  1. Sir J says:

Being the mother of Jesus has its privileges

  2. FALLENMA says:

people do not question their beliefs and fall into the same trap
most sincere religious people get on, accept what they are
without being asked or research. the Bible makes it quite
simple and clear that nobody is going to make any images
of anyone in heaven and on earth. the Catholic church is well
aware of the writing / literature, but there it goes again
the power of tradition …. rules of the tradition in the church !!!!!!!!!!!!!
      nothing else matters !!!!!!!!!!!

  3. Morwen says:

I think the Catholic Church has misunderstood its role in the birth of Jesus. She was only one person … unless the work is most striking in the history! Can you imagine?

  4. Church Music Girl says:

Roman Catholics give Mary a special place of honor because she became the mother of Jesus. We do not worship her, or her "rank" anywhere close to God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit in importance. Mary was a human girl, just like any of us. His "specialness" comes from the belief that it is the model to accept God's will wholeheartedly, no matter the personal cost.
The reason why the majority of Christian churches have no statues is that people began to worship the statues and praying to the statues in place of God. Catholics share the belief that this is idolatry and evil, but have not gone so far as to remove their breast works of art.
Statues, like other religious art, are intended to help a person to turn their thoughts and prayers to the Lord. When looking at a statue of any known, the person could be the prayer to reflect on the life of the saint, saint followed the way that God, and how the person might try to do the same.

Because many "pagan" religions worship goddesses. It's easier to switch from one to another female deity in exchange for a goddess to a god. Many Catholic "saints" bring a striking resemblance to his pagan predesessors.

They Revere Mary, went to a Catholic mass on Christmas and Christ that is mentioned once, and it took the community a cup,
      can you say STD

  9. fire4Chr says:

Catholics have much repect and honer the Virgin Mary, because it was closest to Christ and his mother> Request interconnec God (Jesus) for us, because God has been accepted by all other saints>

  10. AMDG CB says:

Mary is not only a person like the rest of us. She received a special grace so that she could give birth to the Son of God, Jesus. And in my memory, not many staues of Mary in the Church. I only remember seeing two, one on the front right of the altar, and one in the back.
She is the model that Catholics live up to, give more of themselves to God's will, even if that means renouncing everything that is, have and will be.
As for the "Christian" churches. . . The last I checked, a Catholic church is Christian.

  11. Red-dog- says:

Catholic churches to see Mary as a mediator between God and man.
The Bible teaches that Mary did not need to pray that God will hear us. Jesus is the only mediator between God and man.
Many Christian churches have no statues because they know that people have a tendency to put a value on things … and make an idol.

  12. sandraro says:

Christian churches do not believe in idolatry
pray directly to Jesus and God, not to saints or Mary, it was only a vessel used of God who was not divine.

    >>> Why do so many Catholic churches have statues of Mary? and maintain its image in high esteem?
if it is just a person like the rest of us (Christian) What is the problem? <<<
Mary was not only a person like the rest of us. "
She was the mother of Jesus, the bearer of the New Alliance.
As the Ark was the bearer of the Old Covenant - and never talk about the ship as "just a box."
Indeed, it is true that Catholic churches have "many" statues of Mary. Most churches have a statue of her, if they have any at all.
There are statues of Jesus, Joseph, and (sometimes) of one or more of the saints.
This does not mean that the statues of worship, of course - more than any other Christian worship in the windows of their churches.
The statues are simply reminders of people purporting to describe - like a picture of a household member serves at his desk as a reminder of that person.

  14. imacatho says:

+ Mary is the handmaid of the Lord (Luke 1:38), a servant of God like us.
+ Mary is the first Christian. All others follow his path in the Christian faith. She is the model for us all because she cooperated actively with the Will of God saying "Yes" to God in the plan of salvation.
+ Mary is the model of faith. Mary's faith never wavered throughout his life, even while watching him die on the cross, when most of the Apostles fled.
+ Maria Full of Grace. The angel Gabriel called, "Full of Grace" and said: "The Lord is with you." She is full of grace at that time, the Lord is with her at that moment, before she says "yes" , the angel of the matter. Catholics believe that the state of grace was with her from her Immaculate Conception. God has prepared for his later role as the mother of Jesus.
+ Mary is the mother of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
+ Mary is an abode of the Holy Spirit, a tabernacle. The angel Gabriel says, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you and the power of the Most High will overshadow you." (Like 1:35)
+ Mary praised God through His messenger, the angel Gabriel, "Rejoice, Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you." If God and His angels praise Mary, we should not?
Jesus & Mary honored. Keep the commandments of Jesus and not sin. Jesus fulfilled the commandment to honor both his father and mother. What Would Jesus? Jesus made the honor and Mary his mother.
+ The Holy Spirit inspired praise of Mary. When Elizabeth heard Mary's greeting, the child leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth, filled with the Holy Spirit,
cried with a loud voice and said: "Most blessed art thou among women," and "Blessed are you who believed that what was spoken to you by the Lord has been fulfilled." (Luke 1 :41-45)
+ The Scriptures tell of Mary and Jesus. Mary gives birth to Jesus, he presents to the shepherds, the wise men, God in the Temple. She lived with him for many years in Nazareth, Jesus intercedes in Cana, suffers with him at the foot of the Cross, and he says to the apostles in the Cenacle.
+ Mary was a prophet. "Behold, henceforth all ages call me blessed. The power of God, has done great things for me. "(Luke 48-49) As Christians we believe that the Bible, we should call Mary blessed.
+ Mary is our Mother too. While on the cross, Jesus told his beloved disciple (which represents all Christians), "this is your mother." (John 19:27)
The Blessed Virgin Mary is not a goddess, but the blessed daughter of God the Father, Mother of God the Son, and abode of God the Holy Spirit.
Therefore, it is our prayer to Mary, his cult, but not asking them to pray for us.
Hail Mary full of grace (Bible quote)
The Lord is with you. (Bible quote)
Blessed are you among women (biblical quotes)
And blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. (Bible quote)
      Holy Mary, Mother of God
      Pray for us sinners now
And in the hour of our death. Amen.
      With love in Christ.

  15. Mommy_to says:

    Holy Cow!
You mean to tell me that Jesus would be in the eye and tell him that the woman who gave birth to him is just one person?
We highly appreciate to Mary because she is chosen by God to be the mother of His only begotten Son. She was given a choice, and she said yes to God.
We can only hope to live up to his example …. and so we salute her!

  16. In_His_S says:

Since the use of his image in the beginning of the Catholic Church was used to attract worshipers of the pagan God called the Queen of Heaven. His many pagans who wanted to "convert" their tithes (money). 3 commandment warns Christians not to make, have or worship any image. Saturday-keeping churches did not have pictures, statues, paintings, or even the cross on their buildings. We love God and keep His commandments.

  17. Psionyx says:

Catholic teaching does not warn against idolatry, according to the Bible and the teachings that have diefied to a position that is not even hinted at in Scripture. Indeed, had one of the greatest privileges of a female could never possibly have given birth to the son of God and all, Catholics have what I believe they call their "Great Scenario" or something like that, assumptions that are most commonly based on the pagan teachings and practices that are based on the Bible.
