Why do Catholics pray to Mother Mary …?

Why do Catholics pray to Mother Mary … When the Bible clearly says: Pray to me then any other man "Is it because shes a woman? Hmmm, I have ag / f that the Catholic, so I asked him why he prays to Mary. He said that Mother Mary, because it is more forgiving. Nevertheless, the Bible says, than any other man, God does not listen when a woman is praying and not the man who did everything? Christan'm not hitting Catholics simply confused about the idea of praying to a woman who could have been his mother or mine, and not the man that God says we should pray too.

Rom 15:30, "… help me by your prayers to God for me. "
Col 1:9, "This is why we have also been praying for you unceasingly."
1Thes 3:10, "Night and day they pray more and more …"
2Thes 1:11, "For this purpose we pray for you always."
2Thes 3:1, "In conclusion, brothers, pray for us …"
Jam 5:16 "… and pray for one another can be saved. "
Rev 8:3-4 "… they can offer with the prayers of all the saints … "
The Bible is asking you to pray for one another. Have you ever asked someone to pray for you? Have you ever told someone to pray for them? Why, then, when Mary's name is, is not calling her? She was not a created being as the rest of us? Why do we ask everyone to pray for us, but we can not ask that of Mary? Are not the reason for your child to listen to it and grant their requests?
Turned water into wine at Cana Mary only made one comment, "They have no wine," Jn 2:3. He was subjected to it in Luke 2.51, and no doubt for many years until he began his ministry at age 30. He listens to it now as it did then. She must have a lot more influence with him than any of us because she is his mother. Now let's see if Catholics "pray" to Mary.
Have you ever heard the words of the Marian prayer most widely used of all, the Hail Mary?
*** "Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee." *** This is nothing more than the greeting of Gabriel in Luke 1:28.
*** "Blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb (Jesus)." *** This is the greeting of Elizabeth to Mary in Luke 1:42.
*** "Holy Mary, Mother of God." *** It is a holy saint who makes her, and she is the Mother of God, because Elizabeth called the 'Mother of Our Lord "in Luke 1:43. The original Hebrew for God is used: Adoni, which means God.
Also if you take Jn 1:1 "… and the Word was God ", and add to Jn 1:14," … and the Word was made flesh, God became flesh, and that was his mother? Mary!
*** "Pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death, amen." ***
This is just a request for Mary to pray for U.S., as in the Bible verses presented. Is' pray to 'Mary, or are we just asking to pray for us? http://home.inreach.com/bstanley/marypr ….
The clear line between fundamentalism and historic Christianity, when it comes to devotion to Mary, is the diversity of perspectives on the delivery "to Jesus through Mary." Historic Christianity has never seen in isolation from Jesus and Mary has found the doctrine and devotion to Mary as the safest, most secure and fast way for real and lasting commitment to Christ. The fundamentalists argue that "do not need Mary to go to Jesus and who prefer to go directly to Jesus.
This response is a misinterpretation of traditional education. All Christians can and should pray directly to Jesus. But no one actually "go" Jesus "alone." We all carry with us through some individual or group when we go to Jesus. The fundamentalist approach him with an image of a Calvinist God who has predestined the majority of mankind to damnation Dispensationalist or an image of a God who operates through various covenants and dispensations with Israel and established the church. Fe charismatic movement have their own health and wealth of the god concept. Nobody goes to Jesus "alone." Come with various images of God and salvation. If we go to Jesus through Mary to the right image, the historic picture, the image given by God.
When we speak of going "to Jesus through Mary" not suggesting that the role of Mary is "enter" to Jesus. We are talking about growing deeper in our life in Jesus and Mary through assistance. With Mary as our model, mentor and guide to become the kind of Christian God wants us to be. With and through Mary to become more and more like Jesus. Thus, "through Mary" does not mean that it works like a door opening of "go-between." This actually means that she is acting as our mother trying to make us more like her divine Son. We are simply doing what Jesus in John 19 and what the book of Revelation teaches when he says that those who "keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ" are "seeds". (Revelation 12:17). Http: / / http://www.mariology.com/content/view/9/

