What is the Catholic Church's position Seal Re Confesionario For Pedophiles / pedophile priests?

I just saw a doco (about 10 years old), where he was a bishop-priest fart right to defend religion in secret because it is necessary to confess to avoid the hell-no pedophiles should go to hell or worse than lack of mass pedophilia! Does the church and the law in the U.S. and Australia continue to protect pedophile confession? Are there any western democracy ignore the church's wall of silence?

The position of the church is that the seal is complete. The priest must not disclose information obtained in confession, without permission of the person who confessed. The law is different. However, as a rule, a priest will put their votes on the law and go to jail before breaking the seal. I've seen a couple of times.

and why is it always the Catholics? its obviously a very big problem. They had a former talk show host in San Francisco who was a former Catholic priest by the way is not to serve 7 ½ years in state prison for distributing kiddy porn. something to eat or drink in the Catholic churches that causes this?

  3. Sweethar says:

The priests are bound by the code of silence, no matter what is said during a confession.

  4. Norman03 says:

There are a few things to understand here. The silence of the confession must be inviolable. The priest who hears confessions is not done under his own authority. Who hears the confession "in persona Christi", in the person of Christ. Representing the presence of Christ there when someone confesses his sin. Can a lawyer of the person (and usually does) on the way out of sin, which may recommend counseling, but can not talk about that confession to anyone once the confession is complete … even a person confesses his sin. When and whether to grant an acquittal, not his power but by the name of our Lord. If this silence is violated, it would destroy the sacrament.
"Pedophiles should not go to hell …?" That brings in the concept of repentance and forgiveness. Pedophilia is a grave sin. It must be confessed, but also must be addressed. The Church was slow to address this and is having to deal with that. I understand, however, that the whole basis of Christianity is that God forgives us all sin, whether we are willing to do a true conversion and faith in obedience to her Son and our Lord. Our Lord does not want a soul to go to hell.
Finally, one of the other posters to understand that this is primarily a Catholic problem. Convicted sexual predators are monitored very closely. A simple Google search of Web sites becomes where to find very specific information on these individuals. Unfortunately, this offense is not limited to a few Catholic priests, but when a Catholic priest committed any grave sin, makes headlines.
We absolutely must protect our children. But we must also be open to God for forgiveness.
