Why are so many Catholic priests who are gay?

Statistics show over 50% of men who become priests of the Roman Catholic Church are gay. And almost all of them are sexually active.
Well, I think they do to hide their sexuality in some way. But as you can see, almost all of them are not able to do so.
  What do you think?

I agree with you. They do so either to hide their sexuality or to try to suppress it.
Nothing remains hidden forever. That's why we strongly recommend that everyone open and honest about who they are. It is much easier to be who you are proud to be a closet Outeda shame.

    I would question the statistics.
If there is indeed a higher proportion than in the rest of the population, I propose two possibilities that I can think of.
1.) Maybe gay Christians who are to be sin if they are nothing but a life of celibacy, however decide to become priests in order to avoid the awkward question of stigma and bachelorism (I do not know if this is a word) often endured in Christian circles, and perhaps the hope that the training will "cure" them.
2.) Maybe not all priests involved in sexual activity with other men are gay in that fall in love with men. Could it be sexual frustration that was expressed in how the sailors, soldiers and other times. This kind of thing is different from the actual homosexuality when two men fall in love with either sex is an expression of it. Homosexuality is biological, but this would be more psychological. If you did play a role then raise the perception of statistics.

If those statistics are true, then I agree. They were raised to think that being gay is wrong, but have no interest in the search for a wife and family. I believe that what stops many people from becoming a priest or a nun is because they want to marry, and this does not stand in his way.
Just because they are gay does not mean they think its wrong. Human beings have dirty thoughts and want to have sex all the time, but the church teaches us not to do so and many are trying to achieve.

I highly doubt its source (how you did not leave the U.S. with one). However, humoring your question, I would say that the desire to conform to the strict sexual ethics of the Catholic Church Gay certain units devout Catholic priesthood. This is an "easy" solution: Nobody pressured to marry or have children because, after all that is now a man of the cloth.
      *****
Incidentally, something leads me to believe you're confusing the children as cases of abuse by gay men. The majority of priests who have raped children * * heterosexual men. Pedophilia and sexual orientation are two separate and distinct.

Damn I knew I was right all priests are gay!

  6. right2th says:

First, God never said they did not have to have sex
in fact this is exactly Wat told us to do multiplication ………
the thing is catholiocism has adopted many pagan practices included ……… pagan Wat means other than the Bible says
to Wat the hell do they expect the church preists going crazy! and gay!
this is just the straight truth uncorruptd:) that chew!

  7. gramopho says:

I hope you are not pedophiles pooling of statistics!

  8. stoic86 says:

    Where are your statistics from?
50% figure seems a terribly exaggerated.
The reason that people think it's such a high number is that each case is a sensationalist title to the present one with an incredibly uneven percetion percentage.
However, it is very possible that there is a slightly higher percentage of Catholic priests who are gay that the average population. And with respect to this (the core of your question) that was attributed to a lack of sex life.
I do not classify them as gay, but simply as "in need of some radical sexuality. Sexuality is a widespread human trait, and when it is repressed through celebacy may have the tendency to leave too innapropriate ways. Becomes directed at children and youth, because that is what they are most often contacted.
      Cheers.

I do not know how many are gay or why, but I noticed that most are effeminate.

  10. trav says:

not sure why, did not even know that much of the 50%: S
I guess that because it could handle an openly gay lifestyle

  11. Danny H C.A.B. says:

Could you please indicate the source of your statistics?

  12. (angry) Gay Guy says:

And where are your statistics? That's not true at all. I think that about 5 to 10% of Catholic priests are homosexual, but no sources.

  13. uva guy says:

The Catholic Church does not say that homosexuality is a sin, homosexual sex only. Appeals to homosexuals living a celibate life. The priests should be celibate. Ergo, the best way for a homosexual male to be a faithful Catholic and to live a celibate life was to become a priest. That could serve the church and live as the church requires.
Unfortunately, pedophiles and the idea had also infiltrated the ranks to such an extent that the priesthood has become a hotbed.
