Slow PEOPLE ~! ~
Says in the Bible "No one comes to the Father except through me" this is in the words of Christ himself. You stated that "Catholics pray to Mary to intercede for them in Christ" Why do you need an advocate to go to the intercession of Christ is God?
Catholicism is a religion that I personally do not understand. In my opinion, is very contradictory.
Why is that so many symbolics in the church is beyond me, however, none of my business.
What I say is in reference to your question in the Bible does not give the Pope the power and credibility and the Catholic religion is not based on the Bible, however, that well-stated, is another good " organized religion "people seem to follow.
We all love the same God I do not understand why it has to be so difficult Freakin ~ you are yelling at the writer to get your point, and yet through all that has been able to make is that sarcasm and confusion on the topic to the table! Good job defending you!

After a lengthy discussion of an appropriate response, I decided to leave a happy madison quote voice my thoughts:

In conclusion:
Catholics do not pray to idols, nor worship Mary. Where the Bible insruct asking others to pray for you?
The Pope is not divine status. The Bible gives the Pope the power and credibility, see Matthew 16:18. not the case Petros / petra rebuttal, there was no difference in Koinè Greek.
Indulgences? you know this is 2008 right?
purgatory has nothing to do with babies, is the purification before heaven. you are thinking (if one can call it that) of limbo
again, people are not praying to the statue of what you're praying to a picture.
simple answer is no Catholics worship idols.
Remember that salvation comes from Christ, unless they believe they should also work actively to do good in the name of Christ instead of sitting at the computer making half baked claims about other Christians.

Do you really believe your religion is not based on paganism? I asked, even as Christians who believe that and told me that the first Christians did the pagans would be more attractive to convert, and to be able to practice their holidays (Christmas, for example. Even the most pastors agree that it is highly unlikely that the baby cows and sheep were born in the winter. It had been, especially in a desert where it gets so damn cold at night / in the winter).
IMO, all gods are false, so that Catholics are no more guilty than the rest of you.

Catholics DO NOT worship false gods. The Pope is the head of the Church. He is not a god, and worshiped him. Mary is the Mother of Christ, is venerated, not adored. Catholics pray to Mary to Christ to intercede for them.
They do not pray to idols. Saints are models for Catholics. Catholics also believe that the saints are in heaven and are praying for them. They, like Mary, are venerated, not adored.
You're right about the sale of indulgences. They were one of the causes of the Reformation. However, indulgences served a purpose. It encouraged Catholics to pray and do good works. These were seen as a sign of piety and faith and help them to enter heaven.
You are also right in Purgatory. Catholicism is a religion of age over 2000 years old. Thus religion evolves with society.
Catholics know that salvation comes from Jesus Christ. Why think otherwise?
Your comments list a lot of misconceptions. Maybe you need to do more research.
