Why do Catholics believe these things?

~ Question "Why is the Catholic doctrine states that the Pope was infallible"
God says: "It is better to trust the Lord to put confidence in man"
  Psalm 118:8
"As it is written, there is no righteous, NO NOT ONE"
  Romans 3:10
  ————————————–…
~ Question "Why is the Catholic teaching say that Peter was the first Pope"
God says: "And when Jesus was come into Peter's house, he saw his wife MOTHER established, and those suffering from fever."
  Matthew 8:14
The Bible is very clear here. It is easily said that Peter had a wife who had a mother who was ill. Note the next verse … Matthew 8:15 "And he played his hand and the fever left her: and she arose, and ministered to them." Jesus not only met Pedro mother in law, He healed her, to cook for him.
God says: "And he arose from the synagogue, and entered the house of Simon *. SIMON AND WOMEN'S mother was taken with a high fever, and besought him for her. "
  Luke 4:38
  * Please note that Simon and Peter are the same person. Matthew 4:18 says … "And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter and Andrew his brother …" Jesus was actually giving the name of Simon Peter. In Matthew 16:18 Jesus said … "And I say to thee, that thou art Peter and on this rock I will build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." Simon-Peter was an apostle of our Lord, and a married man.

Question ~ "If a Pope Peter, how is he married? Catholic doctrine does not prohibit the marriage? "
  God says that "A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behavior, given to hospitality, apt to teach;
  1Timothy 3:2
According to Strong's Concordance, a bishop is defined as a supervisor or PASTOR (Strong # 1984) Could the Pope be not a Supervisor or the Pastor of the Catholic Church? So why Catholic doctrine forbids marriage when the Bible states that marriage is good, if not preferred.

~ Question "Why Catholic doctrine to require a repetition of certain sentences, saying the rosary"
God says: "But you, when you pray, use not vain repetitions as the heathen do: for they think that will be heard much of his"
  Matthew 6:7
I use to pray the rosary throughout every day. That's 45 minutes of repeating the same phrase over and over again while the meditation on the Lord and His Five Joyful Mysteries … Five Mysteries painful … and the five Glorious Mysteries. This is, in fact, unnecessary duplication of effort, no doubt.

