Many times we ask forgiveness but let off the hook almost as fast as God does. The priest is there to make sure to keep this in mind and do not take over our sins that God has for them.   Of course it must be crazy! I could not possibly have been the biblical readings and mass are not based on the Bible and have nothing to do with the Bible.
