is used for" Peter "and" rock " ;. His statement is supported, but one explanation, namely that he wants to make Peter the head of the entire community of those who believe in Him as the true Messias, that through this foundation (Peter) the Kingdom of Christ would be unconquerable, and that the spiritual guide of the faithful was in the hands of Peter, as the special representative of Christ. "(http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/11744a.h …
The reference to Scripture that the Roman Catholic Church seeks to justify its position is found in Matt. 16:18. This is in context.
"Now when Jesus came into the district of Caesarea Philippi, He began asking His disciples, saying:" Who says that the Son of Man? "14 And he said:" Some say John the Baptist, others Elijah, others Jeremiah or one of the prophets. * 15 He said to them: "But who say I am?" 16 And Simon Peter answered and said, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." 17 And Jesus answered and said, Blessed are you, Simon Barjona, because flesh and blood did not reveal to you, but my Father in heaven. 18 "And I also say to you that you are Peter and on this rock I will build my church and the gates of hell shall not dominate it. 19 "To you I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and what will be compulsory on earth shall be bound in heaven, and everything you lose on earth shall be loosed in heaven." 20 Then the disciples He warned that should tell anyone that he was the Christ "(Matthew 16:15-20).
There are problems with the Roman Catholic position. Firstly, when we look at the Greek of Matthew 16:18, we see something that is not evident in English. "… You are Peter (πέτρος Petros) and upon this rock (πέτρα, petra) I will build my church … "In Greek, nouns have gender. It is similar to English words actor and actress. The first is male and the second is feminine. Similarly, the Greek word "Petros" is masculine, "Petra" is feminine. Peter, man, is known as Petros. But Jesus said that the rock he would build his church was not on the male "Petros," but the feminine "petra." Let me illustrate by using the words "actor" and "actress": "You are the actor and actress for this I will make my movie." To see how the gender influences how a sentence is understood? Jesus was not saying that the church was built on Peter but on something else. So what does Petra, feminine noun, it refers to?
The female "Petra" occurs four times in the Greek New Testament:
Matt. 16:18, "And I also say to you that you are Peter (Petros) and upon this rock (petra) I will build my church and the gates of hell shall not dominate it."
Matt. 27:60, "and put him in his new tomb which he had hewn in the rock (petra), and he rolled a large stone against the entrance of the tomb and went away."
1 Cor. 10:4 "And all drank the same spiritual drink, because they drank from the spiritual rock (Petra) that followed, and the rock (petra) was Christ."
1 Pet. 2:8, speaking of Jesus says he is "a stone of stumbling and a rock (petra) of offense," because they are disobedient to face the floor, and this doom they were also named. "
We can clearly see that the other three uses of the Greek name Petra (nominative singular, Petras "in 1 Cor. 10:4 is genitive singular) we find that related to real estate as a great mass of rock in which is excavated in a tomb (Matthew 27:60) and in reference to Christ (1 Cor. 10:4, 1 Pet. 2:8). Note that the last verse in Peter referred to Jesus as Petra! If Peter uses the word as a reference to Jesus, then do not we?
Furthermore, the Greek lexicons and dictionaries give us more information about the two Greek words in question.

Petros: "πέτρος, a rock, distinguished from πέτρα
Petra: πέτρα, Ion. and Ep. πέτρη, a rock ledge or a shelf of rock, Od. 2. a rock, ie, a rocky peak or crest … Well, πέτρα is a rock, a stone πέτρος. "
Source: Vine, W., & Bruce, F. (1981, published in electronic form by Logos Research Systems, 1996). Vine's Expository Dictionary of Old and New Testament words (2:302). Old Tappan NJ: Revell.
PETRA πέτρα, (4073)) denotes a mass of rock, unlike Petros, a stone or rock separated, or a stone that could be released or moved easily.
A stone is mobile, volatile and this is exactly what we are in doubt when Peter walked on water, denying Jesus, and was rebuked by Paul in Antioch:
Matt. 14:29-30, "And Peter left the boat and walked on the water and came toward Jesus. 30 But seeing the wind, he became afraid, and beginning to sink, he cried, saying: "Lord, save me! "
Luke 22:57-58, "But he denied it, saying:" Woman, I do not know him. "58 and a little later, another saw him and said:" You're one of them too! "But Peter said, 'Man, I'm not!"
