So why Mary plays a role in the Holy Roman Catholic Church?

I was raised Catholic, the family is Catholic. I very much question about the Catholic Church. I consider myself a Christian / spiritual. My sister wants a nun is said, not Catholics pray to Mary, but … uh, yeah … There is the Rosary, prayer Ave Maria, Sacred (do not know how else to say that) your days to pray and honor …. So I do not understand it. Makes sense to me that everyone should go to the prayer of Jesus. My sister says that Mary is an intercessor (which is a word?). She takes the prayers to Jesus and serving as an intersession (which is right, "Too many big words).

  1. Robert says:

the answer is easy Catholics pray to Mary and ask her to pray for us. Like you can ask someone from church or a priest to pray for us. She carries our prayers to her Son Jesus. This does not mean we can not pray to God to ourselves, through Jesus. Jesus said that when two pray together I am there. Who better to pray with you that the Mother of Jesus.

  2. thewolfs says:

Early Gnostic Christianity that teaches that Mary was without sin, therefore, worthy of having a child of God without sin. When the Catholic Church was the abolition of other forms of Christianity also had to adopt some of their beliefs in order to appease the losers. This is why modern Christianity is a mish-mash of many different Pagan (types of) Christian beliefs.

  3. Jeff M says:

John 2:1-5 (emphasis on 5) The verse that a lady by the name of Ester (imagine that), a few years ago, has made almost all Catholics in Southeast Asia to the born-again Christians with healings, miracles, and the rise of the dead. Insults the Lord that we are going to be the body of Christ, there will be no cutting Catholic blvd Baptist, Lutheran or rail. The other is the verse of John 14:6 importance. It says nothing anywhere in the Bible to go ask my mom.

  4. Dunc says:

So the Catholics are of great importance to Mary because she gave birth to God, only begotten Son, Jesus Christ. She was a virgin who was conceived, but by the Spirit of God, the Savior of the world. Catholics practice the Hail Mary is a prayer to Mary to ask her to ask Jesus to forgive us our sins. If it works or not I personally disagree with either, but siince God and Christ have the power and authority to forgive sins.

Cahtolic the Church is very amuseing. They like to interpret the Bible for them selfs and discourge members to read it.
I believe because the Bible says that the only way women can drain freely from the sin of fornication is through child birth, but Mary was a virigin THO. Therefore, it is free from sin and a merical?

  6. Shinigami (FAC) weeaboo says:

None of us is insignificant, especially her.
It is said that Christ has gone ahead to prepare a place for us.
It is said, (Rev 12:1) "And a great portent appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun and the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars."

  7. Honest Abe says:

Good question. My answer is the Catholic religion is WRONG!
      What the bible says ….
1 Timothy 2:5, For there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.
It says nothing about Mary and praying with her.
Bible Study King James Version and get all your answers and pray God will lead you to the true church.
Even the names of the Bible the true church.
      You're thinking!

  8. Saint Lilith says:

Well for one thing she did give birth to Jesus. She must have been special to elect their god for that task. She is not honest it is worshiped.
Catholics do not worship Mary ask Mary to pray for them.

  9. pittypas says:

She is the mother of Jesus, who God is … for she is the mother of God. Your sister is right about her being an intermediary between.

  10. __A_YAHO says:

I hear that Mary is one of the ways in which pagans converted to Christianity. It was a way of replacing goddess worship.

  11. andrea says:

She plays a very important role in the Catholic Church, because it was chosen by God to give birth to her only son.

  12. Glacierkid Returns says:

Yes, she was chosen by God. that's all. apparently this is really a big deal ….

