Why does everyone think that Catholics Worship Mary?

I am a devout Catholic, and have always been puzzled by the fact that most people think WORSHIP Mary! NO. God is one God. We are Christians like the rest of Christians. We honor Mary as the Mother of Jesus, and ask for us to intercede on our behalf to God, but nothing more. All: Catholics DO NOT worship Mary! Why does everyone have trouble understanding that ????????????

I am Catholic and thank you for clarifying this with others. Of course, not the worship of Mary, honored as the mother of Jesus.
As some personal background, I became Catholic after doing a lot of research on my own. Since I already believed in Jesus, who wanted to find the majority of Christian churches. Choose Catholic because it is the original Christian church.
As a little background to this, Jesus created the first Pope when he said to Peter:
"I also tell you that you are Peter and on this rock I will build my church and the gates of hell shall not dominate it." - Matthew 16:18.
Peter was therefore the first Pope or Holy Father, and each was elected pope today. There is actually a trace of all the Pope (Holy Fathers) in the church back to Peter.
I like the church, and since it is the original source, I can rely more on how to interpret the Bible and what Christ wanted for his church on earth. I also like that I can go to any country or state and visit a church and I have the same mass no matter where I am. But above all, I like that the Eucharist is the bread to eat and drink the blood (wine) of Christ in every church.
The Catholic Church was the authority on earth when Jesus said to Peter:
      Matthew 16:19
"To you I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and which bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall have loosed in heaven."
Of course, the Protestants broke from the church about 500 years ago and now there are literally hundreds of Christian churches. Now, I would be the last to criticize other Christian churches, because what matters most is faith in Christ and live a Christian life that is hard to do. But the good news is that Jesus is peace and love and forgive the sinners.

  2. Matt D says:

The problem is most profound in his theology. Literally Catholics believe that Mary was "Mother of God" and "Mother of salvation." That literally was without sin, a perpetual virgin, and gave birth to Jesus, not just "the human body, but his deity and I find that nothing short of blasphemy. Mary did not give Jesus deity, nor is it one with God, it was just a good Jewish girl and still a sinner like the rest of us. It is not necessary to intercede in prayer, the Bible teaches anything. In fact, the Bible says the prayer for the dead is forbidden!

  3. DR. THEO says:

In an article entitled "Mary, Mediatrix of All Graces." The priest quoted the Second Vatican Council (Lumen Gentium # 51-62): "…. in suffering with Him as He died on the cross, [which cooperated in the work of Salvador], in a totally unique way, by obedience, faith, hope and burning love, [to restore supernatural life to souls] . As a consequence of this is our Mother in the order of grace ."…….. This [the maternity of Mary in the ecomomy grace] lasts without interruption from the consent given by faith in the Annunciation, which was no doubt under the cross, even [at the continuity of all elected consumation ]. To [after taking in heaven, has not neglected the role of savings], but given their multiple intercession [read WIN (Jesus telling him what to do) the gifts of eternal salvation for us]. For his mother's love, [which deals with the brothers of his Son] (as are all her little children - including Jesus!), Which is still in pilgrimage and in dangers and difficulties, until they lead to Through the happy home. For this reason, the Blessed Virgin is invoked in the Church with the titles of Advocate, Auxilatrix, Adiutrix and Mediatrix. However, this means that it takes nothing away, and adds nothing to the dignity and efficacy of Christ the one Mediator [lo ?!???!! Only Ombudsman said she is! Satan has bewitched papists for not even see the glaring contradiction in this paragraph]. For no creature can be all at the same level with the Incarnate Word and Redeemer [that's what you have done you a heretic and blasphemer !]….."…… As you can see, the Catholic believe that you can only obtain the grace to be saved through Mary! Lord, have mercy! The Bible says that the Lord Jesus Christ ….. —- Neither is there salvation in any other, for no other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved !…………. A Catholic I said, "We do not worship Mary." Yes you. It is the cult of the creep show icons, images, relics and continuously. If you consider the Bible of the Roman tradition, who willingly worship according to a lie. Is the Bible a good start to the curb and the trial of God is within you ……… Catholics have a place in the title :……. Lift Jesus in the Eucharist (Jesus as a piece of pasta that is eaten), Mary Honor (worship and pray with her), Co-Redemtrix (which pays for our sins, as Jesus) Mediatrix of All Graces (the only way to obtain the grace to be saved is through Mary), lawyers (who now takes the place of Jesus, our counsel as the Bible); True to lying men, not God, but of course they call Pope God )………… Always show a dead Jesus. I guess this is appropriate as Jesus is indeed dead. In fact, he never lived. He is just some flour and water ……… Here are some more Catholic Mumbo-Jumbo. She is a "dispensatrix. (They come with a few words! Mysticizing great time.) The following quote comes Immaculata Magazine :…… The argument goes like this. Since Mary gave birth to Christ and cooperated Ill [sic] salvation, would not it be logical to play a role in sharing the grace of His Son? The Catholic Church says so, so much so that the maintenance of [all the graces that come to the world of the Divine, through its flow exclusively]. This concept is called "Mariano Prerogative. "Everything is the operative word here. All media through actual grace, habitual grace, infused grace, sacramental grace, the gifts of the Holy Spirit and the charisms. Everyone means everyone, without exception, in all ages, including those prior to the Redemption [received saving grace for the future recognition of the merits of Mary]. If you do not recognize the fact that Mary dispensatrix role is irrelevant. flows through all grace, however, "………… If you do not worship Mary - So how in the world can claim to be his co-redeemer in Christ Jesus and not worship ?!!…. everything they do points to the fact that indeed the cult of Mary and Jesus to kick the curb ………… Catholics say they do not worship Mary - but not bad, Catholics, this is blasphemy. Here is a warning and admonition. You need to be saved …….." leave both of them, and ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing: and I will give you "……. …. "And it will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty "………. 2 Corinthians 8:17-18 says ….." God is a Spirit: and worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth ."……… God will not accept your worship based on a lie. Repent or perish.