Gal. 2:11,14 "But when Cephas [Peter] came to Antioch, I opposed him in his face, because he was convicted … 14 But when I saw that they were not straightforward about the truth of the gospel, I said to Peter before all, 'Yes, this is a Jew, live like the Gentiles and not as the Jews, how to compel the Gentiles to live as Jews? "
Jesus, who knew the heart of Peter, saying that it was not Peter, movable stone, the building would be the rock on which the Church would be built. On the contrary, is based on Jesus, and it is this truth that Peter had said when he said to Jesus: "Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God" (Matthew 16:16). This is consistent with Scripture in other places where the term is sometimes used in reference rock of God, but never a man.
Deut. 32:3, "The Rock! His work is perfect, for all his ways are just, a God of faithfulness and without injustice. "
1 Sam. 22:2, "The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; 3 My God, my rock, in whom I take refuge."
Psalm 18:31, "And who is a rock except our God?"
Isaiah 44:8, "Is there a god besides me, or are there any other Rock? I know of none. "
Rom. 9:33, "Behold, I lay in Zion a stumbling stone and a rock of offense, and he who believes in him will not be disappointed."
It should be obvious from the Word of God that the rock Jesus was referring to was not Pedro, but himself.
The Aramaic Kepha
In contrast, in paragraph # 2 in the beginning of this article, the Catholic Church says that the rock can not refer to Jesus, "but only to Peter, as is more apparent in Aramaic in which the same word (Kipha) is for 'Pedro' and 'rock'. " The problem is that the text is in Aramaic, but Greek. Since we do not have the Aramaic text, it is not appropriate to refer to it as evidence of the Roman Catholic position.
Moreover, in John 1:42 says, "He brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, "You are Simon the son of John, you will be called Cephas" (which is translated Peter). "The word" Peter "is Petros, not petra. It is used to clarify the Aramaic kephas, which is not a name in Aramaic.
"Except Jn. 1:42, where Aramaic is used to elucidate kēphás Petros in the NT is used only as a name of Simon Peter …. The translation supports the view that Kēphás is not a proper name, usually from a non-translated names. "1
Jesus is the rock upon which the church is built
The truth is that Jesus is the only basis. The only truth is the rock of Jesus Christ and as depreciation, need to keep our eyes on him. Let's look at anyone else as the foundation, source, or hope that the church is built. The Church is based on Jesus, not Peter.
"No one can give another basis for the establishment, which is Jesus Christ" (1 Cor. 3:11).
Unable to refute, as the papal primacy is confirmed by Scripture. Protestants such as yourself, are usually ignorant of the verses that refute their dogmas and you do not understand the original Greek Koinè. For example, the Greek "you" addressed to Pedro is unique and therefore refers only to Peter, not the plural "you" as a Protestant, which depend only on the average frequency of English. But there are other signs besides this one verse that support Catholic teaching. For example, when Christ said to be "one flock" and asks Peter three times to feed their sheep and shepherd. The consequences are obvious and the early Church understood. Later, the protesters were forced to ignore the story and writing in order to justify themselves to their rebellion against God and His Church in the deformation.
I keep inviting the Baptists and Protestants to discuss this in detail in my Bible Catholic group, but so far no one has had the courage to face the truth. You're invited. If you really want to know what the Bible says to me: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/catholicbi …
I am a former Protestant who converted to myself for the scriptures and the study of history.
Catholics seem to believe that going to heaven because they are Catholics. Take into account the word of God instead of tradition. The Pope has the last word, either in Scripture or not. They believe that the Pope about the word of God. Pedro was not the first Pope and that has been established from the outset. The Bible never mentioned the name, nor say anything about a dad. Peter was a faithful servant to God and the rock that Jesus built his church. In my humble opinion, was an example of faith for the rest of us. Catholocism is a cult, IMO, and are not a true Christian faith. Any church that places the tradition of the Scriptures is not a true Christian faith. I also find it very disturbing that some Catholics read the Bible for themselves, they just accept what they preached and what is worse is that it seems that I speak for all Christians throughout the world, when most of us of the Christian faith did not accept the teachings of the Catholics. That do not dissolve, because they are too powerful and wealthy organization. But Jesus will have a few things to say to them some day and I am sure that the name Catholic to be very surprised to learn that theirs is not the true church of Christ!
