No, no. Good question. I never understood why the "Virgin" was never loved …… it doesn't say anything in the Bible about worship .. or even that she remained a virgin. There were other children. Do not be gullible enough to believe non-Catholics "misconceptions about us. U.S. ask what we believe.
Catholics rarely pray in front of the statues in those days - and even if it is more common, not praying to the statue - because they were praying at a wall in the church because it not only became a wall in front of you .
Physical objects such as statues are not objects of worship or prayer in the Catholic faith. These aids in worship, which is perfectly in line with the Bible - Exodus 25 and 26, specifically.
Where do you get the idea that Catholics believe that Mary and Jesus did not die on the cross? As a lifelong Catholic, I have never taught anything like that.

Many Catholics and other Christians believe in the communion of saints, all saints are intimately related in the Body of Christ, a family. When it dies and goes to heaven, do not let this family.
Everyone in heaven or on their way to heaven are saints. You, me, my deceased grandmother, Mary, the mother of Jesus, and Mother Teresa.
As part of this family, you can ask your friends and family here on earth to pray for you. You can also ask the Blessed Virgin Mary, St. Andrew, or your deceased grandmother in heaven to pray for you.

I think it's due to tradition. They believe that if it has always been done this way, then you should be OK.
In the Bible, named Maria Isabel "blessed above all women," I think people used to justify this prayer for many.
But part of what was Mary responded, "My Savior." Mary needed a savior, like us, and she knew, and told all who are willing to listen.
From what I understand, Catholics pray to the Virgin Mary, because they believe she may be a messenger of God. a bit like talking to a dead and saying hello to a dead friend. I mean, why not communicate directly with God through Jesus Christ?
