Our young people are strongly influenced by the modern "me first" popular culture, and rarely even in a life of service to others. We have doubled the number of Catholic priests in the U.S. in the last 40 years. Here are the statistics from the U.S. and Catholic priests: 1965: 45.6 M Catholics / 58,632 = 778 Catholic priests / priest 1975: 48.7 M Catholics / 58,909 = 827 Catholic priests / priest 1985: 52.3 M Catholics / 57,317 = 912 Catholic priests / priest 1995: 57.4 M Catholics / 49,054 = 1170 Catholic priests / priest 2005: 64.8 M Catholics / 42,839 = 1513 Catholic priests / priest And around the world: 1975: 709.6 M Catholics / 1557 = 404,783 Catholic priests / priest 1985: 852.0 M Catholics / 2112 = 403,480 Catholic priests / priest 1995: 989.4 M Catholics / 2444 = 404,750 Catholic priests / priest 2005: 1115.0 M Catholics / 2744 = 406,411 Catholic priests / priest U.S. proportion of Catholics per priest is that the world was in 1975. And the population of priests around the world is now growing, although still not as fast as the population of Catholics throughout the world. The Holy Spirit will continue to guide the Church through this challenge as he (or she) has done for almost 2000 years.http: / / cara.georgetown.edu / newsletter / With love in Christ.

<<What's wrong with the Catholic Church. Why can not recruit priests and nuns?>> Men and women are being called to the priesthood and brotherhood. While there is as many people as in the past, people are still answering the call to suggest that - although there are fewer people today - there is no "shortage." <<In Thailand, country living in, each year, thousands of young people opting for a life of celibacy and prayer in the Buddhist faith.>> Buddhism is the predominant religion of this religion? It makes sense that most people follow their Buddhist roots. <<Is Because many Catholic priests and nuns of normal wear clothing days, and no clear presence of faith?>> No obvious presence of the faith? Fabrics ins't what makes a priest a priest, a nun or a nun. About 1000 years ago, when every time someone was baptized, the Church would give him a white tunic all to use in the world for a solid week. In this way, the whole world that he / she went, people can instantly recognize it for new Christians who she is. After that first week, however, leaving clothing. Now it's up to him / her to make evident the presence of faith in her Christian lifestyle. <<What I mean clothes is, people do not see the presence of a church that uses the to.>> Maybe there is more to the presence of the Church knows that the simple cloth. "In Thailand, monks used saffron colored robes that can clearly be seen everywhere you go. I remember when you could see the priests and nuns, and you knew they were there. But now the presence is gone.>> Is not "past." Are you sure you're just not looking in the right place? Just a theory.

Do not know what to say, the nuns are more casual, but all the priests know how to use the collar at all times, even at football games. We are in Kansas and have been blessed with an abundance of priests, and 47 are currently at the Seminar. I think it has less to do with what you wear and more to do with the family and parish life. Peace and God bless.

Many people who enter the life-time do so because they are abandoned, physically or spiritually. Giving his life to his religion recommends both of these situations well. Worn clothing has nothing to do with commitment, it is traditional, as the traditions and what you can change clothes. Fewer go into religious work in the Christian world, because there are many ways to serve your community, you do not have to be a nun to make an impact in their community and humanity.

There are young people into the Catholic vocations, but the reason I think there are so few like you said, not behind the reverence for, if we look at the more traditional seminaries and convents that note they are full, is that modern computers are failing. I think that may be right. Pray the Rosary and receive the sacraments

It is because secularism has infiltrated the Church. Traditional parishes that are in line with Rome, we see many young men and women choose religious life. In the parishes to embrace liberalism and secularism, we see very few.

Probably because they have to live life as normal. In the old days, the church is used for all the peoples social life and support system. It is not that way anymore.

The problem that you write is a U.S. problem. The rest of the world enjoys a great increase in vocations. U.S. currently has a lot of problems, since most can easily see. God help us.

Sad huh? Unfortunately, some orders of priests and nuns, have lost their rigidity. Best we can do is pray for them.
