Why do some Protestants believe that Catholics Worship Mary?
At least three times a day for finding us Protestants Catholics wondering why we worship Mary. We do not. Why do people think? This is a serious question - I know where that idea comes from … Catholic has told you that? Have you read a tract Chic? Have you read something in the Catechism that lead to believe that the worship of Mary? He asserted that a non-Catholic worship of Mary in a way that will lead you to believe they actually did?
Why anyone thinks that Catholics worship anything but God?
- How many of you believe Catholics Worship Mary and idols?
- Protestants, you say that Catholics Worship Mary.
- Why Catholics Protestants how to treat non-Christians? About what is wrong to worship the Virgin Mary and other saints?
- Why does everyone think that Catholics Worship Mary?
- If the Latin word 'worship' means to worship, how is it that Catholics say they do not Worship Mary?

Well, first, because many of the protesters were told that since they were toddlers. It is certainly what I said.
And once we have been told this, our observations seem to confirm it. I will give you two examples:
First, the statues of Mary or another saint on the front of the church are a stumbling block to many Protestants (although most of us, Lutherans do not have this particular issue). For this to be meaningful, it is necessary to consider the fact that most Protestants do not believe that the Eucharist is really Jesus.
When protesters are preparing to take communion, what they see is a representation of Jesus, who although not currently visible, it is our object of worship.
Then visit or see a picture of a Catholic church, and they see a statue of Mary in a prominent position. Mental process as another example of the same - as a representation that the bread and wine are a representation. Therefore, it is automatically assumed that Mary is to you an object of worship.
Secondly, although the Protestants successfully wrap their minds around the fact that prayer is not worship, some of the prayers to Mary are very worrying for us.
Might have something to do with how we are introduced to the idea of prayer to the saints. Nothing in the conventional explanation that you can set up a Protestant by the words of the Salve Regina. To ask another Christian to pray for us is something that makes sense for the majority of Protestants. However, another Christian to refer to as our life, sweetness and hope, and our lawyer, that person and ask for mercy in the context of our fallen nature - that is something quite different.
I do not think that Catholics worship Mary, but I think the latter issue in particular is one that Catholics need to face to explain their practices. It is undoubtedly a major obstacle for me personally.
IMO it's because this is what we have been indoctrinated to believe in the family or religious leaders - people who love and / or respect. you really want to admit that someone you love / respect is wrong? would not and does not expect to turn to the mistaken beliefs of listening to a stranger, or even your own eyes.
I hope Marty posts information on the comments of Martin Luther on Mary ….. going to pray to Mary in the same way as Catholics.
Because I think people confuse the act of prayer as an act of worship. My understanding is that the saints and angels are intermediaries and messengers of God. The true honor and worship is how you live your daily life and how to praise whatever God you believe in.
Sources huh? Big Fat EDIT:
See my source below …
But I have to ask this … Does Mary intercept your prayers for God and put them in holy as seen in the refrigerator so that your heavenly god can look at them when they return from their celestial journey?
They do not understand the difference between "worship" which is reserved for God, and "prayer", which simply means communication.
The cult of Mary is only in the fight against Catholic people of the imagination to justify its black propaganda against Catholicism.
Because they have been deceived by Satan into thinking that Catholics worship Mary. And many of them act as agents of Satan in spreading lies against the Church that Christ founded.
You shall not bow down before any serious image in the sky above or below ground.
I'm Jewish and found the statues of the Virgin Mary in Catholic churches, which is against the Ten Commandments.
you say you do not worship Mary, but you pray to her and ask for things. I just do not understand that.
I think it may have something to do with the prayer of intercession to Mary when Jesus alone who intercedes on our behalf.
Here's your answer.
2 reasons
1) They are ignorant of everything. Including the Bible and Jewish law. (Do not know the Bible if you do not know the man who wrote … and the Jews were (If God wrote the Bible, why not everyone is a believer? If you did not write it …. apparently is perfect because it has a lot of mistakes.))
As someone commented on time. There is a difference between prayer and worship. Besides praying to a saint that does not happen often. When you do it for something smaller. Because it is disrespectful to God Almighty to harass your little puny concerns. so that the saints are like gods Secretaries. Dealing with things he does not feel like work. You know what they say about how down the hill functions. God is a very busy man, after all, a universe that has been performed and it is doubtful that the earth is only a little of your anthill.
