I was homeless for over 3 years. The Catholic Church gave me food and shelter. Most of the fundamentalist sermons and gave me a false reading material. Peace be with you anyway.

There are ways to help people, and people preaching invagelized people. In yahoo answers because this simple way to answer the question. Provide information, giving everyone the truth you need. We are modern now, you have no idea what you mean you only see on the outside, but you know things you do in private to help others ………….. ….

    Pastor B says it all.
The Pope's personal life is simplicity, as was John Paul the second. The outward 'show' of buildings and clothing is traditional, to the glory of God and a way of 'lifting' the glory for the Christian. Why not sell your house if you have one and give to the poor?
Remember, the disciples said that a waste of money that was when the woman poured expensive ointment on Jesus' head. They thought it would have been better spent on the poor. Jesus said the poor will always be with us, but he did not. If the buildings and churches were pulled doen and the money given to the poor, it would be like a drop in the ocean and we must remain poor. Poverty is caused by many reasons.

While not intended to defend or to provoke an argument is made that the Church of England is the largest landowner in the United Kingdom and Queen is not exactly living in poverty is the head of the Church. I remember how Jesus lived his life in poverty. I call this way many of us are willing to give away all our possesions to follow. It is easy to say that I am a follower of Christ, but we are all in the first place to ourselves before criticizing others. I once saw a brilliant question. If you were charged with the crime of being a Christian would have sufficient evidence to convict you. It's worth thinking about.

I have a lot of questions about the Pope as you have. One that bothers me more than most is the fact they pray to the pope and he is allowed to change the Bible. That is a big problem for me! Yes Jesus was a simple man and not expect the money and jewels for his works. only gives the church to make God's work.

You can only follow Jesus if UR truly Born Again, otherwise Does'nt Count With God

  8. Alexandr says:

The Vatican's annual budget is approximately the size of the Archdiocese of Chicago. The funds are on hand for the maintenance of the Vatican itself, in part by missionaries and other jobs around the world. Not bad for an organization with millions of members. If someone thinks that the Vatican is fabulously wealthy, perhaps asking a bit of proof is not out of line. If someone is a conspiracy theorist, no amount of argument will work. You can give the person a certified copy of all the secrets of the Vatican's financial records, and had to be said that are untrue … I suppose we could ask why the Vatican has trouble balancing its annual budget rather small. The wealth of the Church is almost entirely the church buildings, hospitals, schools and missions, in addition to works of art. You could sell the artworks, but the product does not feed the poor of the world, even for a day. If the Vatican sold all their works of art, will be hundreds of millions of dollars - but only once. Then is gone, and that money does not go very far. (In the U.S. alone spend hundreds of billions of dollars each year on programs related to social welfare.) Second, the Popes are custodians, not owners. They have a responsibility to preserve these [legacy / gift] art treasures for posterity, not to sell them off to private collections. Thirdly, these works are things of beauty, beauty and all relates to a beauty that is God. The Church knows that it can get closer to God in many ways, and one of them is through the arts.
Perhaps are not aware that there are hundreds of thousands of monks and Catholic nuns from around the world to take a vow of poverty? They own nothing personally, and shared houses, clothing and food are not extravagant (sometimes even a little). Surely you know that the late Mother Teresa of Calcutta was a Catholic and has thousands of other Sisters of Charity imitating around the world today. Perhaps you are not aware that the single largest private provider of money and goods to people in areas of drought, disaster, etc., is based in the U.S., "CRS" — And there are other similar Catholic organizations from around the world. No entity, public or private, in the history of mankind, which has done so much for those in need (regardless of race or religion) as the Catholic Church has done and continues doing. Much of the sacrifices they are encouraged and even mandated by the Vatican itself has heard falsely accused of accumulating wealth.

For one of the treasure that no Vatican, stop reading the di Vinci Code, and as St. John Vianney, who wore simple clothes and had holes in their shoes, "At the door of the Catholic Church stops throughout poverty and I only accept the best for God. " How can God, not the simple. Look at the temple of David was extravagant. Hmmmm, sounds like the King David was the Vatican to pay more attention to the expected place of worship, did not want to give the best to their king, King of the Universe. The Church today has very little money, in fact, may be just above the redline on the landscape due to the allegations, the case, sadly, and false, which is the common case. The only treasure that the Church has and will have the Eucharist. No luxuriy in the office of the papacy. Think its a 78 years old who have to worry about 3 billion Christians, 2 billion, we do not believe that you are the Vicar of Christ on earth due to some lunitic in the 1500s, most of the one billion Catholics do not I do not know what the papacy is, or what they consist of people and all the time because they are lazy to go pick up a dang book.

This is a very good question
There is a big difference in a religion and a relationship with Jesus, a relationship that is created to have all your calls.
Many religious movements that began to be fully God, then suddenly it became more and more to the man and what a man wants and desires.
I pray this will never happen to me and my walk in Christ Jesus, for His glory and His glory is only his word and actions, no one should succeed or lead to fame for himself.

  11. Carl H says:

you see the Pope and Vatican and the church are human mistakes, and there have been times when the Chuch has been corrupted, probably because of the potato. But the Pope could live in that wealth, because the love of people and objects to the pope all the time.

