Why is it important to the Catholic confession?
I do not understand why I have to go meet with a priest and talk about my sins (Besides, it is difficult to a) if i could pray to God myself.

Jhn 20:23 "If you forgive sins, () your sins have been forgiven them, if they keep the () of sins, have been withheld."
~ ~ ~ ~ Jesus gave the authority to forgive sins.
Lev 5:10 "The second will be prepared as a burnt offering, according to the Ordinance. So the priest shall make atonement on his behalf for his sin he has committed, and will be forgiven him.

Satan wants you doesn't cleansed of their sins. Through confession and penance you receive absolution and forgiveness. Your list is clean.
It is important to confess and do often. Sin hanging over your head can lead to other sins.
is difficult, but you feel much better after.
A confession made in the full presence of God for what they are praying with him and are forgiven on the spot.
Peace be with you.

P.S. feel free to contact me via S / A if you have any further questions.
Unless there is true contrition for their sins, while the priest pronounces the words of absolution, you will not be forgiven, have compounded the problem by making a bad confession (another mortal sin to add to your list).
What is it that keeps men away from religion? Pride. What does God say about pride? It resists the proud, who gives grace to the humble. The devil is proud, but now is in hell forever. Although it can be like a roaring lion seeking to devour someone who does so by inculcating to be like him - to become proud.
One becomes humble through the humiliation, but what is in the humiliation of confessing to nothing? God knows what they are guilty and that requires you to submit to the decrees of His One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church, outside which no one is spared.
But remember this too, the Scriptures and the Church also teaches that the majority of adult Catholics go to Hell. Why? Bad confessions.
Do your best to confession? It does not sound like her.
All souls are in hell to make one thing: the eternity can not remedy what for them an hour in the soil can have: to confess their sins with a contrite heart.

