Catholic priest to Lose Tax Status?

Modesto CA A Catholic priest told his parishioners, and indeed all Catholics that, if support Obama must confess that before taking communion.
Because these churches have signed an agreement with the government not to take sides in politics, and given that Obama is not pro abortion but pro choice, leaving the woman, not the government to decide.
Because we did not feel the need to honor their contractual integrity.
if the church loses its tax exempt status, and be treated like any other company in the United States?
What do you think the government should do?

All churches should have their tax exempt status removed. Look at the waste. Huge churches of millions of dollars. Not the poor and the sick did not help that involves clergy or congregations fancy dress?

  2. Michael B - Repeal Prop. 8! says:

I think the Catholic Church should lose its tax exempt status. For too long, it has interfered in each other and pushed into politics. With Prop 8 in California, for example, the church instructed its followers to vote to amend the Constitution to take away the civil rights of law-abiding, taxpayers. Whenever the church makes its way into politics, that screams bloody murder back and being criticized for his positions. If the Catholic church is going to create, promote and support the laws others must live by the Americans, who must not only accept criticism as anyone else who is in politics should lose their tax exempt status and the level of play.

Those who are and have been abusers of children, along with a higher level than preists covered up that should be in jail for life or worse.
I am not Catholic but I feel the same way about any man in the conduct of any one church denomination.
As far as abortion is legal murder.
Tax is not the issue. If you were in jail, not making enough money to pay taxes.

  4. Forest Faerie says:

All churches should lose their tax exempt status. They control millions (if not billions) of dollars and wield the power that goes with that.
Taxation is corrupt, but what is good for the goose should also be good for the look. If the whole world has an obligation to pay taxes, the church should be required to pay taxes too.

How do you intentionally miss the Pastors preached from the pulpit during last year in the same weekend in favor of or against a candidate of their choice to be named and to challenge the law to be changed?
      I support your opinion.

No, I do not think that the Catholic Church must be punished by a prominent priest.
      Some people are religious fanatics!

I believe in the separation of church and state, which means they have no interrelationship between them.

No, we have freedom of speech in this nation, and those who support a grave moral evil is sin. This should not affect our nation or our political process, if it is they are to repent of the serious moral evil.
Obama is pro-abortion candidate ever to run for political office, he suports abortion in all cases, and even supports the accidental death of babies born alive. He has stated publicly that he does not want his daughter "punished with a baby" if they are accidentally pregnant.
Joe Biden could be considered pro-choice, which is personally against abortion, but does not feel that he must protect the little ones.
Obama is pro-abortion. Oath in front of Planned Parenthood, in a speech to pass the Freedom of Choice Act, which removes the protection of all abortion providers, including waiting periods, counseling, parental permission (for a dangerous medical procedure The protection for babies accidentally born alive, and all other mothers are able to save themselves from any blame for the terrible life of killing their own children.

The 501 (c) (3) applies to cnadidates no real winners. I copied this paragraph from the IRS website:
Under the Internal Revenue Code, all section 501 (c) (3) organizations are absolutely prohibited from directly or indirectly participating in, or intervening in any political campaign on behalf of (or in opposition to) any candidate for office publicly elected. Contributions to political campaign funds or public statements of position (verbal or written) the name of the organization in favor or against any candidate for public office clearly violate the prohibition on political campaign activity. Violation of this prohibition may result in the denial or revocation of tax exemption and the imposition of certain excise duties. (I'll leave the link in my resources)
Nonprofit organizations have never been subject to restrictions until Lyndon B. Johnson, in 1954, adopted an executive order to put restrictions on 501 (c) 3 organizations. No official reason was given, but scholars believe it was to silence an organization that supports their candidate opponent. (not a church that spoke against it)
Presidents should not pass executive orders that go against the constitution. The first amendment clearly supports freedom of expression and this law was simply to silence the opposition.
The churches are free to speak out against the candidates, but would lose its 501 (c) 3. Many churches (and others) are doing today, because they feel they can no longer remain silent on issues relating to the church today. I tend to agree.
Even the research groups that once used you have 501c3 status in order to support a candidate who supports their research or to speak against one does not.
I do not think the church loses its tax exempt status simply because many tax-exempt organizations that have endorsed candidates or speak against him. Tax exempt status and 501 (c) 3 status are two different things and people get confused with the rules governing 501 (c) 3 of the rules for tax-exempt organizations when they are not the same. 501 (c) 3 status are other things such as the possibility of seeking grants for construction, for the parishioners to claim a tax deduction for their tithes to the church, and things like that. Which could lose its 501 (c) 3 status, but could still be tax exempt.
In general, only a handful of organizations that have lost their 501 (c) 3, and none lost forever, only temporarily.
If for some reason the church has lost its only condition is that the church and not the organization as a whole.
I am far from being Catholic, but let's not forget all the things the Catholic Church has made to the charity over the years. Catholic missionaries have worked abroad in hospitals, which are the first to appear in national and international disasters, which provide services to pregnant women, adopting families, the wounded soldiers, and the list goes on. We will not condemn the whole church with the words of a man.