  12. blackdra says:

    Good question.
I am a Christian, and belong to a non-denominational church. God does not care what our church looks like construction. He is not in the building of the Church, but in every heart of man.
Church personnel seconds in my church have jobs, just to make ends meet. Our church gives 30% of their tithes and offerings of distance to help the poor, the elderly, needy, abused children, homeless.
However, not only point the finger at the Catholic Church. Many denominations do, and I am sad to say, but the believers not to look, and judge what is Christianity through them.
I would like to return your attention to our small churches.
Woulf They then get a true understanding of TRUE Christianity.

  13. Dianne C says:

The Vatican, with all its wealth and glory, is very symbolic, because what is inside. The building was built a year ago and many, obviously, it would be impossible to recreate something of that magnitude today, but today is a place that is at the heart of the Catholic tradition and in the center of what was one of the most great empires. think when it was built and built. As … not leave the religion because of people lead lifestyles. We do not live in Israel 2000 years ago with Jesus. times have changed and adapted to their environment peolple. it doesn't take away from their beliefs

  14. Estate Italiana says:

I totally agree with you. What makes it so holy to have to be treated like a king?

  15. Gemma says:

because the church has stained the name of Jesus, and became a punishment from God the strength to control the population. have used violence and lies to spread their control over much of the world, and with the threat of hell for disobedience, which have a much deeper hold than any other system of justice in the world.
"Follow me, believe me, or burn, and ripped limb from limb repeatedly for eternity"
and somehow, someone will report me for this honest answer. Pity that only his soul, to bow to the abominations of the Church is hell. fear of a God who has given us a lot, like if you play in our daily lives, although there is much great and important events in this universe for him to observe that the life of human beings.
the church is the largest of large companies in the world, has its own country! Have more to say in the world more than any other government body to act, and yet we infallibility, as the fear itself.
This goes for the radicals of any religion, and is so bad, and just as violent as the Catholic church in the past. However, since we know nothing of our own crimes, which make them into monsters (I'm not denying that their ways are wrong, simply stating that the church would call quite simply, was and remains as corrupt.)
money and power are all that is important for the church at the highest levels. this does not mean that every Christian and every priest is bad, are simply deluded.

because the church has little to do with Jesus, his decision on all peoples and economic wealth of the masses of people who believe in a false idology because they fear death and the church that promises to be a better place regular exchange brainwashing and money taken. his illness! Jesus was an ordinary man can do much, but a few businessmen and interested parties can deal with the church is a business that could use their life for their own purposes.

  18. ask the aliens! says:

jewelry / statutes / paintings etc are there for good reason, to inspire wonder and beauty when you are praying to God, believers give the impression that there is a real organization (the Vatican) that can draw when they do not understand faith or its teachings, no one will listen to the Pope if hes talking about a cardboard shack .. Pope doesn't live in luxury, though it may seem to be mounted on a BMW (I think) we .. cannot world leaders in a tour of the buick .. be reasonable ..

When I was in France, and saw the cathedrals pleasnant I did not even lift his head to look at the beautiful decorations and gold, my parents were not showing me the beautiful work of art

  20. think_of says:

This is not the case for all denominations. Just look at the Southern Baptists, for example. They have a few large quiet "mega' churches with multi-million dollar budget. And they do a tremendous job throughout the world. But most of their churches (about 75%) are so poor that they can not financially support a pastor. So we must work a secular job to survive. Most Baptist pastors have an M. Div degree (thats a professional degree), and work for less than minimum wage. I know there are others too, I just happen to know a little about the Baptist.

I agree .. but to say that Jesus estruendo give you these things? I think that somehow just keep their promises. I want to be a follower as well?

  24. revelc says:

Did you know that all schools receive a subsidy from the council to renovate schools there, and the council to pay a lot of Catholic schools still only a quarter of the amount the payment CHURCH AND fundraising is done pay for the renovation, so get your facts right where the hell do you think the money is going? I used to work for a Catholic (and one of our friends who are top of the support of Catholics) and was used to feed the homeless every day with a good hot meal and a great pot of tea donations of clothing woven linen shirts socks shoes jackets jumpers, is given to all homeless, ask any homeless person in the Catholic sisters (nuns) how good they were,

  25. lynno says:

In fact, good question. and why did the good Christians do not get rid of him …. we need a little revolution here!

  26. Stef says:

Essentially, Christians are those who believe in the Holy Trinity - the Father, the Holy Spirit, Jesus Christ as the Son of God. This definition coincides with Catholicism.

I think you can shake a Hornets nest with this my dear, but your entitled to it. I think every religion bends the rules to suit their own beliefs.

  30. Thomas Paine says:

Did you know that the Vatican is only guaranteed for 1 pound. If you burned today can not be reconstructed. But I bet millions of people volunteer to rebuild at all. All that the Pope is because the people gave the Vatican.

  31. norielor says:

Catholicism is the pollution, twisted cult of Jesus that has been used as an excuse to kill, cheat and swindle the wealth and personal gain. Prostitutes with any movement that is the land and the promise of money, for example the Nazis. Also, pressing the followers with lies and ridiculous claims that they can not get to heaven, but by the Catholic church. That wealth is an affront, especially given much of it was acquired by immoral means. Follow Christ, not an institution made by man.
