Purgatory does not teach that Christ's sacrifice was enough, but it teaches that "nothing sinful or unclean can enter heaven."
Do not pay to have a mass said, is a voluntary donation … not required. Most people donate money, because they see it as a gift in the name of the deceased. People do this all the time on other aspects of life … planting trees, make bricks, to give charity … in the name of their loved ones.

I am a former Catholic. What is purgatory implies that Jesus' death on the cross was not enough to save men from their sins. So they can work outside for a long period of time. I know some still practice it. Recently, my friends mother died. A friend of the family pays to have a mass said for her. That was really a shot again to all the indulgence he had problems with Luther. You can not buy someone out of purgatory.