  13. sparki77 says:

Mary became the New Ark of the Covenant when she was pregnant with Jesus. Should study the Jewish religion and the Old Testament to the importance of that, but it is great. God became incarnate only once * and * Mary is the person who chose to use their status to help people.
Address of the Catholics in the prayer of Mary, but not deify her - we do not believe it is some kind of Godden which is equal to God.
It's like this. If I say, "I love my husband … I love my children … I love …. Jesus I love reading … I love chocolate … "totally get that I am using the same word (love) in different ways. I do not love my husband the same way you love Jesus. I do not like chocolate in the same way that love my children.
Well, the Catholic faith, not of honor of Mary in the same way as the worship of Jesus, and not pray to her in the same way we pray to him. We ask Mary to pray with us and for us. We ask Jesus to heal us, forgive us, do a miracle for us, us, whatever. See the difference?

  14. Daver says:

Mary is our Mother and Queen of Spain David New
John 19:26 - Jesus Mary, Mother of us all as He dies on the Cross saying, "Behold your mother." Jesus did not say "John, behold your mother" and that Mary gave all us, his beloved disciples. All the words that Jesus spoke on the Cross had a divine purpose. Jesus is not just telling John to care for her mother.
Rev. 12:17 - this verse shows the meaning of John 19:26. The "woman" (Mary) are the children who follow Jesus. She is our Mother and we are their progeny in Jesus Christ. The master plan of God's covenant love for us is the family. But we can not be a complete family with the fatherhood of God and the Brotherhood of Christ Motherhood of Mary.
John 2:3 - that is a very significant verse from Scripture. As our mother, Mary tells us all to do what Jesus says. In addition, the intercession of Mary at the wedding of Cana triggers the ministry of Jesus and a foreshadowing of the Eucharistic celebration of the Lamb. This celebration unites all believers in a famiy through marriage of divinity and humanity.
John 2:7 - Jesus allows his mother to intercede for the people in his name, and responds to the request of his mother's service order to fill the jars with water.
Psalm 45:9 - the psalmist teaches that the Queen is on the right hand of God. The role of the Queen is important in the kingdom of God. Mary, Queen of Heaven is on the right hand of the Son of God.
1 Kings 2:17, 20 - David in the Old Testament kingdom, the king does not refuse to his mother. Jesus is the new King David, and he does not reject the requests of his mother Mary, the Queen.
1 Kings 2:18 - David in the Old Testament kingdom, Queen intercedes on behalf of supporters of the King. She is the queen mother (or "Gebirah). Mary is our eternal Gebirah.
1 Kings 2:19 - in the Old Testament King David reign arches her mother and she sits on his right hand. We, as children of the New Covenant, we should imitate the King and pay tribute to Mary our Mother. In honor of Mary, we honor our King, Jesus Christ.
1 Kings 15:13 - The Queen Mother is a position of real power in the monarchy of Israel. Here the queen is removed. But now, the kingdom of David is perfected by Jesus and Mary is our Mother forever in his right hand.
2 Chron. 22:10 - here the Queen Mother Athalia destroys the royal family of Judah after she sees her son, King Ahaziah killed. Queen mother played an important role in the kingdom.
Neh. 2:6 - the Queen Mother sits beside the King. She is the principal intercessor before the King.

I can not really understand myself, because the fact is that there is absolutely no indication of biblical Mary play any role other than that of bringing Christ to the world.
I grew up in a Catholic home, attended Catholic schools, and most of my family is still Catholic, but I do not, and the cult of Mary is just one of many things that I can not agree, simply because no is in the book, there is absolutely no indication that the prayer of Jesus to Mary? Until someone made, I think it was the Catholic Church. If you are using the Bible (which in fact meant to be) I always ask, "well can you show me that in Scripture?" So far nobody has taken me to the offer.
I believe that Catholicism encourages individuals to be "spoon fed" information, no questions asked.
      Is that really okay?
There are all these mysteries of the faith? / What is that? The Bible is a gift to us, a guide book, why did God make it a mystery?
Is simply not a reason …… I do not think God promotes ignorance, they want to know and understand his word.
Sorry girl Whewwww I have a roll there, LOL
      Peace.

