people do not question their beliefs and fall into the same trap
most sincere religious people get on, accept what they are
without being asked or research. the Bible makes it quite
simple and clear that nobody is going to make any images
of anyone in heaven and on earth. the Catholic church is well
aware of the writing / literature, but there it goes again
the power of tradition …. rules of the tradition in the church !!!!!!!!!!!!!
nothing else matters !!!!!!!!!!!

I think the Catholic Church has misunderstood its role in the birth of Jesus. She was only one person … unless the work is most striking in the history! Can you imagine?

Roman Catholics give Mary a special place of honor because she became the mother of Jesus. We do not worship her, or her "rank" anywhere close to God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit in importance. Mary was a human girl, just like any of us. His "specialness" comes from the belief that it is the model to accept God's will wholeheartedly, no matter the personal cost.
The reason why the majority of Christian churches have no statues is that people began to worship the statues and praying to the statues in place of God. Catholics share the belief that this is idolatry and evil, but have not gone so far as to remove their breast works of art.
Statues, like other religious art, are intended to help a person to turn their thoughts and prayers to the Lord. When looking at a statue of any known, the person could be the prayer to reflect on the life of the saint, saint followed the way that God, and how the person might try to do the same.

Because many "pagan" religions worship goddesses. It's easier to switch from one to another female deity in exchange for a goddess to a god. Many Catholic "saints" bring a striking resemblance to his pagan predesessors.

Mary is not only a person like the rest of us. She received a special grace so that she could give birth to the Son of God, Jesus. And in my memory, not many staues of Mary in the Church. I only remember seeing two, one on the front right of the altar, and one in the back.
She is the model that Catholics live up to, give more of themselves to God's will, even if that means renouncing everything that is, have and will be.
As for the "Christian" churches. . . The last I checked, a Catholic church is Christian.
