What is the best way to teach a four years old The Our Father and Hail Mary?
My son is turning four this October and my husband is deploying
Iraq for the second time this December. We are moving back to
California during the deployment that my son finished his
preschool years in a Catholic preschool. One of the requirements for
"graduation" is to learn the Our Father and Hail Mary.
Although my husband and I are Catholics, I have not thought about
the teaching of these sentences him so young. Does anyone know a good way
to help me to start teaching him? I do not want to start school and
behind other students.
- What religions say the Our Father and Hail Mary and the churches of high pressure does not?
- How can I reach out to students and teach them to love their Catholicity?
- Why Catholics Pray the Rosary "Hail Mary Mother of God" 10 times and only one "Our Father"?
- Why not say the Hail Mary, Protestants have no meaning.
- What is a Hail Mary?

Try to find these prayers with music. The Lord's Prayer should be relatively easy, the Ave Maria can be a bit more difficult. It is easier to learn to sing a song and then recite verses, especially for a period of four years of age. It also helps adults too. I easily learned the books of the Bible and the Divine Mercy Chaplet when I heard the music.
On a personal note, I think the great love that your son to teach him how to pray to our Father and our Holy Mother. The Bible says to train a child in the way they should go so when he is not greater than away from it.
God bless you and your beautiful family.
A CD played 24 / 7 in mid-size could work.
Listen to all the people who are sincerely trying to give good advice …. do it by repetition. Just saying a couple of times a day in the car, at bedtime, always, and before you know it will be done pat!
My grandchildren have been known more than a dozen of blessings and prayers in Hebrew, as about 2 1 / 2 each! Oh, and for the naysayers, they know what each one means in English. Now they are 3, 5 and 11 - the age of 11 is proficient in Hebrew reading and can really sing and all the blessings. Therefore, just take it and while memorization, can, in simple language, tell what they mean for you. Good luck!
Only recite it every day. That way they learn the alphabet.
(I'm an atheist and I think that poor education that respond to this embarrassing and annoying)
If your child hears you (and your husband when he's not deployed) praying these prayers every day, going to pick them at any time. At this age, they learn very fast! After that take a while, try to say (say), "Our Father, who art in …" and pause to reflect that the "sky." If you do, then you can say all that just as prayer and to help you learn. The key is to do every day, and more or less the same time, it became something he looked forward to doing with you.
Another way is to sit with you while you say a decade of the rosary - you can get a child to hold one for him, too.
Let soon finish school first and then hit him with the hammer religious!
come in children are too easily lied to anything you say is gold for them. achieve.
I would skip the Hail Mary thing.
Teach children about God, not saints. Teach children that God loves no matter what. If they can understand that, then you have done your job.
Why teach a child to memorize a prayer prayer.Tell what is in your heart!
God knows your child's heart when he said a prayer for the safety of his father as head in a dangerous place.
When your child really wants something, you have to memorize what is going to say that only calls!
This is how we must pray to God.
do not listen to those who say their 4 years of age and understand that the abuse often is … when I was 4 or 5 I knew that prayer is a way of speaking with God (and I knew he was too) and I actually asked my mom to teach me the prayers. She read and write it down for me to pray with her .. I knew how to read at that age, I do not know if that is the case of his son, but to recite the prayer with your child every day and night to help
Because it is not in the Bible I do not consider teaching him. It is a tradition of men, not a mandate from God. I am sure there are some good Christian schools in California. I hope you can find a good one. I hope the link below will help shed light on this. http://www.bible.ca/cath-overview-false- …
my daughter has said that the prayers as the glory, Hail Mary, our father with his children the youngest is 2 now knows that the prayers,
If the teaching of four years old "If I die before you wake up" is generated from a healthy mind. Why should his four years of age have to worry about dying? How sick is that?
Repeat. However, it is wise to teach him to speak his own thoughts to God.
I agree with Vivi ….. this is how I learned to my children and how to learn …. by short phrases and repetition YOU. There's a lot of good answers here, as always, several against.
use it in a comforting ritual situation. co say when he gets hurt, before kissing the booboo better and tell all the others in her bed before bedtime story. You can also say a prayer with him by his father to keep him safe. repetition is the key
To not do so at all. Do you honestly think a 4 years old, the sentence means? Teach him to trust himself. You will be doing a much bigger favor.
Why not show your four years of age, how much love and care about him?
That is to understand and remember. If that is what religion really is, children might be less likely to rebel against him at an older age.
My parents are Catholic. They do not fail me in the teaching of Catholic religion. But they did not walk to school for me, love me and have confidence in who I am. I had to learn on my own. That made my life much more difficult and a time which made me hostile toward the Catholic religion. I know better now and I have forgiven my parents, who only did what he knew best.
My hope is that you can do better than they did.
I want out of school faster than you can say hailmary. Want a robot for a child or want to teach criteria?
He's too young to understand what it means, and will be for several years. I suggest you talk to the teacher and explain that you want your child to learn the sentence to be special and meaningful, not just memorize.
Want to brainwash children into believing a lie?
Frankly, if I knew where I lived, I call the child and family services to report child abuse.
That is what you are talking, after all …
I consider this as a CRIME.BUT TO ME …
My mom taught me to say in short phrases and I have with me at bedtime.
Eg:
Mom: Our father.
Me: Our father.
Mom: Who is in heaven.
Me: Who is in heaven
etc. ..
If they say they can not sleep, do so repeatedly may help them to sleep, as well as teach them their prayers.
Learning and memory of learning the alphabet. Although I personally do not force them to learn those.
yes I agree with him say that every night until you know what memory
Say prayers with them every day
Begin by saying that only with your child every day, will soon learn all the words. To pick on things very quickly, Minas young love and my prayer Our father was singing in church at the top of his lungs when he was three.
practice of a line a week until he knows it and be sure to tell him she said it was most likely to enter heaven and erase all the sins he has committed and that we should stick
