Why the Catholic Church Di Maria was always a virgin?

In view of what is said in Matthew 13:53-56, how can the Catholic Church say Mary was always a virgin?
This is what it says Matthew 13:53-56 (Now when Jesus had finished these illustrations was there throughout the country. 54 And after entering its territory began teaching in their synagogue, so that was surprising and says: "Where did this man get this wisdom and these mighty works? 55 Is not this the carpenter's son? Is not his mother called Mary, and his brothers James and Joseph and Simon and Judas? 56 his sisters, not all are with us Where, then, that this man get all these things?)

  1. Mr. John says:

Not based on the Bible, but on tradition.

  2. clusium1… says:

Although it is unlikely that Mary remained a virgin and never gave birth to more children. We also know that Joseph had other children from a previous marriage. Jesus had step-siblings and / or sisters. And cousins were also referred to as brothers and sisters. And someone, please let me know if I'm wrong, but do not know of any Bible verses that confirm the names of the sons of Mary gave birth after Jesus. These are just a couple of reasons why it was always assumed virgin.

  3. wylde95 A.R.T. says:

No one bothers to mention that this would also Joseph perpetual virgin, either as an asset or an adulterer.
The Roman Catholic Church is not supported in Scripture with all its beliefs, but keep in mind the tradition of the church also was inspired.
(I'm not Roman Catholic, nor do I believe that Mary was a perpetual virgin).

  4. Calvin says:

Although many Catholics hold to the virgin forever the doctrine of his church, it's generally considered fair church tradition. There are some Catholics who die hard attempt to say that these were his "spiritual brothers and sisters" to hold to the doctrine virgin forever. Ignorance is bliss.

  5. Shar B says:

There is a very simple explanation in the original Greek, the word sometimes translated as "brothers" can also include any male member of the family as a cousin.
Even Martin Luther, who personally translated the entire Bible from the original Hebrew and Greek, which was held the perpetual virginity of Mary as a doctrine of Scripture.

  6. john w says:

The same word 'brother' and Adelphe can mean 'on'. This is as it should be used in the Book of Tobit, written not long before, when he told Sarah to marry a Adelphe, which by Jewish law can not be a brother.
But the great St. Jerome, recognized by most Protestants as the greatest scholars of the Bible is emphatic

  7. St_Biolo says:

I think that is all being paranoid and ill-tempered
this is the Virgin Mary was seen as we are talking about it after his ascension into heaven = pure virgin ….
Why choose to say that the history obtained directly from the heavens, Jesus? It may be true, or maybe just a figure of speech, notwithstanding the importance of purity

  8. Xplore says:

Whatever. I think that the word originally meant an unmarried girl or woman.

  9. Girls Just Wanna have Fun says:

because the Catholic Church has to say what he wanted for 1500, since the control that can and can not read.

  10. Ether says:

For in the Gospel according to John, Chapter 19, while Christ was dying on the cross, He gave His Virgin to San Juan of care.
This meant that there were no other children.

  11. clusium1 says:

there are no words for cousin in the Hebrew language.

  12. Catholic Defender says:

He said: This door should remain closed, not to be opened for any person to enter it, as Jehovah, the God of Israel has entered by it which shall remain closed. (Ezekiel 44:2)
Ezekiel prophesies that no one passing through the gateway through which the Lord entered the world. This is a prophecy of the perpetual virginity of Mary. Mary remained a virgin before, during and after the birth of Jesus.
How was James, the brother of the Lord "(Matthew 13:55, Acts 15:13-21, 1 Cor. 15:7, Gal. 1:19) related to Jesus. All believers agree that is related, but nobody knows exactly how.
The chances are that James was as follows:
      1. A brother of Jesus, another Son of God born of the Virgin Mary. No one accepts my knowledge that God had another child of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
      2. A half brother of Jesus, a younger son of Joseph and Mary. Some Christians believe this, but the majority of Christians in particular those who are Catholic and Eastern Orthodox believe that Mary remained a virgin throughout her life.
      3. A stepbrother of Jesus, son of Joseph and a previous wife. Many Christians believe that Joseph had at least one previous marriage, which resulted in children.
      4. A stepbrother of Jesus, an adopted son of Joseph and Mary. Died when parents and their children are often raised in them as their own. An orphan adopted child is considered the brother of Jesus.
      5. A cousin of Jesus. The Aramaic language has no word for cousin. Aramaic frequently uses the word "AHA", which translates into Greek as "Adelphe or English as a brother for cousin.
      6. A companion of Jesus. This is a remote possibility. Adelphe Greek uses the same it does in English "a band of brothers."
Possibilities 1 and 2, obviously run counter to Catholic beliefs.
The Catholic Church prefers to 5, but 3, 4 and 6 did not go against the doctrine.
      Another point: John 19:26-27 says:
When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple whom he loved it, told his mother, "Woman, behold your son." Then he said to the disciple: "Behold your mother." And from that hour the disciple (John) took her to his house.
This Jesus is the apostle John entrust the care of the Blessed Virgin Mary, which by Jewish law and tradition would be without support after his only son's death.
This threat of loss of support to Mary also reinforces the logic of Jesus' brothers and sisters "were not the natural children of Mary, who should have intervened to take care of it.
      With love in Christ.