The following is taken from an article by David L. Riggs, who put in much better condition;
The apostle Peter was a pope?
In the books of men, the following titles are used in connection with a man: "Pope", "Holy Father, Vicar of Christ, Supreme Pontiff." These are titles that rightly belong only to the Lord Jesus Christ and God the Father. Not a single instance in scripture where any of these titles apply to a man. The term "Holy Father" is used only once in the entire Bible, and is used by Jesus in the treatment of God the Father. (John 17:11)
Among the titles are above the bold assertion that the Pope is the Vicar of Christ. "A" vicar "is" One acts as a substitute or agent; permission to perform the functions of other higher office. "(Webster). When one searches the Bible from cover to cover, there is only one step that gives an indication of a vicar of Christ or God. It is 2 Thess. 2:3-4, which reads as follows:
"Let no one deceive you in any way for the Lord's day will not come unless the apostasy comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition, who opposes and is exalted above all that is called God or is worshiped, so that it sits in the temple of God and gives himself as if he were God. "
Some now argue that the religious man is saved by faith alone. However, there is only one passage in the entire Bible that has the word "faith" and "just" and said together, "not by faith only" (James 2:24). Catholics today speak of the Pope as vicar, taking the place of God (Christ is God, Matt. 1:23, John 1:1), but there is only one step in the entire Bible which speaks of a man doing such and is called the "man of sin."
Cardinal James Gibbons, a Catholic Archbishop said, "Jesus our Lord, founded but one Church, that He is pleased to take Peter. Therefore, any church that does not recognize Peter as its cornerstone is the Church of Christ, and therefore can not remain as it is not God's work. "(Faith of Our Fathers, p. 82). The apostle Paul said, "For other foundation can no man, but it has been established, which is Christ Jesus" (1 Cor. 3:11). There is no other foundation but Christ! Therefore, any church that does not recognize Christ alone as the first stone may not be the church of Christ.
Catholic writers often speak of "the primacy of Peter" and "the primacy of the Pope." However, Col. 1:18, speaking of Christ, says, "And he is the head of body, the church, which is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that all things that can keep the lead. .. "Therefore, with reference to the authority in the church, the Lord Jesus Christ has primacy in all things. This leaves nothing for the Pope!
Catholics say the pope is the visible head of the church. Please note the following from Catholic sources:
"The pope, therefore, as vicar of Christ is the head of the kingdom of Christ on earth, the Church, which Christ Himself is the invisible head." (Answer correctly by Martin J. Scott, p. 49).
"According to the will of Christ, all its members profess the same faith, have the same worship and Sacraments, and are united under one head and the Pope." (Father Smith Instructs Jackson by John F . Noll and Lester J. Fallon, p. 42)
Catholic officials always use the word "visible" no doubt thinking that it eliminates the Pope's thinking is in opposition to the headship of Christ, and removes the apparent problem of having a church with two heads. However, the Scriptures nowhere teach the idea of a head seen and unseen. Jesus said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me." (Matthew 28:18; Emp. D.R. mine).
Luke 17:20-21 says: "And when asked by the Pharisees," When is the kingdom of God come from? "He answered and said unto them, The kingdom of God is a surprise. Needless to say, 'Look, here it is,' or 'Look, there it is. "For behold the kingdom of God is within you. "The kingdom of God is a spiritual kingdom and therefore needs only a spiritual leader or king.
Eph. 5:23-25 shows that Christ is the sole head of the church. "Let wives be subject to your husbands as to the Lord because the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is head of the Church of El Salvador is the body itself. But like the Church is subject to Christ, so also wives if their husbands in everything. "The woman is subject to her husband as the church is Christ. As the wife is subject to one head - her husband, the church is subject to one head - Christ. Like the husband does not send a substitute to rule over his wife, Christ does not authorize a surrogate to speak on his bride, the church.
