Is it true that when you die a Catholic who believed that going to a place called Purgatory?
If so could you give me some Bible verses that say about me as I am a Christian, but I have not read about it in the Bible.
We also do believe that Catholics can pray for a person who has died to go to heaven but not a Christian? if so could you give me references to the Bible as well.
Just because I have heard so many things about the Catholic faith and would like to know of a Catholic to know what they believe.
- A Catholic? Were in the Bible does say About Purgatory and praying to Mary?
- Teachings of the Catholic is a place called Purgatory The False Gospel of teaching?
- What happens when we die? Is there a place like Purgatory? Go there it's like to clean our soul before heaven
- I do not think my grandfather believed in God 100%, going to hell?
- What is the Catholic "About the doctrine of purgatory?" Is it Biblical?

My mother is not Catholic, but she believes in the outer darkness (which is approximately the same as the Catholic purgatory).
She believes that when a believer is not good enough for heaven going to the outer darkness for 1000 years, after which enables the heavens.
when you die if you are not completely pure and therefore enter the purgatory and was clensed of their sins then you will go to heaven
Purgatory is a place of purification before I go to heaven but I do not know much more than that yet. I just started RCIA.
Here are the two series of brochures that I began to read.
Found in a Purgatoryhttp: / / http://www.kofc.org / un / eb / en / publication …
It all depends …
1 Cor 3:12 Now if any man build upon this foundation, gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble:
1 Cor 3:13 Every man's work is manifested. For the day of the Lord shall declare, as evidenced in the fire. And the fire is every man's work, what type it is.
(SKY)
1 Cor 3:14 If any of respecting the work that has built thereon, shall receive a reward.
(Purgatorio)
1 Cor 3:15 If any work recording Mans, who shall suffer loss, but he himself shall be saved, but so as by fire.
1 Cor 3:16 Do you not know that you are God's temple and that God's Spirit dwells in you?
(Hell)
1 Cor 3:17 If a man violate the temple of God, the God destroy. For God's temple is holy, you are.
As for non-Christians and salvation:
Rom 2:13 For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the protagonists of the law will be justified.
Rom 2:14 For when the Gentiles, not the law, by nature do the things that are of the law, which, not having the law, are a law for themselves.
Rom 2:15 Who Shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience bearing witness to them and their thoughts between themselves accusing the defense of one or another
Rom 2:16 In the day when God will judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel.
only if necessary to purge the entry to heaven if you believe in heaven either.
Matt. 12:32 - Jesus says, "And whoever says a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will be pardoned neither in this world or the next." Jesus therefore, clearly states that there is forgiveness after death. The phrase "the next" (from the Greek "to mellonti") generally refers to the other (see, for example, Mark 10.30, Luke 18.30; 20,34-35; Eph. 1.21 to similar wording). Forgiveness is not necessary in heaven, and there is no forgiveness in hell. This demonstrates that there is another state after death, and the Church of 2000 years this state has called Purgatory.
God willing I will go to purgatory when they die. Why is the hope of Purgatory? Simple, I know that I am not without sin in my actions or thoughts. Purgatory away from my sins and make me pure walking in the company of God.
Purgatory is not a waiting room, while God decides who goes to heaven or to hell. It is a cleansing of the soul.
As to what the Bible has to say:
Lk 12:58-59, 1 Cor 3:15; Mt 5:25-26 … temporary agony.
Hebrews 12:6-11 … God discipline painful.
Mt 12:32 … no forgiveness … nor in the age to come.
1 Peter 4:6 … preached to the dead.
Rev 21:27 … nothing unclean shall enter heaven.
Hebrews 12:23 … souls in heaven are perfect.
Col 1:24, 2 Sam 12:13-14 … "Extra" suffering.
2 Mac 12:43-46 … sacrifice for the dead.
2 Tim 1:15-18 … Onesiphorus sentence for "that day."
1 John 5:14-17 … mortal / venial sins
Remember, "Trinity" is not in the Bible, but all (the Christians) who believe. Moreover, when not in the Bible is not to say that the books are there, or just to say what's in the Bible is to be believed or practiced.
May the Peace and Love of our Risen Lord be with you always.
Pax et Bonum
Catholics believe that when sinners do not repent and to forgive his sins, go to purgatory (a place between heaven and hell). They believe that they will remain there until their sins are forgiven. Something like …
"But if someone's work is burned up, it will suffer a loss, the person is saved, but only through fire." (1 Corinthians 3:15)
"Thus the authenticity of their faith, more precious than gold which is perishable evidence, though by fire, may be praise, glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ." (1 Peter 1:7)
Is it perfect now? Most people would say no.
Will it be perfect in heaven? Most people believe so.
Purgatory (or purgation) is the process of God's love changing our imperfect beings themselves perfect.
Depending on the amount of change required by different people, this may be a little easier or process.
Everyone in purgatory is on its way to heaven.