~ Question "Why Catholic doctrine stating that Jesus had no brothers and sisters, and that Mary was a virgin until her death"
God says "Is not this the carpenter's son? Not his mother called Mary? And his brothers, James and Mr Joses, and Simon and Judas? And his sisters, are not all with us? Whence has this man after all these things? "
  Matthew 13:55-56
This verse confirms the people in town who saw Jesus Jesus grow up a girl helping her father in his trade as a carpenter, to do great miracles right before your eyes. Remember that Jesus lived there as well as the fact that He had four brothers. PLUS Jesus still have sisters who live among them. How many sisters did Jesus? The Bible does not say. Why stay there? Are not married and settled in his hometown to raise a family? There is no difference. The fact is that the Bible accurately recorded that Mary had many children.
God says: "While he yet talked to the people, behold, his mother and brothers were without, desiring to speak with him. Then one said, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren are outside, wanting to talk to you. But he answered and said that he said: Who is my mother? and who are my brothers? and stretched his hand towards his disciples and said, Behold my mother and my brothers!
  Matthew 12:46-50
Many teachers of Catholic doctrine believe that Jesus called only those who believed in him his brothers. Have you noticed the statement of Jesus before He called everyone in the room of his brothers. A person comes to Jesus to tell his mother and brothers are awaiting him in the face. Jesus took this opportunity to enlighten the believers (disciples) and the apostles in the room considered to be brothers now because they believe in him. In fact Jesus says in Matthew 19:29 "And anyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother, or wife or children or lands, for my name, will receive a cent, and will inherit eternal life. "This verse is for believers who have to deal with unbelievers around them. Does this verse does not show Jesus calling people who are not believers and brothers? No different than today, people from all walks of life there are others called brothers or sisters. What's the word, brothers in crime? And yes, as then, we have brothers and sisters of Jesus. Just because Jesus said that if you believe in him become their brothers, do not deny that Jesus said his brothers. Just won more brothers on this day.
God says: "And when it happens, happened in a superior room, where both Peter and James and John, and Andrew, Philip, and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon Zealots and Judas the brother of James. These all continued with an agreement in prayer and supplication, with women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers.
  Acts 1:13-14
These verses are calling the apostles by name, and Mary the mother of Jesus is mentioned with his brothers now. They are all in the upper division Brothers? Yes they are, which is illustrated here that Jesus' mother and brothers are in the room. What better way to illustrate the fact that Jesus has an earthly family and their church family. Think about it, all the apostles mentioned by name, then Mary and the brothers of Jesus are mentioned. Is this an attempt to show the two brothers? Indeed it is.
God says: "After these things Jesus walked in Galilee: for he will not walk on the Jews because the Jews sought to kill him. Now the Jews' Feast of Tabernacles was at hand. His brothers therefore said to him, Salida, therefore, and go into Judea, that your disciples also may see the works that thou doest. For [there is] no man [that] whatever he does in secret, and himself seeks to meet openly. If we do these things yourself to the world Shew. Nor do I believe by his brothers
  in it. "
  John 7:1-5
I must admit this is my favorite verse on this subject. How did not realize that "their brothers" here spoke bluntly of his brothers? The argument is mute for which demand is, "Brothers" = "disciple" as well. How? The brothers in this passage is saying to Jesus and go on their way to perform miracles for his "disciples" will see "In the case of his brothers, nor believe in him."
God says: "But other of the apostles who saw none, save James THE LORD'S BROTHER."
  Galatians 1:19
How blunt can you get? Is not this a clear line? We have previously found Jesus in Matthew 13:55 that one of the brothers was named James, and here we see again James is mentioned as the brother of the Lord. Indeed, this is the same James that was inspired by God to write the book of James in the New Testament.
God says "And he knew that she had not brought up his firstborn son: and called his name JESUS."
  Matthew 1:25
Have you noticed that the Bible calls Jesus the firstborn son of Mary? Why is the inerrant Word of God called Jesus the firstborn, if you want that is supposed to be the last born and only son of Mary? According to Catholic doctrine can not be. But I ask, how can a Catholic virgin named Mary, to death when the Bible says exactly the opposite on numerous occasions?
Notice the word "until" in the verse above? The verse above tells us that "Joseph was raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took him to his wife: And knew not until he had brought his eldest son:" [Matthew 1: 24 , 25] It seems fairly clear. Jose went ahead and did as the angel told him and married Mary. So we see the Bible says Joseph, "expected" to consummate the marriage until she had brought to his first son "This shows not readily Mary was a virgin. It is easy to say that his "first" really means that there were more. And they openly declared that Jesus had other children ..
The most obvious note to reflect … As blessed as Mary was beloved of God, do you honestly believe that the Almighty punished with a sterile matrix, after submitting to his will and have his Son? Remember that it is considered a blessing to have children back then, unlike today's society with its millions of self-centered meat nice abortions. PLUS, would it not be considered sin in part to José María DENY carnal desires with his wife? Is it not written .. 1 Corinthians 7:3-5, "Let the husband render to his wife due benevolence: and also the wife to the husband. The wife has no power of his own body, but the husband and the husband also has no power of his own body, but the wife. Is it not to disappoint one another, except it be with the consent of a time, you can give you to fasting and prayer, and come together once again, that Satan tempt you not for incontinency.