. It's like this. Every religion believes in a different way or something that the other religion. Nobody knows whether they are right if that is what I think is fine but if someone wants to pray to Mother Mary then leave. Why all the business that believes in God? I am an ex-Catholic. To be honest I do not know what religion I am? I think they all have their peculiarities. But whatever religion they choose, it's not a business but my own

  3. harperta says:

Catholics, especially women and especially those of a Latin or Celtic descent, tend to pray to Mary, as they say in the Catholic tradition is an "intercessor between God and man." As she has a very special place in the hierarchy of heaven, where she is a "perfect woman", "without sin" and "Mother of God / Jesus", many Catholics believe they can " intercede with her son on behalf of those who pray to her. In the Catholic tradition that has been documented at least 3 times and promised special blessings to those who invoke his name. (Fatima, Lourdes and Guadalupe)

  4. Dannicus rising says:

not exactly Mary Mary to pray to ask to pray for them. Catholics see it that way, all people who are alive in Christ. Part of the body of Christ. So when a person is a part of the body of Christ (church), then they are living forever as part of that body.
As in a church prayer meetings or asking others to pray for them or someone else is the same when Mary asked for Catholics to pray for them.

  5. Pray for the Redskins says:

Some of these other answers are wrong so I'm not sure where to start.
Mary is not "the" intercessor between God and man. I do not know where that came from. We Catholics believe that you can ask any person or saint here on earth to pray for you. Mary is a saint. He had to be pure. Why God Jesus in the world through an unholy vessel? Did not. Mary was a pure and holy. She is in heaven. We ask you to pray for us just as any saint in heaven or person here on earth. Catholics DO NOT have to ask the saints to pray for them. It is a personal choice.
I also think that your girlfriend is not the most knowledgeable when it comes to Catholicism. Mary does not grant the pardon. Only God can forgive. She must know this.

  6. sparki77 says:

I realize that you do not cite chapter and verse from the Bible that says: "Pray for me that no man …"
That statement is not in the Bible. Not anywhere.
Praying means "ask." There is nothing in the Bible that forbids us to ask another Christian to pray with us and for us. In fact, we are told one another to share the burden and pray for one another.
His g / f, which says that prays to Mary, because Mary is forgiveness is farther from the base and uneducated in Catholic theology. She needs training. Mary does not forgive. All Mary is not direct us to do what Jesus tells us to do and to encourage us to trust in Christ. Only Christ can offer absolution of our sins.
John 2 tells us that Jesus did not respond to requests for Mary, Mary, but he always tells us to do what Jesus asks of us.

  7. Right Winger says:

You are a stupid idiot like most of the Protestants. We asked them to pray on our behalf. It's like asking a family member to pray for a safe trip for you before you travel. Just as a child loves his mother, Jesus loves his mother Mary, who is expected to love Mary as a mother in the same way that Jesus does.

  8. BOC says:

Catholics claim to be Christians, but are far from it. No! I'm not giving Catholics, just the facts. The reason for the reform is that the Catholics led to the apostasy of Christianity that even their own priests were offended by it. So God was lifted a few men of God to bring truth to light again. Luther, Calvin, Tyndale, and such. You are right to pray only through Jesus.
      God be with you

  9. Catholic Mythbuster says:

We pray in the sense of "ask." We are asking Mary to pray for us, as we ask the saints to pray for us, like any of us could ask a friend or family member to pray for us.

  10. Danny H C.A.B. says:

We pray with her and ask her to pray for us. It is a practice of intercessory prayer, asking others to pray to God for us in our name. We do this because we believe in a communion of saints. We believe that all people on earth and in heaven, they are our brothers and sisters, that is why we pray for one another. We consider it a family affair, with all the prayers of the heavens and the earth coming to God in one voice.
Mary does not and can not forgive sins. Your friend may be sincere, just a little misinformed. Only God can forgive sins.
I hope this helps. God bless.