Catholics often use the expression: "One fold and one shepherd" to sustain the doctrine of the papacy. (See Catholic Catechism for Adults, p. 59, q. 3). They teach that the "one shepherd" is the Pope and the lid represents the Catholic Church. Listen to what Jesus said about it:
"I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives his life for his sheep … I am the good shepherd, and I know mine and mine know me, even as the Father knows me and I know the Father, and I lay down my life for my sheep. And I have other sheep that are not of this fold. I must bring them also, and hear my voice, and there will be one flock and one shepherd. "(John 10:11, 14-16).
Jesus is a good shepherd. If one can understand that one and one equals two, we can understand this. If one is subject to Christ as a pastor - who is one. If an item is the Pope as the Pastor - the two!
The church is often compared to the human body in the Scriptures. Church members representing the different parts of the body. Christ is always said to the head. (See 1 Cor. 12:12-27, Eph. 1:22-23, 4:15-16). Our question is: "What part of the body is the Pope?" Besides, "How do you get the idea of a sub-head on the body?"
One of the major arguments against the primacy of Peter is the fact that the apostles had an argument between them as to which of them should be the highest. Observe the following:
"Now there is a dispute between them, which of them was reputed to be the greatest. But he said: "The kings of the Gentiles lord who on them, and those who exercise authority over them are called benefactors. But not so with you. Instead, let the greater among you be the youngest, who is head of the servant. "(Luke 22:24-26).
The very fact that the apostles had an argument between them shows that it understands that Peter was going to be prince. Moreover, when the argument was the night of the betrayal - the last night of the Lord's earthly ministry - and yet the apostles still did not understand that Christ had given Peter a position of primacy. The Lord settled the argument, not stating that he had already made Peter head, but by declaring that the Gentiles have their heads, "But not with you." Thus Jesus taught very clearly that no one would occupy any place as a benefactor (or Pope) to exercise authority over others.
I think somethings mischaracterized to prove his point. Original name was Simon Peter. Jesus could not have called Peter "Petra" (meaning large rock, which is female), because as you know, in Greek should be all adjectives agree in gender and case number.
Another problem with interpretation is the unanimous testimony of the manuscripts, the parallel passages in other Gospels, and the fixed belief of the literature pre-Constantine provide the surest evidence of the genuineness and untampered state the text of Matthew (cf. "Stimmen aus MariaLaach" I 1896.129 sqq. "Theologie und Glaube", II, 1910, 842 sqq.).
His difficulty with the Passion of Christ
On several occasions Peter speaks on behalf of the other Apostles (Matthew 15:15, 19:27, Luke 12:41, etc.). When Christ's words are addressed to all the Apostles, Peter answers in your name (eg Matthew 16:16). Often the Savior becomes especially to Peter (Matthew 26:40, Luke 22:31, etc.).
Very characteristic is the expression of true fidelity to Jesus, Peter, who has directed him in the name of the other Apostles. Christ, after he has spoken of the mystery of the reception of His Body and Blood (John 6:22 sqq.) And many of his disciples had left him, he asked the Twelve if they too must leave, Peter answer comes immediately "Lord to whom shall we go? has words of eternal life. We believe and know that you are the Holy One of God "(Vulgate 'You are the Christ, the Son of God"). Christ Himself unmistakably Peter gives a special priority and first among the Apostles, and designates it for that on several occasions. Peter was one of the Apostles (with James and John) who were with Christ on certain occasions, raising the daughter of Jairus from the dead (Mark 5:37, Luke 8:51), the Transfiguration of Christ (Matthew 17: 1, Mark 9:1, Luke 9:28), the Agony in the Garden of Gethsemane (Matthew 26:37, Mark 14:33). On several occasions also Christ in favor of it, above all others, He comes into Peter's boat on Lake Genesareth to preach to the crowd on the shore (Luke 5:3) when he was miraculously walking on water He called Peter to come to Him in the lake (Matthew 14:28 sqq.) He sent him to the lake to catch fish in whose mouth Peter found the Stater like to pay tribute (Matthew 17:24 sqq.).