2) Some Catholics "are the" cult of Mary.
La Virgen de Guadalupe is one of the many bastardizations of pagan gods and goddesses.
Catholics used to have a bad habit of taking the local gods, shine them up their robes, plastering with a cross on them, and asking the saints (the church recently abolished a lot of saints who found no history of existence) (since a good percent of them are ours. we greatly thank you for that. also renounced crime Olaf mud … or as some of you know him "Saint" Olaf. I think that remains to Although holiness. The Church does not want to make more history of the evolution of its own).
Unfortunately they were out of practice when the Spaniards arrived in the new world. it did something stupid and bastardized a biblical character. the Virgin Mary. (Otherwise it would be a saint and women.)
Hispanic Catholicism is a religion very strange hybrid. See also Mary's ego seems to be happening is happening around a Mexico, and Mexicans tend to live ….
Not to mention being the number 23. Its really in his head. as well as signs of God, premonitions, etc.
I feel I have so many ignorant people respond to your question
People are erroneous information from their parents or ministers, and I think that is true. As you can see below, no matter how you explain the difference between worship and prayer, or how not, but the worship of statues representing Christ, these ignorant fools who still believe the lies that have been fed. You and I know that does not worship anyone or anything other than God. You just have to close our eyes and ears to this cr @ p. There is nothing you can do about the mind and is closed, except pray for them.
Preaching to the choir here, I am a cradle Catholic. I have lived a very protected life because they knew there was so much hatred, ignorance and prejudice towards our misguided faith. Insurance in 1800, but surely in these days people have more and more intelligence. So sad how some people have been taught throughout his life and is, in fact, believe that these horrible mistruths because they do not want to believe otherwise.
I would like for each of them to attend a Mass to hear our Nicene Creed is recited at Mass every Sunday is a base run by our beliefs and if you do not consider Mary as God. In fact, Mary guarantees a single line in the Creed ( "He was born of the Virgin Mary"). No more religion is dedicated to her as if she believes in a deity?
How sad that some people are so strong in his prejudices are not going to believe the truth of our Catholic faith, but a million Catholics respond to your question on Yahoo Answers.
Wow, I was hoping for some real idea. Unfortunately I only have a load of the same ol 'things.
In this country, where they are so "tolerant" I am surprised that so many feel quite comfortable telling others what they do and not do, as if it were fact.
But saddest of all are those that begin with "I was a Catholic …" what a shame. They carry much of the burden of responsibility for the misled and misinformed. Which propagate the lie, based on his own incomprehension. Unfortunately, many Catholics were not catechized, adding that the world that God wants us to be happy and never asks us to live a life of sacrifice, suffering, and then pull a little in the Bible … and fundamentalism is a bad example of the former Cahtolicism Catholics.
We do not worship Mary, but we do believe that is worthy of honor and love. We do pray to her, NEWS FLASH: Prayer is not equal worship! The word "pray" means to request or petition. That's what we do. If you read the Gospels, you will notice that many times a person who came to Jesus asking someone healed. Jesus would say in response "because of their faith" that person has been cured. Think about that. That's intercession, the other is healed by the faith of the question. This is what makes Mary, through your prayers for us, his faith is added to ours so you can be healed.
Protestants misunderstanding or honor of Mary is your problem. As Catholics we know that we love and honor. Mary says to herself "all nations shall call me blessed."
Not the veneration of saints out of the worship of Christ?
"There are several degrees of this cult:
If you go directly to God, is superior, absolute, supreme worship, or worship, or according to the consecrated theological term, a cult of Latvia. This sovereign worship due to God alone, to a creature would become idolatry. When worship is addressed to God only indirectly, ie when the object is the veneration of the martyrs, of angels or saints, is a subordinate worship dependent on first, and relative to the extent which honors the creatures of God for their peculiar relationship with him, is designated by theologians as the worship of Dulia, a term denoting servitude, and that means, when used to mean our worship of distinguished civil servants of God, their service to Him is their title to our veneration (see Chollet, loc. cit., col. 2407, and Bouquillon, Tractatus de virtute religionis, I, Bruges, 1880, 22 sq.). As the Blessed Virgin has absolutely supereminent separately and are among the saints, the cult is called hyperdulia your pay (for the meaning and history of these terms see suicide ecclesiasticus Report, 1728). "
I do not know why some object to this definition, since it clearly states that worship is Christocentric, but let me try to explain further.