  11. Karenita EWTN ((Allecat)) says:

I think your g / f is wrong. ask Mary and the saints to pray to God for us as we pray to God for our needs. i can not remember where is that I know, but somewhere in the Bible that says the heavens asking to pray for us on Earth is not bad, and even encouraged.

  12. BLI says:

You're right in everything you say. The Bible says: "No one comes to the Father except through me." And Jesus said that. He is the only way - the saints who have died can not do their prayers of intercession, either … Hebrews is about how Jesus is the only acceptable High Priest of God etc.
He comes before everything else. And Jesus said whatever you ask in my name … which will take place in … yes … that's the deal .. already know … and Catholicism is not in line with the true Word of God, is false doctrine.

  13. Coup De Grâce says:

She is held in higher esteem than any other woman who had been born, as was his heart that led our Lord.
She is so close to Jesus, Catholics and ask for their intercession on our behalf's.

  14. starryey says:

Mary is the way the Old Roman Catholic Church made the earth and moon goddesses of age in a Catholic figure.

  15. clusium1 says:

No, the Bible says that "the worship of other gods not me."
We pray to Mary for her to pray to her Son for me.

  16. HAND says:

We ask Mary pray for us. Same as you do when seeking a Christian friend to pray for you.

  17. Graziall says:

    raised Jesus Christ our Savior.

  18. OPM says:

I am not Catholic, but is clearly an ancient practice. Mary, after the Reformation, held a unique place in Christian theology. Indeed, it has run into controversy over the Martin Luther probably would have given a rosary and told him to use to pray. Were children of the Reformation which, when taken literally sola scriptura, fought against the practice.
The reason for that has to do with the Gospel of Luke, Revelations and the Gospel of John. Catholics do not have the Bible, apart form the "evidence", as do Protestants. They wonder what was handed down by the apostles. Things are dictated by the apostles bible, stories not included in the Bible, songs, services, a handbook for the clergy (the Didache, which was left out of the Bible because it is not for general use), artwork (Lucas painted), the beliefs and practices. It is the task of the Catholic bishops and Orthodox to deliver it to each generation.
Mary in the Gospel of Luke is addressed by the use of the word angel kecharitomene, the past perfect participle of charitoo. About the angel said: "Hail, O full of grace!" This is not true because it looks like a superlative in English or a title. It would be like calling Arnold Schwarzenegger "Mr. Universe ", at the title, but in such a way (as in the past is the perfect way) means that the universe was God from conception. Many of the ancient writings refer to Mary as the New Eve. Like Eve, Lucas's statement makes sense only if Mary were always perfectly sinless. Unlike Eve, she does not then the sin, at least if the disclosure is understood in the light of the Dormition / Assumption of Mary and the Resurrection story.
The first miracle of John's Gospel is about the reign of Jesus. It is a very Jewish story. In societies of the Levant, the Queen was the mother of the King and not the wife. They are polygamous and that would have political consequences. The role of the Queen in Israel and the east coast was unusual. The Bible says children to glorify his mother and the word used is the same word to bring glory to God. Usually translates into English as Honor your mother, but that is in the sense of calling a judge "your honor." Solomon reread / Bathsheeba relationship stories and see what I mean.
Thus, the Kings may be forced to do something because of the law, treaty or of justice. Petitioners could come to the queen and the king would be released from their obligations to act to honor the request of the mother. In this case, Jesus was against the will of the Father, was not yet time to glorify the mother. It is a statement of the monarchy. As king, he could not put aside his obligation to wait. She absolves him of the obligation and it is free to act with mercy and in his full authority as ruler of the universe.
Finally, the Apocalypse has a symbolic story of a mother giving birth and defeat evil. In light of the Dormition of stories, this is a very powerful message. It is also clear that the future role of Jesus is to "judge the living and the dead." That goes from the merciful God on earth to judge a frightening revelation. If you accept the entire Bible, then you have to accept the advice of others to Jesus too. But it is a Jesus who is obligated to honor the wishes of his mother.
Revelations says that the prayers of the saints go directly to heaven, and indeed implies that the saints do not die and do not expect the resurrection as the rest, but they are there to sing praises to God and interceding on behalf of humanity.
Intercession is a powerful message in Catholicism. Consider that the man fell through the roof and cured. Ultimately, Jesus forgives his sins. But Jesus forgives through their faith, but the faith of those who downloaded it. He does not need faith, you just dropped by faith required. This meaning in Greek is often lost in English due to the way we use pronouns and verb to be. You may not have enough faith to move mountains, but the revelations involves the saints. Mary, of course, is unique among them.
It is also important that they are not praying to Mary, but by asking Mary to pray with and for them. Jesus in the story who pestered the judge until he was in, recommended as a model prayer. Catholic Father and get to annoy as many people, both on earth and triumphant in heaven to pray for them.
These sentences are very old. In which we have retained the services of James, Mark, Peter and Thomas all have intercessory prayer for the martyrs. These were from the beginning of martyrdom, so they were all people who knew her.
What we are witnessing is the first form of Christianity, how it is practiced in the beginning. Reform has separated nearly 5000 names in the United States, ignoring all the small independent churches are independent. The Catholic and Orthodox churches still practice the same services that you have seen in early Christianity. They have generally been shortened. The branch of the Roman Catholic Church, the Patriarchate of Rome, which uses an Easter Vigil has 13 readings of the Old Testament, Psalms 13, and then the New Testament. This mimics the first services.
It fell in the regular Sunday at a reading of the Old Testament, a psalm, a letter and a Gospel reading. Still, it remains the core of apostolic origin.