because they are Catholic and do not understand our relegion

  5. zuboko says:

I ran some people who claim to be Catholics who worshiped Mary one of them told me "Jesus lived a perfect life. Mary, but through his guidance finally reached perfection. "Those with whom I spoke shared the same belief also said that they felt that Mary was with God and our lawyer seamed to me that Mary was raised to the position of that most Christians celebrate Christ in.
I have also conducted in May to people who claimed to be Catholic that the seam to share their views.
If I had to take a guess I would say (if the people were telling the truth about their religious affiliations), the apparent lack of cohesion between the teachings of the various Catholic congregations could be part of it, and when I think about it, I think There are Catholic churches of different denominations, and it seems that the cult of Mary could be part of a different name.

  6. Perla says:

im not a Catholic or Christian in general. I do not know much about any religion, but from what Ive seen, Catholics pray to Mary. If you are a Christian, why not pray to Jesus or God himself? I hope not to offend anyone important, that's just my perception.

  7. Esther says:

Julia, you have to open our eyes and see what the Catholic Church really believes. Of course the cult of Mary. That put up their statues, burn candles before, pray with her. I have even heard, on television stations Catholic priests spoke of Mary as "co-redemptrix. The Bible says there is no other mediator between God and man, Jesus. Mary did not "intervene" for you.

  8. SpiritRo says:

You will get the same shit as always answers it receives. Is not it wonderful that Catholics are not so sure what we say we do? LOL!
Having been part of the "born again fundamentalist 'crowd before choosing Catholicism, I can say that Catholicism is against the widespread and that was just what we believe
they are told without doing your own research.
I asked a poster, once Mary is mentioned many times in the Mass, and said the rosary was part of the Mass - which is how much of their misconceptions go!
Do not worry - we know the truth, and if they want to continue believing what they do, and believe the lies, so be it.
      Peace, friend.

  9. Samona says:

First … Catholics are not Christians who are Catholic - big difference
Secondly … Mary intercedes for your prayers … which is a form of worship … Mary is just one person … The Bible teaches that only the Holy Spirit can intercede for our prayers … It is not a priest, and certainly not Mary!

  10. melissa s says:

I think we should only pray to my god, but they grow in the Catholic church was told to pray to Mary included many took more than 20 years to shake the guilt and how hypocritical of the Catholic Church, we must close the doors Me when most needed (divorce) I am a lot happier now, attending a church that wants to see me happy is always really concerned about good times or bad, and not judge

  11. Sldgman says:

People think that Catholics worship Mary, Catholics because they kneel and pray in front of a statue of Mary. See us do these things and make assumptions about what we are doing based on their own path and understanding of worship.
For many non-Catholics, kneeling and praying are synonymous with worship. For them, if we kneel and pray, then we must worship. While kneeling and praying are gestures that can be used in worship, it does not always mean we are worshiping.
Kneeling is a gesture of submission and the recognition that the person standing is higher than the knees. Mary and the Saints took the life of faith and holy obedience to God and the life they led, which are greater than ourselves. No more than God, but they are bigger than us.
Prayer is not always about worship. Even in our relationship with God, prayer is not always about worship. When we pray to God, sometimes as an act of gratitude, petition, or contrition. These actions are not of worship. When we pray to Mary and the saints, is to ask them to pray for us. This is the same as asking friends and family to pray on our behalf. Catholics consider the sky to be part of our friends and family.

  12. Information Police says:

    Many Catholics worship Mary DO.
I've seen enough devotional shrines and statues and heard enough of the Ave Maria. And the fact that in some Catholic countries, almost all women and some men even called Maria …. If that is not worship, I do not know how to define the word.