~ Question "Why teach Catholic doctrine" purgatory or limbo "when the Bible makes absolutely no mention of it at all"
God says: "And beside all this, between us and you there is a great GULF FIXED: so that what happens, therefore, that there can or can happen to us, who come from there. "
  Luke 16:26
The Bible says clearly that there is a Great Gulf fixed between heaven and hell. Those in the sky can not even go see them in hell. And those who in the hell can in no way to escape the punishment of eternal death. (More on this later)

~ Question "Why are all over the statue of one form or another in the Catholic Church"
God says "No you do any serious image or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the soil or in the waters under the earth."
Exodus 20:4 (this also happens to be * COMMANDMENT # 2)
God says "I am the Lord: that is my name and I will not give glory to another or my praise to serious pictures."
  Isaiah 42:8
God says, "Forasmuch then as we are the sons of God, we should not think that the Godhead is like gold or silver or stone, serious art and device of man."
  Acts 17:29
One thing I've noticed since becoming a true daughter of the first and only living God of all time. Each time you enter a Catholic church I see a dead Jesus on the cross, or to see a helpless child Jesus in the arms of his human mother very much alive. Is depicted as being unable to help in any situation. But when I see Mary, Joseph, Anthony, or any of the other statues of saints, which are very much alive and able to help. (More on this later)
  * Note that Commandment # 2 has been removed from Catholic doctrine, you can find these tests in the current day text of the Catechism of San Jose.
  ————————————–…
Question ~ "Baptism is experienced by believers … Why teach Catholic doctrine to baptize babies when they can not make rational decisions for themselves. "
God says: "And as they went on their way, there was some water and the eunuch said, See here is water, which is to prevent me from being baptized? * And Philip said, If BELIEVEST with all your heart, mayest thou. And he answered and said: I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. And he sent the car to stand still, and both went down into the water, both Philip and the eunuch and he baptized him. "
  Acts 8:36-38
  * Note that in the Catholic Bible is this verse completely. Note also that the Bible records that the verse number 36 … and then jumps to the right verse 38. Even the number "37" was deleted. The reason the Catholic Church has removed this verse from the Bible is primarily because this verse shows that a person must believe that Jesus is the Son of God before being baptized. A child can not make this statement, so instead of changing its doctrine, and who seek to change the Bible to save face. Did not know that God's children to find out about this? Obviously not. (More on this later)

~ Question "How can the Catholic teaching say that people receive the Holy Spirit in confirmation"
God says: "Then Peter said unto them, Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit."
  Acts 2:38
It seems pretty clear what the order of events is here. Repent … be baptized … and then receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Now it is true that all Catholic children are baptized in infancy, this is definitely before the confirmation. But how can the Catholic receiving confirmation that they had never come into repentance before baptism? A child can not do this, plain and simple. It is effectively impossible to baptize a person without their consent, not to mention his knowledge. Do you remember being baptized? I do not remember or recall repentance before being baptized. So how is it possible for me to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit in confirmation when they do not follow the method of the Word of God as stated in the order of events for the reception?

~ Question "Why Catholic doctrine recognizes the confession of sins to a priest"
God says: "My children, these things I write unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: He is the propitation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the world. "
  1John 2:1-2
Jesus is the "propitation for our sins," because when our substitute and assuming our obligations acquitted our fault, and that includes, by the vicar, or substitute the punishment he suffered for us all. In other words, Jesus is the reconciliation of our sins.
God says: "Why Is this man thus speak blasphemies? It can forgive sins but God alone? "
  Mark 2:7
It is absolutely impossible for man to man to forgive the sins committed against God. Think about that for a moment and look at the simplicity of truth in the Scriptures.
  ————————————–…
~ Question "Why is the Catholic teaching say that the priest must sacrifice to Jesus during the mass daily"
God says "Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer a sacrifice, first for his own sins and then for the people: in this he did once, when he offered up himself same. "
  Hebrews 7:27
God says: "When Jesus had received, so the vinegar, said: It is finished, and bowed his head and gave up the ghost."
  John 19:30
  God says: "And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering often the same sacrifices that can never remove sins: But this man, after having offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God;" ;
  Hebrews 10:11-12
When Jesus sat at the right hand of God, He did something that is easy to understand. He completed what came to do. By continuing with the daily sacrifice of the Catholic Mass, the Catholic Church is leading its followers to believe what Jesus did on the cross was insufficient. Catholic teaching can not change what the Scriptures as the register and one answer to sin. Hebrews 7:27 as mentioned above, what Jesus did for us, "he did once, when he offered up himself." Thank you Jesus!