Despite this weakness, his position as head of the Apostles was later confirmed by Jesus, and his precedence was not less impressive after the Resurrection than before. Women, who were the first to find the empty tomb of Christ, received the angel a special message for Peter (Mark 16:7). To him alone of the Apostles of Christ in the first days after the resurrection (Luke 24:34, 1 Corinthians 15:5). But most importantly, when he appeared in Lake Genesareth Christ to Peter renewed his special commission to feed and defend His flock, after Peter has said three times his love for his Master (John 21 :15-17). In conclusion Christ foretold the violent death Peter would suffer and, therefore, invited him to follow him in a special way (John 21:20-23). This is called Peter and trained for the Apostleship and clothed with the primacy of the Apostles, who acted in a more clear after the Ascension of Christ in heaven.
St. Peter in Jerusalem and Palestine after the Ascension
Our information on the first apostolic activity of St. Peter in Jerusalem, Judea, and the districts stretching northwards as far as Syria is predominantly derived from the first portion of the Acts of the Apostles, and in parallel is confirmed by step in the statements of the Epistles of St. Paul.
Among the multitude of apostles and disciples who, after the Ascension of Christ into heaven from Mount Olivet, returned to Jerusalem to await the fulfillment of his promise to send the Holy Spirit, Peter is immediately evident that the leader of all and is henceforth constantly recognized as the leader of the Christian community in Jerusalem. He takes the initiative in the appointment to the Apostolic College of another witness of life, death and resurrection of Christ to replace Judas (Acts 1:15-26). After the descent of the Holy Spirit on the feast of Pentecost, Peter stood at the head of the Apostles, delivered the first public sermon to proclaim the life, death and resurrection of Jesus, and wins a large number of Jews who converted to Christian community (Acts 2:14-41). First of the Apostles he worked a miracle, when John went to the temple and heal the lame man at Gate Beautiful. The agglomeration of people in awe of the two apostles, who preached a long sermon on the Portico of Solomon, and brings new increase to the flock of believers (Acts 3:1-4:4).
In the subsequent consideration of the Apostles before the Jewish High Council, Peter defends undismayed dramatically and cause of Jesus and of the obligation and liberty of the Apostles to preach the Gospel (Acts 4:5-21). When Ananias and Sapphira attempt to deceive the apostles Peter and the people appear as a judge of their action, and God executes the sentence of punishment passed by the Apostle, causing sudden death of the two culprits (Acts 5:1-11). By numerous miracles God confirms the Apostolic activity of Christ's confessors, and there's also a special mention of Peter, as it is recorded that the inhabitants of Jerusalem and the neighboring towns brought their sick in their beds in the streets for the shadow of Peter falling on them and what can be healed (Acts 5:12-16). The increasing number of the faithful Jews caused the supreme council to take further measures against the Apostles, but "Peter and the Apostles" answer "must obey God rather than men" (Acts 5:29 sqq. ). Not only in Jerusalem Peter was working on fulfilling the mission entrusted to him by his Master. Also, keep the relationship with other Christian communities in Palestine, and preached the Gospel both there and in the lands further north. When Philip the Deacon had won a large number of believers in Samaria, Peter and John were appointed to proceed beyond Jerusalem to organize the community and to invoke the Holy Spirit to descend upon the faithful. Peter appears a second time as judge in the case of Simon the magician, who wanted to buy from the Apostles the power that can also invoke the Holy Spirit (Acts 8:14-25). On his way back to Jerusalem, the two Apostles preached the joyous news of the Kingdom of God. Later, after the departure of Paul to Jerusalem and the conversion before Damascus, the Christian communities in Palestine were left in peace by the Jewish council.
Peter now missionary undertook an extensive tour that took him to the maritime cities, Lydda, Joppa and Caesarea. In Lydda Eneas to cure paralysis in Joppa raised Tabitha (Dorcas) from the dead, and at Caesarea, instructed by a vision he had in Joppa, the baptized and received into the Church the first non-Jewish Christians, the centurion Cornelius and their relatives (Acts 9:31-10:48). Pedro's return to Jerusalem, a little later, the strict Jewish Christians who believed that the full observance of Jewish law as binding on all, asked him why he had entered and eaten in the house of the uncircumcised. Peter spoke of his vision and defends his action, which was ratified by the Apostles and the faithful in Jerusalem (Acts 11:1-18).
