San Pedro, the â? Healerâ miracle?

San Pedro (Trichocereus pachanoi), the sacred cactus and visionary teacher plant of South America, especially associated with healers and shamans (healers) of the Peruvian Andes. In 2008, during one of my visits to Peru to work with San Pedro, La Gringa, I talked about her life and experiences with Huachuma, the cactus of vision. Their responses show not only the potential cure of this plant, but also shed light on the traditions that surround it and its evolution in the modern world. So, when I opened my eyes and saw two children staring at me, they were so beautiful that I thought they were angels. I was impressed by them and it took me several minutes to realize that they were real and were crying and asking for help.

His name is Ruben. I met him ten years ago in a church in the Valley, quite by chance. I learned a lot from him from the beginning. Before the Spanish arrived in Peru, Andean believed Inti, the sun god, and Pachamama, the Earth, and its rituals are simpler and less needed symbols, appeasements to God, or how to keep evil streak. The idea of guilt and a need to appease God that came with the Catholics who were our ancestors who made them change their rituals, or be killed. Before that, they were more natural and fluid.

It is your decision to hold the ceremonies in the day instead of at night part of this â? Evolution backwards? too?

Ruben has its ceremonies in the evening and that is how they taught me, but as I grew in my understanding of San Pedro, ceremonies of the evening â? in spiritual practice, as well as reasons - became something else that does not really work for me.

I always seemed so cold and uncomfortable that I could never really relax enough to receive the healing of San Pedro. How to prepare your San Pedro?

Most shamans skin and cut the cactus then boil for four to eight hours. You can also add alcohol and sometimes other herbs or ingredients. There are other things to consider when preparing San Pedro. I just work with cacti that have seven or nine spines because the majority of beers produced soft and beautiful. Finally, despite all their reservations before, she asked if I could drink San Pedro. I gave him the amount, but is smaller than ideal for her, as if San Pedro is, and that was in my arms and cried her heart for five hours.

Thoughts like these have physical effects. I recently had a horse with a friend, for example, to visit the quality control? There is a diet that goes with San Pedro, like those of the ayahuasca. But San Pedro is easier. Can you tell us something about this?

All plants require some teacher ritual precautions before and during the ceremony. This is what we call the diet. It refers not only to restrictions on food and beverages, as the name might suggest, but other behaviors and thus the approach with a pure intention.