~ Question "Why is writing within the Catholic doctrine that Mary is the Star of the morning and bright
God says: "Jesus sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and offspring of David, the bright and Morning Star. "
  22.16 Revelations
This doctrine of the Catholic Church is one that makes no sense. The reason I say that the Bible is actually the name of Jesus as the Bright Morning Star and the last book of the Bible. It makes me wonder if there are priests read the Bible. This is so easy to be a false doctrine on the last page of the Bible absolutely everyone on the planet Earth. See for yourselves.

~ Question "Why is that the Bible is the only Catholic Bible contain additional books of the Apocrypha" located just before the New Testament, even when the original manuscripts of the Bible contain those books. Neither PLUS OR NEVER quote Jesus his disciples to him? "
God says: "As we said before, so that now again, If anyone preach any other gospel that you have received, be damned."
  Galatians 1:9

~ Question "Why Catholic doctrine called Mary Co-Redeemer-Co-o-Salvador"
God says "Be it known to you all, and all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him Is this man here before all. Nor is there salvation in any other: for there is no other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved "
  Acts 4:10,12
A simple and easily place a oppinionated-verse, right?

~ Question "Why teach Catholic doctrine of his parishioners to pray for the dead saint"
God says: "Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth and the life: no man comes to the Father except through me.
John 14:6 (More on this later)
  PLEASE!
"Understand, I have not written this paper for anger. I write because I believe, more faithful and loyal Roman Catholics are unaware of these facts "
  FOR GOD ALSO SAYS …
Now the Spirit speaks expressly that in recent times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of demons, speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their conscience seared with a hot iron, forbidding to marry , and commanding to abstain from meats, which God created to be received with gratitude those who believe and know the truth.
  1Timothy 4:1-3
That have the appearance of godliness, but deny the power thereof: from such turn away.
  1Timothy 3:5
For I bear them record that they have a zeal for God but not according to knowledge. For ignoring the righteousness of God, and will establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves to the righteousness of God.
  Romans 10:1-3
Anyone care to drain through PHILOSOPHY and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
  Colossians 2.8
But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. Let alone: they be blind leaders of the blind, both fall into the pit.
  Matthew 15:9,14
And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye may not be participating in their sins, YE NOT RECEIVE your pests.

  1. buttafli says:

I was raised Catholic from birth, and was brainwashed to believe what I was taught as lessons of the Bible. My honor I have always believed in God and spirituality, but too many years that was not based on his word.
Fortunately, I was brought to the Bible and I have been trying to resolve the truth lies. It is a hurtful issue that I am working hard to overcome and find acceptance. I am very confused and a little bitter, but at the same time, I am very grateful for the wonderful people here who share their knowledge with beginners like me and are helping me along. Defining the truth in itself gives me faith in God and the power of believing that there is always for you if you are looking for. Thank you all.