I do not think Mother Teresa of Calcutta had a very hard time of it.

With love in Christ.
Yes Catholics who die with venial sins will go to purgatory. Those who have a mortal sin or is going to hell. Those who are not pure enough to go to heaven to go to purgatory to atone for their sins, because if they are fully prepared to see God we must be purified of the penalties in time due to our sins, because God is merciful and fair to all. The Bible makes no mention of purgatory, but we were told that because there are people in the Bible, especially in the Old Testament prayed for the dead so they can go to heaven. If you were already in heaven maybe there is no need to pray for them, but the fact that they prayed for their loved one is killed in a place where they say after the prayers for his soul, then you can go to heaven . This is why we pray for those who have died, maybe even if they were not Christians. God wants all souls be saved and He wants all souls go to heaven, so we pray for the dead, so all souls can go to heaven as soon as possible.
Cleaning or sanctification is a gradual process and we must persevere to the end to be saved.
(DRB Mat 10:22) And ye shall be hated by all men for my name, but to persevere to the end will be saved.
(DRB Mat 24:13) But he who shall endure to the end will be saved.
(DRB Mar 13:13) And ye shall be hated by all men for my name. But that will last until the end will be saved.
Catholic soteriology recognizes that some of us the process was not completed with the death or who died with the unrepentant sin.
(Hebrews 9:27 DRB) And that is assigned to men once to die, but after this trial:
The verdict is our eternal destiny and those on whose behalf is the Lamb's book of life, heaven is assured. However, we know that one must be sinless to be in God's presence.
(1Ti 6:14 DRB) that you keep the commandment without spot, blameless until the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ,
It is possible that no one is willing to be in the presence of our Lord as they might be deficient in spiritual or temporal effects forgiven our sins in the soul which is necessary for some form of purification in order to enter heaven in the presence of God. Since this is a process of purgation is called purgatory, and in accordance with the prophecy of the prophet Habakkuk, who says that only the holy can enter heaven.
(Hab 1:13 DRB) Your eyes are too pure to see the evil, and you can not look to the iniquity. Why lookest you do unjust things, and your peace holdest harmdoers devoureth when the man who is more fair to him?
St. Paul also teaches a process of purgation which can involve suffering in the soul of Christians and in his first letter to the Church of Corinth, which describes the process of purgation after death.
(DRB 1 Cor 3:10) According to God's grace given to me as a wise architect I have laid the foundation and another builds thereon. But all men have in mind what is built thereon.
(DRB 1 Cor 3:11) For other foundation can no man, but what he states, that is Christ Jesus.
(DRB 1 Cor 3:12) But if any man build upon this foundation, gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble:
(1 Cor 3:13 DRB) All men's work is manifested. For the day of the Lord shall declare, as evidenced in the fire. And the fire is every man's work, what type it is.
(DRB 1 Cor 3:14) If anyone's work abide, which has built on this, get a reward.
(DRB 1 Cor 3:15) If any work recording Mans, who shall suffer loss, but he himself shall be saved, but so as by fire.
St. Paul speaks figuratively of the results of sin remaining in the soul is like the "wood, hay and straw and burned away in the final purification process that is received in the presence of the Lord. St. Paul also speaks of one of the works such as gold, silver and precious stones, which are refined and stored.
This passage reminds me of what Christ said in the next, indicating that some sins can be forgiven after death.
(DRB Mat 12:32) Then speak a word against the Son of man can be forgiven, but to speak against the Holy Spirit, you will not be forgiven neither in this world, neither in the world to come.
Purgatory is also related to the parable of the unmerciful servant who is following …
(DRB Mat 18:32) Then his lord called him and told him: Thou wicked servant, I forgave the entire debt, because you besoughtest me:
(Mat 18:33 DRB) then you should not have compassion for your partner in public, even when I had pity on thee?
(DRB Mat 18:34) And his lord being angry, delivered him to the torturers until he paid the entire debt.
After telling the parable of Christ is emphasized in his message not to be confused with this warning … … ..
(DRB Mat 18:35) So also my heavenly Father will do to you, if not each forgive your brother from your heart.
Christ is warning us of the danger of a hard heart or anger that we are willing to forgive others. We must recognize that these are the signs and the example of a defect in need of purging the soul so that it may be imperfect in the presence of God and live in the glory. (See CCC 1030-1032)

Like heaven or hell, the purgatory of the word refers to a place and a state. Catholics believe that there is a purgatory to purge the souls that are not yet pure enough for heaven, but they have not died in a severe state of mortal sin. Those saints must be almost a matter of intense pain of longing for God, until you have paid the debt of temporal punishment due for their sins on earth. In a word, the purgatory that is holy to be ready for the purity of God's presence. If one fails to become a saint on earth, however, escapes an eternal hell, which is purified in Purgatory
All souls are in heaven pugatory required.
darth hey - that has been given by the scriptures and some other Catholics asnwers silly for not Catholic. to read the Bible - there will be a time of sentencing after you die. There are sins that are forgiven in the next life. we have to make ammends for our sins. Welcome …. They say that death and are awaiting the decision to - say die unforgiven, and with some things you have to repent and make ammends. This is a part of the concept of purgatory. the prayers we offer if someone dies …. if you are the dead and stand before the sentence in that exact moment - are the prayers to God for the happy reposse soul. we do not know God's time or the resolution.