  13. imacatho says:

Mt 13:53-56 no evidence that Mary had other children besides Jesus.
The word "brothers" and "sisters" have very broad meanings in the Bible. Used dozens of times in the Bible to describe the relationships between people who clearly are not brothers.
When the angel Gabriel announced to Mary that she conceived and bear a child, she was engaged to be married.
Any other dedicated women in this situation, which could mean means that Gabriel later have sex with his soon-to-be husband - and conceive a child that way.
But that's not what Mary said.
Asked the angel how this could happen, since she was a virgin.
No woman - a dedicated wife - would have to ask that question. Unless, of course, had taken a vow of lifetime virginity.
Also, as Jesus hung on the cross, entrusted the care of his mother to the disciple John - who was not one of the four "brothers" mentioned in the Gospels.
If Jesus really had brothers in the sense of brothers who have not entrusted the care of his own mother to someone - like John - to be outside the family. That simply never happened.
Nobody in the Bible, with the exception of Jesus, is identified as a "son of Mary," and nobody at all is identified as one of his daughters.
Thus, in the belief that Mary had other children besides Jesus is totally non-biblical.

Well, like all churches their misunderstanding perhaps, but are not 100% sure that he died a virgin.
I have read most of the words spoken by some of his saints, it seems that the address provided to itself as the mother of God. She never mentioned that she died a virgin in her appearance.
This is a detail that was used against the Catholic Church is not an important detail. I also have the impression that Protestants do not bother searching the history of the Catholic church and are not interested in words that were spoken to me of the holy Mary.

  15. michelle says:

This is one of the things that gets lost in translation: P. I will include an article that goes into more detail on the subject, but when I first read the line 'did not know until they know …', it involves a sexual relationship, I assumed Mary was a virgin to the point the birth of Jesus and Joseph was just after the game: p.
While there is nothing wrong with the literal interpretation of the Greek said that Mary never slept with anyone after the birth of Christ, I believe that the Church had more to lose by admitting the issue of chastity. Before the reform, the Catholic Church and the values espoused a fundamentalist literal interpretation of the Bible. Admitting the possibility of an error in the original Greek would be admitting a problem in a divinely inspired book that was a big problem if you are asking an entire nation based on their religion in a wrong book.
Today, the Catholic Church and Christianity more than others with a less fundamentalist, more interpretive view of things. Or if Mary gave birth to other children after Jesus is a fact quite irrelevant, since the point of the story is that Jesus himself is the result of immaculate conception. Whether or not she remained a virgin is only important on the grounds of sexual morality. The Catholic Church has always been something to avoid sex and defended chastity (When John Milton implicitly Adam and Eve could have sex in a way that was not sin in Paradise Lost, the Church rejected the idea), to Mary as benefits ideal chaste virgin, but is not required to be maintained, because there is no precedent.
As many have said, the Virgin is essentially a traditional belief now, as the physical manifestation of Satan, Catholics are left to interpret on their own.

  16. Edward F says:

Given the history of that time, etc.
If Mary and Joseph never together, never had children .. LOCAL Jewish rabbi and 15 grandmothers who had been her home to ask what is the issue of children not more? Only 1 child, something is wrong! Need to do this or eat chicken soup, etc. .. All young children are expected to …
The angel told Joseph not to know his wife until after the child is born … The angel did not say never touch each other … that would be contrary to God's marriage …
The perpetual virgin, and all the history in relation to Mary is just fiction and embarrassing … He was a ship, as Joesph …
Was chosen and blessed of God. She was a good Jewish mother and wife of the line of David as was Joseph …. Were a normal couple with children who have raised the son of God, while he was here, in earthly form.
And the other miracle of birth is recorded before Christ was born, all children born to infertile women … after the child was born of these women had many children ..
Anything else is simply manufactured greatness that is against the Bible …

"James and Joseph and Simon and Judas" is not the blood of his brother. They were the followers of Jesus. Like today. In my church, women are referred to as the sisters and the men brothers. In as the Catholic Church, refers to the nuns as the sister, "so and so", but that does not mean I'm related to them. I called the priest father that does not mean it's my dad. Kapish.
I have a question for you, a little common sense here, do you honestly believe that Joseph and Mary did not have sex ?????
An older man with a young wife, are we going?
As a Christian, I can say that Mary was the Virgin Mary, because we honor the fact that she was pure when she gave birth to Jesus. It is a way to honor her.