You win the prize for the longest question I've seen here. I will also say that this is a very good question (or series of questions) have been well written and carefully thought out.
      Question 1 - papal infallibility
The Pope is infallible only as it relates to teaching and church doctrine. This does not mean he is without sin, and I am sure we all could get a handful of potatoes in the past 2000 years have been less than ideal.
When Jesus said in Luke 10:16 "He who hears you, hears me," and in Matthew 18:18 "What ever bind on earth shall be bound in heaven," gave to the Apostles and their successors, the body of bishops, infallibility, when the doctrine the unity with the Pope, who solemnly teach a doctrine as true.
Infallibility belongs in a special way to the pope as head of the bishops (Matt. 16:17-19, John 21:15-17). As the Second Vatican Council, is a charism the pope "enjoys in virtue of his office, when, as supreme pastor and teacher of all the faithful, who confirms his brethren in faith (Luke 22:32), proclaiming by a definitive act some doctrine of faith or morals. Therefore, their definitions of themselves, and not from the consent of the Church, was held unreformable precisely because it is pronounced with the assistance of the Holy Spirit, an assistance promised him in blessed Peter. "
The infallibility of the Pope is not a doctrine that suddenly appeared in Church teaching, but is a doctrine that was implicit in the early church. It is only our understanding of infallibility which has developed and is understood more clearly in time. In fact, the doctrine of infallibility is implicit in these Petrine texts: John 21:15-17 ( "Feed my sheep …"), Luke 22:32 (" I've prayed for your faith may not fail " ;), and Matthew 16:18 ( "Thou art Peter …").
I do not think it is fair to throw in the Old Testament to dispute the infallibility of the Pope, from the office of Pope is something Jesus gave to Peter in the New Testament, but since you did, I will try to address that too.
The people of Israel have also put their trust in a man, when he went to the head priest for instruction and aid in the understanding of the writing. Asked another person, someone who had studied the Torah and is considered an expert. That is also the role of the Pope, is considered an expert on the Bible and follow its teachings on the basis of their knowledge, a knowledge that was given to him by the Holy Spirit.
Question 2 - Peter the first Pope
I answered this before. Matthew 16:15-18, when Jesus asked the disciples who they say is, Simon said: "You are the Messiah, the Son of God." To which Jesus replied: "Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah. For flesh and blood has not revealed to you, but my heavenly Father. And so I say to you, you are Peter and on this rock I will build my church and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it. To you I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven. What bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. "
      Question 3 - Pedro Married?
Yes, now the Roman Catholic rite predominantly said that priests can not marry. I make this distinction because the Orthodox (or Eastern Rite) Catholics are allowed to marry, and the Latin Rite (often known as Roman) allows Catholic priests who married were ordered to SI in another name and married before who was ordained as a Catholic priest.
The Second Lateran Council in 1139, mandated celibacy for priests, but still running and married in secret. The Council of Trent (1545-1563), ban all marriages took place in secrecy and the mandate that the marriage takes place in public, with witnesses, or else the Church does not recognize as valid the marriage, thus putting end to the Catholic priests are married.
But why? Honestly, it is inexpensive and not scriptural. The Vatican at the time was very controlled and powerful rulers of many countries. I imagine that the Pope told them to do, "or burn in hell," so he did. When the bishops and cardinals began to die and leave their land and property, which was technically owned by the Vatican and the Roman Catholic Church, to the heirs, the church began to lose money. So, to stop the funds to leave the Church, which forbade the marriage. It's that simple.
Today, however, is not so much economic as it is spiritual. A priest is not married so you can devote his life to the Church. He could be called to go anywhere, anytime and uprooting a family with children and everything is just not fair.
As a Catholic, I am not sure that I agree with the practice, but I will support him until the Vatican says otherwise. The same applies to women as an ordained priest. I know several women who know the Bible backwards and forwards, and I personally, would not mind seeing one or two of these women as a priest.
      Question 4 - Rosario
I pray the rosary every day and find it comforting repetition is something that I do not have to think and meditate while others offer prayers, saying the rosary.
In addition, the Rosary is not used as a sentence, exactly. Having something to say, that never changes, and use of accounts, then others are free to offer prayers and meditate. Think of it as a "mantra" or "singing" which, because it is short and easy to remember, lets you do more.
I know exactly where I am at Rosario and what to do.
I would also note that the Rosary is a prayer to Mary, is a prayer through Mary. Ask them to pray for us (Pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death). In addition, the base of the Rosary is in the Bible.
Question 5 - Jesus, the only son
Paragraph 499 of the Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches that Mary was a virgin when the Archangel Gabriel came to her, she was a virgin when she gave birth to Jesus, and still a virgin when she ascended to heaven. Even the birth of Jesus is not "does not diminish" the virginity of Mary. This is one of the tenants of the faith, and one must accept, or can not be Catholic.