Well, I'm Catholic and I have heard that it is part of the teaching of the church and I also heard that not many Catholic priests to ask these questions and if they all say the same thing aporxamately his Pritty safe to say that this is the correct answer.
This website addresses all main issues of the Catholic faith and shows and explains the Bible to refer to Scripture lessons: http://www.scripturecatholic.com. It is a great resource, easy to use and very informative. God bless.
You will not find the word purgatory in bile, but the doctrine is there. You also do not find the words, Holy Trinity, Incarnation, Rapture, etc. in the Bible, but there are doctrines.
In the Gospel of Matthew, we read: "Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven him, but anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit, will not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the age to come. "(Matthew 12:32) This means that your sins may be forgiven in the age to come - after death. If you're in hell, then we do not want our sins forgiven. If we are in heaven, then we have no sins. Therefore, there must be another place where sins can be forgiven.
Paul, in his First Letter to the Corinthians, says: "If someone's work is burned, he will suffer loss, but he himself will be saved, however, so that through fire." (1 Corinthians 3:15) Paul says that on the Day of Reckoning each man's work will be tested. This trial happens after death. What if a person leaves the job of proof? He is saved, but so that through the fire - the Purgatorio.
Around 125 BC, Judas Maccabaeus sent money to Jerusalem so that the sacrifice is offered to the soldiers who died in battle. "It was an atonement for the dead who could be freed from this sin." (2 Maccabees 12:46 NAB) Although this book is not accepted as part of the canon of Scripture, which still has historical value as we said what happened around 125 BC. The book of Revelation says, "But in no way should she go into all that défilé, or causes an abomination or a lie, but only those which are written in the Lamb's Book of Life." (Revelation 21:27 ) Since Defilé not enter heaven, then a person who dies a little sin in his soul would be doomed to hell for all eternity. But God is merciful. He gave us a place where purified before entering heaven, and that place is called Purgatory. Purgatory is not a sign of God's wrath. It is a wonderful example of the infinite mercy of God.
NO is a second chance. Our final destination is determined by the condition of our souls at the time of our death.

I challenge you to post your comments so we can respond to them appropriately. I am willing to discuss with you if you wish.
only if you have an unresolved problem that …. Sky Bar …. as a waiting area …. something akin to seeing the judge …. in this case, the judge is GOD!
I'm sitting back and watching people who are not Catholics explain what "they" (Catholics, of course) feel as if there was any real knowledge behind the statements.
It's becoming very entertaining, actually. This happens every time there is a question addressed to the Catholics. Most of us hop and does not purport to answer the questions specifically addressed to a church … at least not to hit the church in question. Nobody seems to have no problem to a large extent the addition of their two-sided percent of the value to questions of this kind, however.
Nevertheless, the responses got the Catholics with verses from the Bible, as requested. I can not improve on their entrance, but since this is an open forum, I am adding my own two cents.
"If anyone says' I love God and hates his brother is a liar, for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, can not love God whom he has not seen" (1 John 4:20)
Purgatory is an idea of dying slowly.
It is no longer supported by Rome.
Love and blessings Don
Good luck with this … no scripture to back this up and I think therefore that are being terrible about the word of God through the teaching of this …
They have their own Bible.
I do not believe in these things, especially if there is money to help loved ones reach. Jesus does not favor the rich.
Please consider renting the movie Luther. (near Martin Luther) is really very good and has a lot of Catholic history.
Purgatory was invented to explain the contradiction inherent in Christianity to explain what happens to people after death, but before the Day of Reckoning.
Hmm 14-15 at Century Catholic priests used to sell the purgatory of salvation to his followers shakes head *
Yes, to pray for all souls in purgatory. Who taught us (i was raised Catholic), that purgatory is a place for all who died with their souls of sins (confession was not) who could not go directly to heaven, but they were not bad enough to go to hell (or small venial sins, as opposed to mortal sins to be damned). Enough with prayers, I believe that God forgives. I could never figure out where they came with that concept, except in one of the councils of the Vatican (where the Pope and bishops gather all the theology that the church will continue). It was really difficult to question the nuns when I was in catechism class.
I think people who do not know any better go to limbo … at least that is where they say that babies unbaptised go. And I think that applies to all those who have not been introduced to the Catholic religion as well but I'm not sure. I also think we have eliminated some of these concepts of theology recently to the horror of some of the older Catholics (see Polish National Church, which broke because they disagree with the changes)
