The Catholic Pope Who was presented the idea of Purgatory Mindful Jewish Theology?
Gehinom (Gehenna), according to rabbinic literature, is a place or state in which the wicked are temporarily punished after death. "Gehenna" is sometimes translated as "hell", but the Christian view of hell is different from the view of the Jews from Hell. Most sinners are said to suffer in hell no more than twelve months. Those who are too poor to reach the paradise are sometimes said to be punished forever. Other accounts reject the idea that a merciful God to punish anyone for ever, in which case also the wicked are destroyed for purification.
I am not asking what the Bible teaches about purgatory, or if you believe in purgatory or not.
I am wondering whether the concept of purgatory may have arisen since then the knowledge of Judaism Pope of Hell. Which is clearly the ideology that hell is not really permanent, temporary and there is a place for people who need to be purified. For this reason, the surviving family members are asked to pray for 11 months.
- Pope Purgatory and ?????
- Is there a biblical basis for the idea that 100% of "bad" people go to Purgatory Only?
- Is it true that Catholics created the idea of Purgatory?
- If the Pope is "the power of the keys," Why did the Pope not only the whole world out of Purgatory?
- Why is the Eastern Orthodox idea of "hell" differ from the Catholic-Protestant Teachigns the hell?

Much of Catholic theology is based on the Jewish theology. Jesus Christ, our founder and director, began his life as a Jew. Most of the early Christians began their lives as Jews, Christians and Jews played a dominant role in the Church, including the pagan Romans and Greeks, who had also converted.
I do not know that Catholic teachings were original idea by any pope, any developed slowly over many years, the result of a work and study of Catholic scholars and theologians in Rome, in Jerusalem, in Greece. Throughout many centuries, his work was based mainly in the Scripture and the earth in the Jewish tradition before.
In the Middle Ages, Europe rediscovered Aristotle and Plato and the classical Greeks represented some of the earliest and also the first "new" streams that affect the Catholic thought, which had hitherto been mainly Jews.
To pray for the dead is against the Bible and the disciples were the first writers of the Catholic Church do there own ideas.
The practice of the Jewish prayer for the dead is one of the sources of the doctrine of purgatory. One place this figure is 2 Maccabees 12:40-46:
But under the tunic of each of the dead they found amulets sacred to the idols of Jamnia, the law forbids Jews to wear. Therefore, it was clear to everyone that this is why these men had been killed. They therefore commended the ways of the Lord, the only judge who brings to light things that are hidden. As for prayer, prayed that the sinful deed might be fully erased. The noble Judas warned the soldiers to remain free of sin, that they had seen with their own eyes what had happened because of the sin of those who had fallen. He then took a collection of all his soldiers, amounting to two thousand drachmas of silver, he sent to Jerusalem to offer an atoning sacrifice. Thus acted in a very excellent and noble way, inasmuch as he had the resurrection of the dead in sight, because if they are not expected the fallen to rise again, it would have been futile and absurd to pray for them in the death. But if he did this with a view to the splendid reward that awaits those who had come to rest in godliness, it was a holy and pious thought. So I made atonement for the dead who could be freed from this sin. http://www.nccbuscc.org/nab/bible/2macca …
Here are a couple of other places in purgatory are hinted in the Bible:
"But if someone's work is burned up, it will suffer a loss, the person is saved, but only through fire." 1 Cor 3:15
"Thus the authenticity of their faith, more precious than gold which is perishable evidence, though by fire, may be praise, glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ." 1 Peter 1:7
However, the souls of the righteous are in God's hands, and no torment touches. Which appeared in the view of the foolish, to be dead, and his death was considered a disease and its course ahead of us, total destruction. But they are at peace. For if before men, indeed, be punished, but the hope is full of immortality; punished a little, it will be very blessed, because God tried and found worthy of himself. Like gold in the furnace, the result, and as sacrificial offerings to them to himself. Wisdom 3:1-6
Is it perfect now? Most people would say no.
Will it be perfect in heaven? Most people believe so.
Purgatory (or purgation) is the process of God's love changing our imperfect in the same land in the perfect in heaven. Depending on the amount of change required by different people, this may be a little easier or process. Everyone in purgatory is on its way to heaven. I do not think Mother Teresa of Calcutta had a very hard time of it.

+ With love in Christ.
but, possibly, so that the Bible clearly says that we must be clensed of our sins before entering Relmó Christ
i was raised in that religion and used to believe that the Pope was "god on earth." when I gave my life to Christ, the religion that i left of every lie that I had taught. I went to Catholic school. had catachism, 1 holy communion confirned was an alter boy. went to Mass every Sunday, said my confession every Saturday, carrying a cross, rosary, scapular and around my neck. I had my idols on the wall, even had my own little altar with holy water! when I read my Bible, I found that was not alll Bible and threw it out! Purgatory does not exist, another lie! His good friend heaven or hell, you decide where to go
Listen. Everything I read in the Bible points to the Jewish people are God's chosen people, apparently, no one would accept the law, but the Jewish people that makes them saints, I'd assume. As I read when it comes to messianic prophecies of peace on earth, each leader of each nation in turn to a Jew of advice, every Jew will have expierence happiness, Jesus has not fulfilled these. Judaism has more in depth so that any other religion I have seen. So after all my rambeling, this is my answer. If the Jewish people say 12 months is 12 months. Religion does not force anyone to join the end of each religion is a peaceful religion, not history that has forced its power in other nations, but it's the opposite. Yes, you get the point. I ask a rabbi questions about his idea of "hell". I really hope this helps. Otherwise, I had thrown useless words and I feel that if it was.
Obviously not …… There is no truth to the idea …….
Purgatory is reduced to be insufficient blood for our sins Christ …….. ummmm, nothing ……..
Purgatory is not the idea of potatoes. Nor is it a confession or communion of saints. It is biblical, if the bible says the word or concept is not in the Bible.
Get real, people are still thinking mideval mind of the pope only does things to believe? ridiculous.
So are the views of Catholics in things. Regardless of what the Jewish theology does not agree with that belief.
It is sad to say, because I truly believe that most if not all souls are forgiven.
It seems that Catholicism and Christianity rather put fear into the hearts of his followers rather than the idea that their souls will be forgiven if he asks for it YHWH.
I believe that to be a much more loving.
then you will suffer and be alone for eternity, or will burn in hell for all eternity.
stars for you! * Smiles *