Throughout history the Church has given special honor to the Virgin. The definition is an attempt to differentiate the differences in how they worship the Virgin and other saints to worship as Catholics have to embody the Word of God, the Father and the Holy Spirit.
Saints are venerated with Dulia ", which is given due reverence and devotion to his intercession on behalf of us and is very similar to the reverence of the friends to pray for us in times of need.
The mother of God is also human hyperdulia reverence and devotion, but with a deep respect for its proximity to his son in our prayers of intercession. All prayer, if he is a saint or the Blessed Mother in our name, is totally and absolutely dependent on Christ.
What one should try to understand is that the Catholic devotion to the blessed mother was not of our worship of Christ, but it gives to our worship better care. This is not like the idolatry that changes the focus from the true God, but through the imitation of his devotion is focused on him. Each saint dedicated her life to the devotion and service to God gives us encouragement and your prayers for us gives us more hope that it will endure for the salvation of his final instance as an example.

When Catholics invoke Mary as an intercessor to God direct, and declare his immaculate conception, which are, in fact, its elevation above the humanity and making a step short of divinity. If you want to call "worship" is more a semantic issue than a matter of practice, if one of the followers of the Flying Spaghetti Monster urged the Italian Meatball ( "Meatball Hail, full of grace!") And then outside observers Meatball consider an object of worship. The same applies to outsiders perceive the invocations to Mary.
WHY YOU!
Catholics worship Mary as the named "Mother of God." I am talking to you and you hear bad Protestants, but they are still arguing about the Bible. Only demonstrates to others how a book can be interpreted in thousands of ways if this is the true word of God would not be able to do that;)
I am a former Catholic … pray for someone is a form of worship ….. Catholics pray to Mary as …. Catholics believe their co-redeemer (she is not perfect, it was not always a virgin and was not crucified for my sins and there is no biblical account of his ascent )….. and "Mother of God" is wayyyy out of line ….. Just read the Scriptures, and can not go wrong …. Appreciate the honest investigation ….
There is much discussion about the meaning of the word cult.
However, if you feel like Mary without sin, and everything becomes prayer to Mary for whatever reason, they are regarded as heretical by Protestant doctrines.
Hmmm … I know several Catholics who pray to the Virgin Mary. If you are praying to anyone but Christ / God, then it is considered worship. I also have many statues of Mary THO in or around your home. This is a form of worship and idolatry. I know a girl who has a pendant with the image of the Virgin Mary that she wears all the time around his neck.
All that sounds like religion to me.

Bercause they do.
I am a former Catholic, and I've seen!
And that's not all that religious, as shown here: http://missionary1954.deviantart.com/jou …
I was raised Catholic, you are saying that only the worship of God? Now that you know is not true. You worship Jesus. And personally, if I wanted to worship Mary, I see nothing wrong with that.
Do you pray to Mary?
I've seen Catholic prayers to Mary, asking for his intercession between God and man. That's just wrong.
As Christians we pray in the power of the Holy Spirit through the blood of Jesus, God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit-period.
Not the Saints, not Mary, not the priests.
I have been both Catholics and Protestants, is seen by non-Catholics who worship Mary and pray to her and to have statues of them, so in a way to worship Mary.
we feel the Holy Mother the Catholic worship, we pray in the Ore Hal Mary is important in the Catholic religion is that she was the mother of Jesus, .. so bad
As a former Catholic and now an evangelical Christian I believe is Chatholic because the Church says that Mary was without sin.
Because I was a Catholic ……….. and have seen first hand.
They do.
Does the phrase "Hail Mary, full of grace …" sounds like?
She should not be adored!
Only Christ is to be adored
I do not know, but surely want success in primary
is hot
Catholics have statues of Mary in the church.
so bad.
Yes, we hear the songs and read books about him. Around ….
