Why so many people think Catholics Worship Mary? And the Saints? As worshipers of idols?

Seriosuly bugs me. im a catholic and people seem to think that we are idol worshipers who bow to the saints and statues.
But no, we ask them to pray for us, is not the same as praying with them …
not worship Mary, which I invite you to basically talk to God for us.
  fellow Catholics, Am I right?

You are 100% correct. Noncatholics Many believe the worst because they do not know any better, they are misinformed and do not bother to educate themselves about Catholicism. And Catholics who actively go about the attacks and the dissemination of falsehoods will have to answer for the sins of false pride and harmful.

  2. Bubblewr says:

I know I will not worship or any of the saints. But I grew up Catholic, and I saw many people kneeling in front of the statues, standing in front of the statues or praying, lighting candles or saying the rosary. Many believe that only with a picture or statue of a saint in your home will bring favorable / lucky (for lack of a better word).
Perhaps that is the behavior that people idolitry idea.

It is a distinction without a difference.
Mary and the saints are immortal, blessed beings who reside in heaven and speak directly to God? Sounds like a god subsidiary anthropological by any reasonable definition. It's just a desire to remain formally "monotheistic" which requires that they are not expressly gods.

  4. keithhol says:

Well considering the first and second commandment prohibits this anyway .. Yes .. you are right.
Ask them to pray for you is as bad as the prayer for them. They are dead. They can not hear you.
Only prayers to God should be. God is the only one who can forgive sins. One must go through Christ to reach God.
The dead if they are saints or not can not help you in prayers.
Mary even found the need to have Christ as their savior.
To give Mary that is going against the first two commandments.
But I can not say anything. My church has done the same.

  5. Nolan Void says:

there is nothing wrong with asking the saints to pray for you. My grandmother is a saint too. The most obedient to God who is closer, probably, I guess it's the reasoning behind people having copies pray for you.
although it is probably a waste of time because they can communicate directly w / God and it is a sin to waste time? probably

Melanie, people gather outside a church and make a determination on the basis of misunderstandings. appears to be a human being, because the Americans do the same for other cultures.
What is worse is that instead of trying to learn more, we continue to build arguments and defenses that denigrates or further alienate others.
Another thing I find strange is that so many "born-again Christians," of which I am, I think the Catholic church is a sect that broke away from Christianity rather than the oldest form of Christianity that all other religions left. is an enigma.
very few non-Christians for Bible reading in the reference collection of Paul to pray with those who have fallen asleep. who think that reference is to the rear seat in place of the revered Baptist souls who have died.
People have to read the Bible and other religions DOCTRINES STUDY BEFORE MAKING JUDGMENTS, LEST YE BE JUDGE ALSO!
      apologies for the screams ….

  8. C says:

It does not bother me when they know better, but when they know better and chose to carry false wittiness against us anyway, I feel sad for them.
I mean that is one of the 10 commandments.
Peace be with you, and pray for them.

  9. Barabas says:

That is a Protestant thing, not an atheist. Talk to your fellow Christians. The demonizing destroy. I think every time we met the Baptist Catholic feels they are closer to God than the devil.

  10. Catholic @ Heart says:

Yes you are right! NO Worship Idols and Saints! Other religions have been preaching this long before I was born and I am old enough to remember when Jesus was a child … just kidding. My mother is a conversion of the church and Penticostal that she was taught as a child. She is Catholic and is now understood that asking a saint or Mary to pray with you is not worshiping them. The Bible says that two or more are gathered … Well, if you're just asking for someone else is late to join you in prayer a kind of cult? I say NO!

  11. Marty says:

What more is expected of you stupid uniformed cultists intolerant Protestant,
