Question Religion? (Welcome Christian/catholics- …)?

(this is going to sound all religious. sorry.)
Now, I believe in God and I am a Catholic. But I see everyone in the church and I feel dirty.
Because I believe so many things to the Catholics. change religions say that, but I like being Catholic.
I absolutely think that the confession is like a bunch of garbage to frighten the hell out of you.
I mean, why not go to the Lord and confess.
Besides, I do not think that's going to hell if you do not confess. All of us would be in hell, then.
(Also, I hate how Catholics (as I know) I think it is right to hate those non-Christian.)
So I guess my real question is why we must go to confession anyway?
I heard the story about the cut half of the cows, etc.
thanks to all who respond in any faith.
  Continue to be yourself.

It used to be a Catholic and I have shared your feelings - all of them! I hated the Roman Catholic Church parade, which does not seem farther away from the Lord>
Then I met my future husband, who talked to me about Christ, what He did for us and what is Christianity - a relationship (one to one) with the Lord. And I gave my life to Christ.
No need to confess to a priest - that will not take you to heaven!
The only way to Heaven is repentance and faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
      Dios te bendiga
ps: the word "confession" means "under" and that means that you agree verbally with the spirit in you, not condemnation. So you need a priest, but you need to have the Spirit of God in you, in order to receive forgiveness. And the Spirit of God (Holy Spirit) dwelling in that comes through faith in Jesus Christ alone.
Misty, why not cite the Bible instead of reading some Catholics?

  2. solidsna says:

You confess your sins, because the church needs to fear hell, so you follow the religion to brainwash their children into the same fear, therefore, the continuation of religion for the next generation.
Instead of living your life in fear, you must pick up a copy of the delusion of God, Richard Dawkins, and open your mind to things that can be demonstrated, such as science.

I am a non-denominational Christian and I believe that everything we do Catholics, except the saints and confession. I am beginning to believe in saints, though. I believe in saints, I do not pray with them. As you said, their problems and taking things directly to God.

We can communicate with a higher being in our own house instead of a church.
We do not need to confess, you know
The fact that atheists who hosted this conversation means that you are looking for the truth. It's OK if it takes some time to come … just keep your eyes open and question everything
Welcome to the world of thought.

  5. cmsturro says:

Catholics in general do not hate non-Christians, who know only a few hitches. Do not judge the church by some idiots. It is a great institution, is bound to include some idiots.
I'm not sure what the doctrine is today, but I think that whenever you sincerely repent of your sins OK. Confession is only supposed to be easier. If you really want to know what the church teaches should ask a priest or religious ed teacher.

  6. KI says:

I would say that considering what you like and dislike about being Catholic … but it sounds like some things that bother you. You say you like being Catholic, but what do you like him?
Try a more liberal denomination maybe …
Atheist in my view is right about the confession.

Jesus' warning was not to call a father on earth, as in a title (Matthew 23:9) Also, do not call anyone your father on earth, one is your Father, the heavenly One man somebody has to confess he is actually trying to put their feet in Jesus sandals.Note what the Bible says (1 Timothy 2:5) For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, man, Jesus Christ, that is why Jesus said to pray for my prayer is not scriptural name.Confession.

But the confession, the Eucharist and repetance have been around 2000 years, the tradition still practiced in the Orthodox Church for nearly 2000 years after the division of us Catholics, many things changed, uncluding the Doctrine and Tradition , and now they are completely anti-Christian.

  13. Hannah says:

It used to be Catholic, and I know exactly what you mean. You can go to God yourself. No priest has the right to say you are forgiven. God forgives you every time you confess. Once you confess what you need to forget. Priests do it only to ensure that PPL confession so threatening. Is wrong, but that's what it is.
      I hope I helped.
You do not go to hell if you do not confess. The only way to go to hell if they do not believe in God and Jesus.

The Bible says that Jesus has become our Great High Priest. Hebrews 4: 14. Definitely must confess our sins, but Jesus, because the Bible says that He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

U confession to the Lord, nobody else could u want to go to a church baptis.

  19. sparki77 says:

Confession is going to confess to the Lord Himself. The priest is only listening to help you along. Note that the act of contrition starts, "Oh my God, I sincerely feel that I have offended you …" It deals with the priest, but the Lord, you see.
Honestly, it sounds like all you really need is a little education. The Bible commands us to confess to someone else (James 5:16). The advantages of going to a priest include (a) the priest is obliged to keep their private sins under penalty of mortal sin if you tell anyone what he confessed - in fact most priests learn to forget what has said second leaving the confessional … (b), priests also are trained to give good counsel to you for help avoid the same sin (s) in the future … (c) the priests who have already heard before, so there is not shocking that, as you might if he confessed to a friend (who may or may not know how you and the lawyer can or can not maintain their confidence). .. and (d) of the priest has been granted the power to declare Christ forgiven by the blood of Jesus (see John 20:21-22), a simple layman who can not give you.
Therefore, you see, is not about "scaring the hell out of you." It is about giving freedom of forgiveness in Christ.
We can not speak for Catholics know hate non-Christians - which is actually a very anti-Catholic attitude. In general, that the evangelicals do not hate Christians.