Jesus often called people around him his brothers and sisters (and still do, have not you heard, especially Baptists, call each other brother Bob, and sister Sally?), But has no siblings. It would be impossible because of the eternal virginity of Mary. It is believed that San Jose, which was slightly higher than Mary was widowed and had children from a previous marriage, the way to Mary, the mother, and Jesus would then have half brothers, but there are no hard and fast evidence one way or another.
Question 6 - and Purgatory or Limbo
"Making a reunion. . . sent twelve thousand drachmas of silver to Jerusalem to offer sacrifice for the sins of the dead, and religious thinking about the resurrection (for if there was no hope that those who were slain should rise again, it would have seemed superfluous and vain to pray for the dead). And considering that those who had fallen asleep with godliness had great grace laid for them. Therefore, it is a healthy and holy thought to pray for the dead, which may be loosed from sins. "(2 Maccabees 12:43-46)
Now, if you believe that when you die, you go directly to heaven or to hell, and once in the sky that has no need of prayers, and if in hell, prayers will do no good, then this is wrong, but it is in the Bible, so it can not be wrong.
There are also examples in the New Testament, as seen in St. Paul's Corinthisans the letter (1 Corinthians 3:11-15): (Note that the Catholic idea of Purgatory is a cleansing fire ")
"For other foundation can no man, but what is established, which is Christ Jesus. But if any man build upon this foundation, gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay stubble: Every man's work is manifested by the Lord's day shall declare, as evidenced in the fire and the fire is every man's work, what type it is. If anyone's work abide, which has built on this, get a reward. If any man's work record, who shall suffer loss, but he himself shall be saved, but so as by fire. "
As for Limbo. . . The Catholic Church no longer teaches the concept of limbo, so I am really unable to answer at this time. If I find something, I'll edit later.
      Question 7 - Statues
Take a look at your desk or in your portfolio. . . Do you have a picture of someone? Is it that person? NO, it is not. It is a reminder to you of that person. That's all these icons represent.
Crucifix you see when you walk into a Catholic Church is not Jesus nailed to a cross, is a reminder to us that Jesus died on a cross. The statue of Mary, Joseph and all the saints are not saints, are a way to remember that these people are just that, people. Sometimes it's hard to think that someone who has been elevated to the level of a Saint was "Joe" like me. He (or she) is flawed, sinned, became angry as I did. It is a reminder that God calls each of us to be a saint.
If you remember when God gave Moses the 10 commandments, what would we have with them? Put them in a box and decorate it with what? Two cherubim of beaten gold, looking towards him, and spread her wings to both sides of the propitiatory covered.
      The 10 Commandments are:
      1. I am the Lord your God: You do not have strange gods before Me.
      2. You do not have the name of the Lord thy God in vain.
      3. Remember to keep holy the Lord's Day.
      4. Honor your father and mother.
      5. You can not kill.
      6. You can not commit adultery.
      7. You must not steal.
      8. You do not bear false witness against your neighbor.
      9. You shall not covet your neighbor's wife.
      10. You shall not covet your neighbor property.
As for the abolition of his office to Catholic doctrine "Grave Images", I think you have it backwards. Calvin and other reformers, relying more on Exodus 20 and the presentation of the Decalogue, and want to make a strike against the statues and icons in the Catholic Church, following the commandments in a different way.
      Question 8 - Infant Baptism
Baptism is a sacrament, and many fundamentalists see it as an ordinance, which means that one must be able to accept Jesus Christ and one can only do that as a free thinking adult. It does not in any way convey the grace it symbolizes, but is simply a public manifestation of the individual conversion. Since only an adult or older child can be converted, baptism is inappropriate for infants and children who have not attained the age of reason.
But Peter explained what happens at baptism when he said: "Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of their sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit" (Acts 2: 38). But do not restrict this teaching to adults. He added: "For the promise is for you and your children and all who are far away, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to him" (2:39). It also said: "Arise and be baptized, and wash their sins, calling on his name" (Acts 22:16). These commands are universal, not restricted to adults. In addition, these commands are necessary to make clear the connection between baptism and salvation, a connection explicitly in 1 Peter 3:21: "Baptism … Now saves you, not as a removal of dirt from the body, but as an appeal to God for a clear conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.       Question 9 - Confirmation
I remember that baptized, but that is unfair, I was baptized last year (age 39). Why mention this? Well because this is how it was the first baptisms. Very few Christians were baptized as infants, as many of the early Christians were already adults when he became Christian.
The gifts of the Holy Spirit is what we receive in Confirmation. The gifts are:
the spirit of [I] wisdom and [2], understanding,
the spirit of [3] and the right decision [4] courage,
the spirit of [5] and knowledge [6] reverence.
Fill in the spirit of [7] wonder and awe in his presence.
The biblical origin of the seven gifts is found in Isaiah (11:1-3) is to predict where the qualities of the Messiah.
