They are concerned that Catholics are 2 potatoes To Go?
As a Christian I believe that the prophecies of St. Malachy can have special significance for Catholics.
Assuming no direct hint of an impending apocalypse then …. Catholics are a concern and licks of the papacy or a schism that can totally change the face of the Catholic faith?
Surely somethings up, I am not a Catholic, but just curious about what Catholics believe about the prophecy. Piticularly if Catholicism without a glimpse of Pope in the next 25 years or so I'm anxious to hear your take on this …
thoughts
- In the Catholic faith, can Man Become Nuns? Women can Become Priests or potatoes?
- When Some People Stop Accusing them do things that Catholics do not?
- Catholics, Vatican II Has Say This reality (as a Catholic I am concerned)?
- Holy Communion and potatoes / Vatican II?
- As a Catholic, the Vatican is more concerned about their welfare or yours?

Many scholars now called Prophecies St.Malachy to have been false, there is nothing else mentioned by the Saint on these writings in any other, for what appear to be without authenticity.
Olivæ Gloria (glory of olives)
The Benedictine order traditionally said the Pope from his order, as a branch of the Benedictine order is called Olivetans. San Benito, says that he prophesied that before the end of the world, a member of his order would be the Pope and the Church Triumphant of lead in their fight against evil. While the Pope chose the name "Benedict", this does not seem sufficient to fulfill the prophecy. Nor is it clear how Benedict XVI (Bavaria) is "the Glory of Olives." Since it is said to have observed in the Conclave after saying he would take the name Benedict was partly to honor Benedict XV, a pope of peace and reconciliation, perhaps Benedict XVI will be a peacemaker in the Church or the world, and therefore carry the olive branch.
God bless.
EDIT: Sorry for not making it clearer in my reply, I was not referring to St.Malachy like that forged the prophecies, but that someone may have written these and used the good name of the Saints credit them.
God bless.
In fact, according to prophecy, there is only one more pope (Peter the Roman), after this. Then comes the formidable judge. "
What is interesting is that there are several ways that this prophecy might actually become reality. I guess there is something of great war between Christians and Muslims. That is not inconceivable that the current state of affairs. Religion can not be the cause of the war, but you can bet that it would become a rallying cry. Then hopefully after a while people just realize how useless it is and stop believing in the Bronze Age mythology.
But you're right .. if it becomes reality, will not be the "end times" or the end of the world, will be the end of the church.
It is not considered that St. Malachy was a forger, but the prophecies that have been forged in his name.
"The prevailing view today is that counterfeits are produced, probably perpretrated by a school of Jesuits in 1600. This is based on the clear relationship of the slogans of the various popes until that period, and the need for oblique references (such as the motto of the Pope's home diocese) to fit the theme of the Pope. The inclusion of anti-popes also appears that contrary to the authenticity of the prophecies. " http://www.catholic-pages.com/ grabbag / ma …
I do not think many Catholics to put much store in this legend.
Furthermore, it is inconsequential. A person must live their life as if today was the last day he or she is in this world. "End Times" hysteria is more common among Protestants and Catholics that this "prophecy" is more attractive to those who think.
Not as a Catholic I am not concerned as I am not worried because Rapture "Always LOL, that Catholics tend to focus on more important issues and spirituality then Theologically Prophecies of the End Times. is more an obsession, particularly Protestant fundamentalist Protestants!.
there will always be a dad. it's up to God as to how many potatoes are left. if they put in their hands, there is no need to worry about me.
There will always be a Pope, so no I am not concerned
Let's say that the prophecies of St. Malachy are particularly important for some terribly important, not others, and many Catholics do not even know about them.
I find very interesting in an academic sort of way. But I'm not biting my nails in a state of panic that the thread is [perhaps] finished. " Why should any Christian fear the end of the age? Weather extremes of each of us in our death, and we do not know when that will happen. I was going to despair, when Benedict XVI was elected, perhaps on the grounds that it in years? "No, no, it is next to last, which should have chosen a younger man!" And in choosing the next pope, if God gives me more than today, and I still live to see it? Time to panic then? "Whoa, I have not made a fortune, however, time is running out!"
Sorry, but there are things that require our urgent attention. Or should be.
Indeed, if the predictions turn out to be a forgery Malachi (and we have now and do not require document authentication methods, thanks to modern science), does not tarnish his canonization - merely indicates that something was attributed to him in error. As there was canonized on the basis of predictions, which in fact remain St. Malachy.
Edit: Sldgman above is the starting point. In general, Catholics are not often final hysteria.
Edit again: Well, I understand your intent now. Malachi's prophecy is most often to be apocalyptic (or, "only two popes to be done before the end of the world, folks!"), So that is why the answers here lean in that direction.
The longest period of the Church has been without a Pope, three years (1268-71), actually resulted in the establishment of the conclave (literally, the bishops in the lock until dispensed with endless debates and brought the company to choose a new pope). Gregory X was elected.
It is very unlikely that the Church would be too long without a Pope. If the world keeps turning, with no signs of the imminent end of the age on us when the successor Benedict dies, then the pope will be another - or not Malachi Malachi. So I can not even imagine something that has little or no chance of that happening. I suppose that's possible. But at my age I'm not likely to see it, anyway.