  20. Daver says:

    RECONCILIATION
The act or state of restoration of friendship between God and man, or between two people. Reconciliation with God is necessary after a person has lost through friendship divine grave sin. Requires the sinner to repentance and forgiveness from God. The desire to be reconciled with another person is a necessary condition for obtaining God's mercy.
      CONFESSION
Voluntary self-accusation of sins to a priest skilled in order to obtain absolution from him. This accusation should be a demonstration outside. Must be completely objective in all the penitent confesses mortal sin according to the number and kind that he has committed since his last worthy of receiving the sacrament of penance. In extraordinary circumstances a subjectively full confession is sufficient, ie, when circumstances prevent a person accused himself of all his serious sins. He is, however, obliged to confess all mortal sins in a time of receiving the sacrament.
When there are no mortal sins to confess, it is enough to confess the sins of past life past or present any venial sins for which a person has been convicted, in order to obtain absolution and grace of the sacrament of penance. (In Etym. Latin, fateri + background, to recognize: confessio, confession.)
The need and practice of oral confession of sins
James 5:16 - James clearly teaches us that we must "confess our sins to each other," not just privately to God. James 5:16 must be read in the context of James 5:14-15, which refers to the healing power (both physical and spiritual) of the priests of the Church. Therefore, when James says "therefore" in verse 16, which should refer to the men he was writing about in verses 14 and 15 - these men are the ordained priests of the Church to whom we must confess our sins.
Acts 19:18 - many came to orally confess sins and divulge their sinful practices. Oral confession was the practice of the early Church as it is today.
Matt. 3:6, Mark 1:5 - again, this shows people confessing their sins before others as a historical practice (here to John the Baptist).
1 Tim. 6:12 - this verse also refers to the historical practice of confessing sins and faith in the presence of many witnesses.
1 John 1:9 - if they are to confess our sins, God is faithful to us and forgive us and cleanse us. But we must confess our sins to one another.
Num 5:7 - this shows the historical practice of publicly confessing sins, and making public restitution.
2 Sam. 12:14 - despite the fact that sin is forgiven, the punishment due for sin forgiven. David is forgiven but his child was still taken (the consequence of his sin).
Neh. 9:2-3 - the Israelites was before the assembly and confessed sins publicly and interceded for each other.
Lord. 4:26 - God tells us that he is not ashamed to confess our sins, and not to try to stem the flow of a river. Anyone who has experienced the sacrament of reconciliation understands the import of this verse.
Baruch 1:14 - again, this shows that the people made the confession in the house of the Lord, before the assembly.
1 John 5:16-17, Luke 12:47-48 - there is a distinction between mortal and venial sins. This has been the teaching of the Catholic Church for 2000 years, but today, most Protestants no longer agree that there is such a distinction. Mortal sins lead to death and must be absolved in the sacrament of reconciliation. Venial sins need not be confessed to a priest, but the pious Catholic practice is to do in order to move forward on our path to holiness.
Matt. 5:19 - Jesus teaches that breaking the least of commandments is venial sin (the person remains, but is saved in the kingdom), versus mortal sin (the person is not saved).

  21. Rango says:

If you sincerely confess your sins, you are forgiven.
The sacrament of reconciliation is to assist with this process and get the extra help and the grace of acceptance of their sins and working to prevent the same thin in the future.
God knows we are all sinners and we need help to avoid temptation.
I do not understand the part of Catholics "hate" Christians, you may only need to change congretations if you're getting bad feelings. No true Christian, Catholic or other hate anyone and can be Christian, is completely against the teachings of Jesus Christ.
I can promise that the church does not hate anyone, it is a very warm welcome to the community of faith and freindly I pray you can find a Catholic congretation warm and welcoming as the one to go.