The sacrament of confirmation is found in Bible passages such as Acts 8:14-17, 9:17, 19:6, and Hebrews 6:2, which speaks of a laying on of hands in order to give the Holy Spirit .
Hebrews 6:2 is particularly important because it is a narrative account of how the confirmation was given and therefore can not be dismissed by those who reject the sacrament as something unique to the apostolic age. In fact, the passage refers to confirmation as one of the fundamental teachings of Christianity, which is expected since the confirmation, like baptism is a sacrament of initiation into the Christian life.
We read: "Therefore let us leave the elementary teachings of Christ and go on to maturity, not laying again the foundation of repentance from acts that lead to death, and faith in God, instruction about baptisms, the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead, and trial forever "(Hebrews 6:1-2).
Notice how in this passage that we are walking through the successive stages of the Christian way of repentance, faith, baptism, confirmation, the resurrection, and the sentence. This passage sums up the Christian way to heaven and that gives the order to call the theologians of salvation or Salutis ordo. Well as "primary" in the Christian faith.
      Question 10 - Confession
Confession to God is the first step of any confession. Before entering the confessional, pray to God to forgive us our sins.
In order to have a good (valid) the confession, we confess our sins to God first (called an act of contrition) before going to confession. Then, confess our sins with the priest acting in persona Christi (in the Body of Christ) gives us absolution.
This is in the Scriptures when Jesus was walking down the street and some lepars came to him and asked to be healed. He said: "Your faith has saved you, now go into the city and open your cloak to the priest so that he can see that you are healed."
We show that the faith of God, confessing, and the opening of robes "for the priest is taken metaphorically, to open your heart and tell the priest what they have done.
Sin is not just something you can do against God, but also affects the community. God forgives all sin, if you ask, and goes to the priest, who also are asking for his forgiveness - and that of the community - for the sins they have committed.
In the early stages of the church, the confession was made public as a way to show the community that we feel for what they have done. That was when communities were smaller, and chances are, people already knew. It has taken on the private revalation more to see and use today as the communities have grown.
Many times, just say something out loud helps us, or at least me, to really hear what I have done. One thing is knowing that I have committed a sin, ie to another aloud.
The act of confession is one of the true blessings of the Catholic Church and something to do on a regular basis.
Question 11 - Mary, the bright and Morning Star
Hmm, I'm going to have to postpone this issue for some time. I have not heard of this, but as I said before, I am a "new Catholic" and you should read and research on it.
      Question 12 - Apocrypha
Well, simply, Martin Luther and other Protestants decided that these books do not agree with his views, and to make a valid claim, decided that these books were not true to the Scriptures. Some based their claims on the fact that they were written in Hebrew and that the Jews never recognized as inspired. Others only wanted to get something in return, and others thought they were "divinely inspired" in any way.
Therefore, it is added to the Catholics to the Bible, the Protestants is lifted.
Question 13 - the documents of Vatican II
I have the document of Vatican II, but I can not deal with your question. The Catholic Church is the only Church that has all 7 of the sacraments and uses daily.
For those who do not know, the sacraments are:
      1. Baptism
      2. Confirmation
      3. Eucharist
      4. Confession (reconciliation)
      5. Marriage
      6. Anointing of the Sick
      7. Ordination (Holy Orders)
will not find another church that has 7 of them in practice. That is what is meant by the statement.
I will skip the one on the Scapular. I just do not know.
But at the Mary of the issue:
Calling Mary a co-redeemer is a confusing term for non-Catholics, and especially today. The prefix "co" does not always mean equal. In fact, take a look at it this way, the co-pilot as the pilot? No, that's why it is "co".
Mary is a conduit, if you will. We pray with her, asking him to pray to his son, Jesus. The same goes for your question about prayer to saints. These people are dead and in heaven with Jesus. We ask, through prayer, to pray with us and for us, Jesus and God.
The Bible says that Mary is "full of grace" and "Blessed are you among women," and she is the mother of Jesus, and to be honest, is there a bond stronger than a mother and her child? And if you want to do something for a powerful person, does not use the surrounds himself with people who have the "ear" of the person to help you with your cause?
I am not saved by Mary, or saints, Jesus saved me and God and the Holy Spirit. Mary is a way for me to have someone with me and pray for me. Kind of like you asking your friends to pray for you when you are sick, or to pray for a loved one. The only difference is, Mary and the saints are in heaven with Jesus and pray for you, directly to him, too.
Question 14 - Prayer to the Saints.
I answered the previous question, but if you want clarification, please let me know.
      *****
Please know that I'm not offended (a little tired of writing) in his question. I love this type of question, because I know that people want to know question. It is much better than some who come and say: "Catholics are idiots" - which, unfortunately, I have seen.
If you need further clarification, please contact me through my profile and send me your email address. I will answer your questions as best you can and as honestly as I can.
      Yours in Christ,
      David

