Your question seems to be based on a misinterpretation of what is purgatory. Purgatory is not a place where one could go instead of heaven or hell. Purgatory is a place of cleansing in preparing a person for the sky. This is a stop on the "path" to heaven. If it dies and is in purgatory, rejoice, for you are on your way to heaven, no doubt.
Therefore, someone outside the prayer is not praying for someone purgatory hell. Is speeding along the cleaning process. Yet it is Christ who has made it possible to reach the sky first, however.