  16. MissMoxi says:

Your sister is right, Catholics do not pray to Mary. Just ask Mary to pray for us so that you can ask a friend or family member to pray for you.
Mary is so important because God chose. Of all the women of the world God chose Mary to her son, our savior, Jesus Christ. God was so important, so special, as elected, and thus honor (not to pray or praise) to them.
Rosario in one of the lines is, "… pray for us sinners. " We ask Mary pray for us.
Moreover, this is why the Immaculate Conception was when Anne gave birth to Mary. She was born without original sin, was special from the beginning, chosen by God.
EDIT - In response to the person who says that Catholics Discourage other Catholics to read the word of God, the Bible, are incorrect. It is true that Catholics are not encouraged to read the Bible but is an important reason. Catholics believe that the average person might have trouble enough interpretations of the Bible, as many many many people in this world to misunderstand the Bible. There are people who have dedicated their entire life and career to studying and understanding the Bible. Catholics view the Bible as a metaphor, not to be translated literally. The fear is that the Bible be taken literally and / or badly interpreted.
SECOND EDITION - Ultimately, I do not think it matters what name to follow. My personal opinion is that whenever you have a relationship with God and Jesus then that is all that matters. It is between you and the Lord. I believe that the various denominations of Christianity exist because different people need different things. Even if you belong to a demonimation does not mean you believe every detail of every part of that denomination. Just follow your heart and have faith. I think it's wonderful that you are thirsty for knowledge and understanding! :)
      God Bless! :)

She is a goddess of compassion that the figure of the uneducated masses that do not fall into the head of the travel of the Jesuits or the service until they drop messages from the Franciscans or have to do it this way to the Dominican gravitated. Buddhists have Qwan yin feminine incarnation of Buddha. You must have women, we all come from women so if she is absent, the real people feel that something is false
      the patriarchal system of things.
pure compassion compassion … no guilt trips … bla-bla, not theology. Only a mother who whips of her breasts in the last scene of grapes of wrath and fed the hungry, the comforts of home and look in the eyes of the dying. It's good to know that there always is on our side.

  18. roxanne says:

Basically it is that Catholics have it in high esteem bcoz mary gave birth to Jesus. Absolutely nothing wrong with the thought of Mary as an important person, but as a born-again Christian I do find it strange how sometimes they do pray and worship are all the statues change etc etc etc …… …. . (Yes, I went to Catholic school and went to Mass every Friday)
Says that in the Bible that Jesus is our only mediator btwn us and God. We do not need a mediator to Jesus, we can go directly to it, that is why in the death of Jesus shed the robes of the Temple from top to bottom to indicate that you can now walk into the Holy of Holies without sending someone on our behalf bcoz of the children sent Isralites a High Priest in the Holy of Holies to offer sacrifices for the atonement of our sins. Jesus made the sacrifice, the suit was torn and it was open to us all.
Mary is our intercessor, the Holy Spirit, He prays in moaning and groaning on our behalf. Keep your eyes and focus on Jesus. I'm glad Mary, she was favored among all women to bear the Son of God, so if it takes place in high esteem, but not worship, pray to your bid or any sacrifice for her. All my praise and worship, sacrifice and my prayers go to Jesus, who alone can wash my sins and I am the sky.
      Stay blessed.

  19. Tsunami says:

Mary is the mother of Jesus. She is the only one that was taken and committed heart and soul into heaven. gave her. He loves his mom. No, not "pray to Mary to ask for your help and, therefore, is why you say your prayers to help not pray for it. shes a tool to be between God and Jesus. Means between an intercessor for you go for, and are more apt to do so. that is how you handle the saints as well. questions and help them to go to Jesus to help you get what you want as your going to ask your mom or dad would say that this causes you to not only her mother had more to say yet. Your sister is right. the rosary is a prayer that Mary used to be brought to their aid against a lot of things in this world that need to be gone and she can try to help. I have seen the power of prayer for myself. my husband was about to die and that was OK was taken back in the room to help me and then went home with the Lord in you see that makes things so carefully but he help me first . take care.