  6. AMDG CB says:

Now, do not you think that only answer to your question?

  7. Armus says:

You figure that out yourself, or some of MAN help you out? Fundamentalists are so dependent on man as any other Christian demonination.
      * The arguments for the existence of God were written by and Aquino DeCartes.
      * The whole idea of the Rapture was invented by Wesley two hundred years ago.
      * The books included in the Bible men were voted in my 1600 years ago.
      * The cut and paste job illustrates just hypocritical claim he has done.
Sola Scriptura is a phrase, it makes no sense that every interpretation of the Bible a fundamentalist Christian depends on what other people have said it means. Her parents, Josh McDowell, his pastor.
If it is clear that there would not be demoninations. Heck, between the fundamentalists can not even agree on the pre-or post-trib tribal (not to mention mid-trib !!!).
      Take your hypocritical views elsewhere.

  8. Pastor Billy says:

Every religion contradicts itself at one time or another

  9. Innerman says:

God damn. . . this is a book.
Why do you think these things. . . Similarly, while initially proclaimed that the world was flat. Control. . . if you do not have control of the masses have no power.
Trouble. . . Catholicism has been the only source of Christianity for many centuries (since the early 4th century [AD 325]). And all the other names came out of it. . . have shown that although different. . . and tried to delete either unbiblical. . . or things they feel they should not do.
Since the source of the majority of Catholics are Christian dogma. . . then I do not think that says all the world to one or some aspects of religion. Such as the Trinity and the Cross. . . which was approved by The Church of Pergamos. . . 7 one of the founding churches that are Christainity or Catholicism in general. . . during that period.