Catholic confession to God
I learned that from my grandmother
"When you realize sin, just say one" Our Father "and" Ave Maria "and" Gloria "that's what I said. (Go to God immediately)
He taught us to examine our consciences and say a daily prayer before every prayer of the publican: "God, mercy me a sinner"
Confess to a priest is taking any mortal sin and seeking the acquittal of the same, which is different. Only a priest can grant this acquittal.
You can not do outside of Catholics to be sorry for sins, guilt and feeling guilty and being released from it more than anyone in the world.
Matthew 16:19 For you I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven. What bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. "
"Receive the Holy Spirit. For those whose sins to forgive, they are forgiven, whose sins for those who retain are retained "(John 20:22-23).
Such were the instructions of Jesus to his apostles. Attention to understand the depth of the message?
Well firstly, it is humility to confess to a priest (acting in the name of Jesus to forgive you) to think again about doing what he did sin. Confess to God alone And you are proud lyrics confession in the confessional.
Secondly, the priest can not break the vow of never Confessional. They can not tell anyone what you did.
Thirdly the Bible tells us to confess to one another,
James 5:16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for one another that can be healed. The fervent prayer of a person is just very powerful.
In fourth place comes from God,
2 Corinthians 5:18 And all this comes from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation.
Because Christ has appointed his Apostles to continue his work. Through the succession of the apostles, the clergy been forwarded to the authority (and others)
John 20:22-23 "Jesus said to them again," Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, (AD) also be sent. (AE) 22 Having said this, He breathed on them (AF), said, [d] "Receive the Holy Spirit. (AG) 23 If you forgive the sins they are forgiven them, whether to retain [the sins], they are retained. "(AH)
Acts 20:28 "be on guard for yourselves and for all the flock, (W) among which the Holy Spirit has appointed you as overseers, (X), pastor of the church of God, [h] He acquired with his own blood "
This sacrament is based on the mission that God gave to Christ as the Son of man on earth and will forgive sins (cf. Matt. 9:6). Thus, the crowd who witnessed this new power "glorified God who had given such authority to men" (Matthew 9:8; note the plural "men"). After his resurrection, Jesus went on his mission to forgive the sins of his ministers, saying: "As the Father has sent me, even so I send you …. Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins are forgiven them, if retengáis, they are retained "(John 20:21-23).
Confession is necessary because it is one of the jobs he gave to the apostles of Jesus to come into the world and forgive sins. John 20:23 "If you forgive the sins, their sins have been forgiven them, if they keep the sins that have been maintained." . Jesus seems absurd to say this if people could actually ask. Just as Catholics believe that forgiveness of sins is one of the jobs of the Apostles and the successors of the apostles, bishops and priests, we feel it is necessary for salvation, because Jesus said so. However, keep in mind that not all sins is necessary although it is beneficial confessed. Only mortal sins must be confessed.
I understand how uncomfortable. I note that the confession is only a first step in a process of reconciliation with God, Jesus and the Father. Then you must ask for forgiveness for their sins and promise to "go and sin no more." If you have a trust relationship with the priest I think it is possible that the priest can be of great help with the reconciliation.
The need and practice of oral confession of sins
James 5:16 - James clearly teaches us that we must "confess our sins to each other," not just privately to God. James 5:16 must be read in the context of James 5:14-15, which refers to the healing power (both physical and spiritual) of the priests of the Church. Therefore, when James says "therefore" in verse 16, which should refer to the men he was writing about in verses 14 and 15 - these men are the ordained priests of the Church to whom we must confess our sins.
Acts 19:18 - many came to orally confess sins and divulge their sinful practices. Oral confession was the practice of the early Church as it is today.
Matt. 3:6, Mark 1:5 - again, this shows people confessing their sins before others as a historical practice (here to John the Baptist).
1 Tim. 6:12 - this verse also refers to the historical practice of confessing sins and faith in the presence of many witnesses.
1 John 1:9 - if they are to confess our sins, God is faithful to us and forgive us and cleanse us. But we must confess our sins to one another.
Num 5:7 - this shows the historical practice of publicly confessing sins, and making public restitution.
2 Sam. 12:14 - despite the fact that sin is forgiven, the punishment due for sin forgiven. David is forgiven but his child was still taken (the consequence of his sin).
Neh. 9:2-3 - the Israelites was before the assembly and confessed sins publicly and interceded for each other.
Lord. 4:26 - God tells us that he is not ashamed to confess our sins, and not to try to stem the flow of a river. Anyone who has experienced the sacrament of reconciliation understands the import of this verse.
Baruch 1:14 - again, this shows that the people made the confession in the house of the Lord, before the assembly.
1 John 5:16-17, Luke 12:47-48 - there is a distinction between mortal and venial sins. This has been the teaching of the Catholic Church for 2000 years, but today, most Protestants no longer agree that there is such a distinction. Mortal sins and lead to the death should be absolved in the sacrament of reconciliation. Venial sins need not be confessed to a priest, but the pious Catholic practice is to do in order to move forward on our path to holiness.
Matt. 5:19 - Jesus teaches that breaking the least of commandments is venial sin (the person remains, but is saved in the kingdom), versus mortal sin (the person is not saved).
well, I feel the same way. Now, when I am Pope of the Catholic Church, I will try to change some of these things. BUT, in all fairness, not everyone has a close relationship with God as you do. Therefore, it is always good to have someone to turn to, sometimes things just outside your chest will do wonders. Priest just remind you that your forgiveness, through Christ.
1) It is important because Jesus wanted:
John 20:23: If you forgive anyone his sins, they are forgiven if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven. "
James 5:16: Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The prayer of a just man is powerful and effective.
Note that says to confess to each other. Also in the Old Testament, people confessed their sins to priests as well. Jesus followed this in John 20:23.
2) When the sin we have sinned against God and the Church. On behalf of the entire community, the priest gives absolution. God through the priest, forgives us.
3) also ensures that the priest of God's mercy and forgiveness, gives tips to sin no more, and is very therapeutic. If we go to confession more often, I bet council would lose business. Getting to hold God's forgiveness and reconciliation with him.
I feel uncomfortable sometimes its too much. The more frequently you go, the more you get used to. You will find that although it may be difficult, it is a wonderful sacrament, another way to find God. The guilt is all thanks to the confession.
Remember that the priest will not judge. Only God has the right to judge, because the priest did not die for your sins, Jesus did. And these priests also have to confess, even the Pope goes to confession (often).
understand the feelings of its accuracy. It's hard to tell your sins to someone you see every Sunday to church and who knows. However, this is the idea of Jesus, not the idea man, only God could think of something like that. Man had not invented, it is no way to attract people to church. But God knew how it would be healing for the soul. I knew that we could cure spiritual illness through this sacrament. Sure was nice to be in private to tell their sins to God and no one knows but you and him, how he should therefore not humiliating, but not the idea that God was / is meek and humble. Sorry, you must keep, regardless if anyone is happy or not. Personally, I just accept it and practice it. that is my faith.
Andrew is right that Jesus gave authority to his apostles. During the confession, the priest having to Jesus gave authority to forgive. So in a sense, the priest is not really forgive you, your Jesus.
It has been demonstrated by psychologist that confession is good for our mind, and that frees us from our actions and hidden guilts. And that is exactly what happens.
Go to confession as soon as possible.
My friend was reluctant at first but she really liked it. Said he was nice:)
God bless!
I confess that my father because that is the way Jesus did in the sacrament. It is at its command to confess to one another. When you sin against the Father our sins also affect our Christian family. Confess sins to a priest is something that was not a universal practice and discussed in the Early Church.
Jesus himself was able to heal the sick not only physically but also spiritually disease. Christ had the power to forgive sins (see Matthew 9:1-8, Mark 2:5-12).
Spent in power to forgive sins in his name to his Apostles.
"Amen, I say unto you, which bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Again, I tell you that if two of you agree on earth about anything for which to pray, was granted by my Father in heaven. " (Matthew 18:18-19)
"Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I sent him. "And when he had said this, breathed on them and told them:" Receive the Holy Spirit. Who forgives sins are forgiven, whose sins you retain are retained. " (John 20:21-23)
Jesus entrusted his Church with the power to forgive sins through this wonderful sacrament. The priest is acting in persona Christi (in the person of Christ) in the confessional, but it is our Lord who forgives our sins. The priest grants absolution (sets us free from our sins), using the power Jesus entrusted to his Church. It is through Christ, however, that our sins are forgiven.
No, Jesus' death eliminated the need for an intermediary, you can now go directly to God.
The Catholic Church wants you to believe to justify their existence. Who is to say, the priest who is confessing that it is a worse sinner than you?
tant to keep you in control if not ……….. not so …………… and yes you are right you can talk directly to God …… u cannot believe u have …. but then they want to control and adoration so u wont know and understand God.
It is not important,
In fact, even based on the Bible
Where in the Bible is the dose that mean you need to confess to a preist
That is one reason why the Protestants broke away from Catholicism in 1519.
mainly elderly people do before you die for that hope will be in heaven just stupid if u ask me Catholic and improve
