Usually my sins relate to sin against God, and therefore the prison is usually in the form of prayer or reading scripture.
When you sin against another human being, usually a priest will also tell you what is necessary to rectify the situation (for example, return what they stole, confess to the police about the murders, etc.).

Lot of Catholic questions today, huh? Well I think it would be impossible for me to say what a general penance is assigned to a person, because at least in my experience I have not asked or discussed this with other people. Anyway, what his punishment should reflect the seriousness of the sins confessed, whether mortal or venial.

Usually, saying prayers. Sometimes something more specific in addressing a particular sin may be determined.
My mother confessed that she realized from participation in gossip about the other kind. His father told him to write these things, says about the other end of each day, and then pray for these people.

Say some prayers (such as Ave Maria 5, 10 of our parents), etc.
-Read the Bible (chapter, verse assigned)
-A lot of rosaries (if you were bad)
-Tell you turn on your account (if anyone was killed, etc)
Hard to say because they have not done too badly, and I do not want to find out.

I've never killed anyone, but my faith told me to say a prayer or a few. From my observation that seems to be common.