A confirmation of the position to Peter by Luke in the Acts, offers the testimony of St. Paul (Galatians 1:18-20). After his conversion, and three years' residence in Arabia, Paul went to Jerusalem to see Peter. " Here, the Apostle of the Gentiles clearly designates Peter as the authorized head of the Apostles and the early Christian Church. Pedro long residence in Jerusalem and Palestine soon came to an end. Herod Agrippa I began (AD 42-44) a new persecution of the Church in Jerusalem, after the execution of James, the son of Zebedee, this ruler had Peter cast into prison, intending that he also executed after The Passover was over. Peter, however, was freed in a miraculous way, and proceed to the house of the mother of John Mark, where many of the faithful gather for prayer, informed them of his release from the hands of Herod, to communicate the fact that James and the brothers, and then left to go to Jerusalem "another place" (Acts 12:1-18). As for San Pedro de la activity after not receiving more connected to the information from existing sources, but have short announcements of a number of episodes of his later life.
Missionary journeys in the East, Council of the Apostles
Luke does not tell us where was Peter after his release from prison in Jerusalem. Incidental statements we know that later made extensive missionary tours in the East, although it gives no clue to the chronology of his travels. It is true that remained for a time in Antioch, which may even have returned there several times. The Christian community of Antioch was founded by Christianized Jews who had been expelled from Jerusalem by persecution (Acts 11:19 sqq.). Pedro residence among them is demonstrated by the episode concerning the observance of the Jewish ceremonial law even by Christianized pagans, related by St. Paul (Galatians 2:11-21). The head of the apostles in Jerusalem - the "pillars", Peter, James and John - had unreservedly approved St. Paul's ministry to the Gentiles, while they intended to manpower primarily among the Jews. While Paul was dwelling in Antioch (the date can not be ac
Wow, its interpretation and assumptions are so far away it is difficult to even know where to start. Because you think you have used an incomplete understanding of the papacy, then pull a few verses of the Bible, that Jesus is making a play on words (it says?), Decided that because Paul is not mentioned in a letter Peter, because the New Testament does not mention that the Pope … do all this unrelated things together and reach a not an unproven theory.
First, Jesus spoke Aramaic, which would have been "Peter" and Peter Rock. So when Jesus says that in reality, he said: "You are Peter and on this Cefas I build my church." There is a play on words that you assume.
Catholics agree that the cornerstone of the Church is Christ. Without Christ, the role of Peter as the first Pope and head of the Catholic Church would not. But because Christ refers to himself in other places as a foundation, head, and so does not detract from the fact that He instituted his Church, giving the keys to Peter. Read Isaiah 22 and find that the delivery of the keys is significant. This means the transfer of authority and responsibility. Which argues that the key is the "master of the palace until the master returns. He has the authority. So, in reality, Christ was Peter the head of the office of the Church until his return. This office continues to maintain that authority because Christ has not returned yet. Papa is not the word used in the first place, so it means nothing that is not mentioned. It has little to do with the authority of the office he held Peter.
Just because Paul is not welcome in the letter of Peter, does not mean anything. It takes a lot of assumptions to believe that Peter did not mention anything means. We do not have enough information to make that leap.
Why did Paul not write that Peter was elected? Why him? I did not know his writings are used to prove or disprove something. He was writing a letter to the Christians to encourage them in their faith and teach them. The town was most probably written knew Peter was the head, and need not be told.
The Church has never claimed that the Pope as a man, is infallible and perfect. Peter as a man is not perfect, that we have much evidence of the Bible. However, because of their faith and love of Christ, became the rock upon which Christ built his Church.
The Pope is not the doctrine. Doctrine of the Church, all stem from the church in which parents, leaders, and Pope discuss, pray, research, and decide. Christ promised the Holy Spirit does not leave us and that Holy Spirit has guided the Catholic Church since the days of Pentacost. Do you think you lied to Christ and the Holy Spirit did leave his church? Christ promised the gates of hell shall not prevail against it … and that promise has remained well.
Their hypothesis does not prove anything. There is much more evidence for than against the papacy. http://www.fisheaters.com/rock.htmlhttp://members.aol.com/joyinliving7/keys…http://matt1618.freeyellow.com/peter.htm…http://www. fisheaters.com / papolatry.html
you are right, but shall not make a difference for a Catholic.
Jesus is the rock.