  22. Muslim92 says:

Peace to you .. I will answer you in an Islamic perspective, referring to the translation of the Qur'an:
So I guess my real question is why we must go to confession anyway?
[9:31] We have set up their religious leaders and scholars as lords, instead of God. Others deified the Messiah, son of Mary. They ordered everyone to worship a single god. There is no god but Him be glorified, far above having any partners.
      ——————–
[3:67] Abraham was neither Jew nor Christian, was a monotheist submitter. He never was an idol worshiper.
[3:68] Those most worthy of Abraham are those who followed him and this Prophet and those who believe. God is the Lord and Master of the believers.
      ——————
So, basically, Islam is opposed to the concept of trinity that came only after Jesus' departure from God.
      This probably explains:
[5:109] The day will come when God will summon the messengers and ask them, "How was the response to you?" They will say: 'We do not know. You are the Knower of all secrets. "
[5:110] GOD will say, "Jesus son of Mary, remember My blessing upon you and your mother. I supported with the Holy Spirit, so you can talk to people from the cradle, as well as an adult. I taught you the Scripture and wisdom, the Torah and the Gospel. Recall that you created from clay the shape of a bird by My permission, then blew on it, and became a live bird by My leave. You healed the blind and the leper by My permission, and revived the dead by My permission. Remember that you protect me from the Children of Israel who wanted to hurt you, despite the profound miracles you had shown. The unbelievers among them said, 'This is obviously magic. "
[5:111] "Recall that I inspired the disciples:" You will believe in Me and My messenger. "They said:" We believed, and testify that we are submitters. "
      [5:112] Recall that the disciples said: "Jesus, son of Mary, your Lord, you can send a party of heaven?" He said, "You should reverence GOD, if ye are believers." ;
[5:113] They said: "We want to eat it, and reassure our hearts, and know with certainty that you told us the truth. We will serve as witnesses to this. "
[5:114] said Jesus the son of Mary, "our God, our Lord, send us a feast of heaven. Bring enough for each and every one of us, and a sign from you. Provide us You are the best provider. "
[5:115] God said, "I am sending below. Anyone who does not believe after that, I will punish him as I never hit anybody. "
[5:116] GOD will say, "Jesus, son of Mary, telling people,` Make me and my mother idols beside GOD? "He said," Be You glorified. He could not say what is wrong. If I would have said that have already been met. You know my thoughts, and I do not know his thinking. You know all the secrets.
[5:117] "I told them only what you sent me to say," You worship God, my Lord and your Lord. "I witnessed them during the time I lived with them. When my life on Earth, became the Watcher over them. Is witness to all things.
[5:118] "If you punish them, who are your constituents. If You forgive, You are the Almighty, Most Wise. "
[5:119] GOD will proclaim, "This is a day the truth will be saved by their truthfulness." Have deserved gardens with streams. To dwell for ever. God is pleased with them, and they are happy with it. This is the greatest triumph.
[5:120] To God belongs the sovereignty of the heavens and the earth and everything in them, and He is Omnipotent.

  23. Jeff M says:

For the word of God says. Hello, My name is Jeff, and I am a recovering Catholic. There are many points. Back in the early 70's, I asked lots of questions, which the priest did not like it, so at 17, I was "kicked" to the church school. My dad died just a few months ago, so I had to go back to the same church, even after 40 years still is not a Bible in one bank. I could see, literally, the demons in a circle on the ceiling, laughing.Jesus is still on the cross, the place still has to worship Mary in any way at all services, and there is no flat land that does not have a statue absorbing the space, and money. Read and study the Bible for themselves. God gave it to us all! This is his "human" owners manuel. Take it wherever you go life is a series of failing to stop the tests. Look at it this way, given their test called life, and thank God, is an open book test!. You have all the answers! But beware!
Hosea 4:6, My people perish for lack of knowledge.
Proverbs 1:7; The beginning of wisdom and knowledge is the fear of the Lord.
Proverbs 8:13 says clearly, the fear of the Lord is to hate evil! There's so much more. Back to the topic of confession. When Jesus expired on the cross, the veil in the temple was torn from top to the bottom, which means that we who believe, have full complete access to the Father through the Son, Jesus Christ. If you do not confess, yes, that ends in hell. You lead to hell. Read Galatans 5:16 until the end. I have to repent.

  24. thexfile says:

I think you need to go a rereading of the Bible. Catholicism is just a bunch of paganism anyway, Easter, Christmas and any other garbage that does not believe in. in the Bible where did the state to confess their sins to a priest and that he alone had power to forgive.
Go and read about the reformation and Martin Luther, the people praying at the sky and the sale of indulgences, etc., not that Martin Luther was better, was also an anti-Semite.
      Good luck.
If I were you ditch ID religion, go and read the Bible and then make a decision later in this manner is not a fine line between what we believe in.

  25. Misty says:

<<Like I totally believe confession is a bunch of garbage to frighten the hell out of YOU.I significa, why not go to the same Lord and confess.>>
Tell that to Jesus, he is the one that instituted the sacrament of confession, not the Church. http://www.scripturecatholic.com/confess
<<Also, I do not think it will go to hell if you do not confess. All of us would be in hell, then.>>
Who you mean by "us all" - I go to confession like many Catholics I know. In fact, there are always lines of faith in my parish.
But the Church does not teach to go to hell if you do not go to confession. It is not that black and white. http://www.vatican.va/archive/catechism/
<<(Also, I hate how Catholics (as I know) I think it is right to hate those non-Christian.)>>
Again, this is untrue. Catholics do not hate non-Christians. In fact all religious orders dedicated to prayer for the lost souls.
Go to confession because God gave us this sacrament for us sanctifying grace. To confess your sins you are confessing to God, and when it is released it is God who acquits him through his ordained. This is how Jesus started, and that is why we continue to do so. Jesus never said go directly to God for forgiveness, He gave His Apostles authority to forgive or retain sins … Why do this if it was not necessary? And to know that the Apostles to forgive sins and to retain, which should first listen. http://www.catholic.com/library/Confessi…http://www.orthodoxresearchinstitute.org