  19. Born-Again Catholic says:

Where exactly is that quote ( "Pray for me then any other man")? Sorry, but I have several translations of the Bible and not find it in one. It is also wrong. Jesus is fully God and fully man, not a human being and a divine hand.
As others have said here: To pray is to ask, and could mean a fervent appeal or petition of a person and God. (Example: Court petitions almost always contain a sentence reading: "The applicant submits that the Court grant the relief …" and nobody takes it to mean that the Court or the judge in that sense, it is God or is worshiped).
We ask Mary to pray with and for us in our name, as we ask others to do the same. Mary can not call on the phone to receive her sentence on the list, but because it is in heaven and God listens to prayer, I think that makes it possible to pray for us that when we ask. To insist otherwise is to put God in a box, limited by our own understanding and a narrow definition of what "prayer" is. Although prayer is certainly involved in the cult, the two terms mean the same thing.

  20. friendof says:

This is a big mistake in Catholicism. For example, Catholicism does Mary to be bigger than anyone else, when Matthew 11:11 says, "I tell you the truth: Among those born of women has not risen anyone greater than John the Baptist."
Moreover, the prayer to Mary was made to be omnipresent. If she can hear the whole world all the prayers anywhere in the same time, she is a god. However, we know that there is only 1 God.

  21. Cassidy :) says:

You are right, the Bible does say that only Him.But only to pray, you can not really say that a person who religion. They have been tought to pray for others who God.That 's kind of like them who come to perhaps a Methodist and saying "You can not pray to God is not right." It is clear that other religions are a few things wrong with our religion, but we can only ignore.
      :)

  22. hopeless says:

You are right, there is no Bible verses that tell us to pray to Mary. Catholics may take the writing out of context in relation to this, but I have never found a verse in the Bible tells us to apologize to Mary. Mary is more forgiving ????? Pure blasphemy, the Lord Jesus died for our sins. Mary gave birth to the Lord Jesus and raised him and saw him dying on the cross and stayed with the disciples after his crucifixion. That's all we know of Mary.

  23. peaceful light says:

because God really answers and help! even if the name Mary.
the reality is: isis-gaia-Hecate-Kannon-diana, etc …