  13. crimthan says:

Mary has died and according to their views on heaven, limbo, etc.. and can not intercede for us. Only Jesus intercedes for us before God. Why have a script and make it part of your faith?
All the saints have not we care and not the scriptures until you can return.
Is like a Buddhist rosary beads and more. It seems that over time the church has added mysticism and other "pagans" practice their beliefs.
But please do not misunderstand me. I know we are Christians and have done many things since its founding to the fall of the Roman Empire. However, you are not the first church the oldest intact.

  14. Spud55 says:

Speaking of being baffled … Why you ask Mary to intercede on his behalf when you have Jesus? Mary did not suffer for their sins in Gethsemane. Mary is important, but more in a historic spiritual journey.

  15. Darryl says:

You are''Ave Maria Full of gracia''suena worship me too!
Perhaps all those little concrete statues enshrined in their yard? or how your type congregate in one spot on the wall
      and pay tribute!

  16. Giggly Giraffe says:

"A warm welcome to Maria Protestant" (Women of the Bible, by U.S. News):
"… Today, more and more Protestants are welcoming Mary into their spiritual lives. Several new books by Protestants have stimulated new interest in the Virgin Mother. And a Catholic Anglican commission recently announced an agreement on Mary landmak that could help close the gap between the two denominations. The story of Mary, says Beverly Gaventa, (A New Testament scholar at Princeton University and coeditor of the book "Glory: Protestant Perspectives on Mary)," is a wonderful example of divine grace that the Protestants have neglected. Catholic territory was considered, but now the lines are falling between the names. "
Like many Protestants, Norris said he learned next to nothing about Mary Methodist congregation and upbringing, but after spending time in the Benedictine monasteries grew to identify with it. "Like Mary, I called every day to Christ in the world in my prayers, thoughts and actions," he says.

  17. fangtaiy says:

In fact, prayer to the Virgin Mary for intercession is a form of worship. Mary has been assigned a sacred place in Catholicism and is said to have been taken to heaven to sit with God. This makes her, speaking mythologically, a goddess. Honor is worship. The reason many say that Catholics "worship, because Mary is the icons in most Catholic churches. The real confusion on the part of Catholics themselves. The Catholic Church denies the divinity of Mary, while raising the status of any mythology of the goddess.

  18. LineDanc says:

They do. Not involve the worship prayer to Mary?
Where in the Bible is Mary called "Bar", "Auxiliatrix" Adjutrix "," Queen of Angels, "" Queen of Heaven "and" Mediatrix "? The Catholic church has deified Mary.

  19. Radictis says:

Because people really are not willing to take the time to investigate his Church. They are even more reluctant to go to the source to find answers, but rather depend on the small-minded people to give them the answers they are seeking.

  20. godsamor says:

Honor and worship are synonymous. Also ask her (Mary) to intercede for you is pointless and contrary to what the Bible says.
"For the living know that they died, but the dead know nothing …" (Ecclesiastes 9:5).
Any thing that is synonymous with nothing.
So why the Catholic church to pay tribute to Mary a lot to do imposed images of her?
"Do you taxed any image? This commandment is omitted from the Catholic Bible.
Read about your church and its teachings. Make sure you understand why you believe what you do.
      Good luck

  21. joshuaka says:

Not everyone thinks that only people without education, without a fool and I think. But why Mary is blessed? Surely there are more than his mother of Jesus!

  22. Dr. Linder says:

i dont think Catholics worship Mary, but I do not know to ask for her to intercede for us on our behalf to God "
isn't this communication with the dead? this isn't banned? Do we ask the relatives killed interconnection for us?
The Bible tells us that Christ is our lawyer. It says nothing about Mary is our intercessor and advocate.
1Jn 2:1 My child, write these things to you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
No disrespect to the human mother Mary as our Divine Savior, but she is not a deity and I think she should be like any other soul in heaven.

  23. Kelly L says:

According to Scripture, Jesus is the only intercessor between God and humans. Praying to Mary does not help at all, because you are not following Jesus' instructions to pray directly to God through Jesus.

  24. Cortney N says:

I wasraised Catholic, and I would not say "worship" Mary. No longer feasible to Catholicism, but I understand the difference between the Catholic and Christian view displayed at the hearing. Catholics saw an immaculate and pray with her. Christians view as a normal person who has been chosen by God to be the father of Jesus …. she was not flawless and does not pray with her.
Many of the Catholics (Catholics older) have a lot of statues and images of Mary in her home …. is perhaps the confusion.

  25. 5cents_w says:

Why do Catholics pray to other people? Do you believe that your prayers are more likely to be answered, if not from them directly? You may not think that it is worship, but it seems safe to worship.
