  1. New Creation says:

Prayer is an act of worship, easy and simple.
God has provided one mediator between God and man and man is Jesus Christ.
The Christian is to pray to God the Father by the power of the Holy Spirit and in the name of Jesus Christ alone.
Christian died not, I repeat, do not intercede for the people - that power belongs to Christ alone. And the angels who do not respond well. Try and get a cult of John the response was a holy angel, recorded in Revelation.
The dead in Christ are no longer involved in the troubles of this world, nor should they.
A saint is a Christian is not an event as death by the Catholic Church.
      Do not believe?
Take a look at the opening of Paul comment on the book of Ephesians - "To the saints in Ephesus, the faithful in Christ Jesus."
Paul is not speaking to Christians dead.

  2. Born-Again Catholic says:

No, do not worship Mary or the saints, though it is a very popular misconception. We only worship God - Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
It is likely that many respondents to explain this in detail. So just give it as food for thought: I am a former Baptist. If at any time during the conversion process I had been told or given any other indication which is expected to worship them, I have been outside the door and in a trice.
Any honor we give to the saints has absolutely nothing outside of what is due to Christ alone - in fact, is what Christ has done in his life being honest, not everything he has achieved in his own strength.

  3. Niceguy2 says:

I will respond to "pray" for "intercession". Do not put God at the same level of Mary and the saints. The question is what happens to people when they move? do go to heaven or are in limbo until the second coming? The one true Catholic Church teaches (infallilbility teaching) that people who die in grace, they can be found at the sky. The sky is where we are saints, but if they do not think there is this process of answering this question makes no sense.

  4. Roman C says:

No, not worship. We honor them, especially in the Virgin as God's special friends, who are already in heaven praying for us in the world. Remain part of the church. We ask the Church to the church triumphant in heaven. church on earth is the church militant, as they are still struggling against the forces of Satan in our lives. You must accept that Mary was and is a human being. He was chosen among all women and all the times to be the spouse of the Holy Spirit, the Ark of the New Alliance and the mother of the author's life. You will read about their insights on the use of a crown of 12 stars. The idea that the Protestants that it was merely a "vessel" that God used and cast off is not the Bible, remember that the Magnificat tells us that all generations call her blessed.

  5. sparki77 says:

No, Catholics DO NOT worship Mary.
Look, I love my husband. I love Jesus. I love my children. I love chocolate.
I do not love the same way. And this is because it uses the word "love" in the same way, right? You like people to love Jesus, love objects, but not in the same way.
Catholics worship God (Father, Son, Holy Spirit), and that's it. We have a lot of respect for Mary and the saints, and we can use some of the same terminology, but we mean something very different. Mary and the saints are not gods.

  6. morporc says:

Have you ever asked your family to pray with you?
We ask Mary and the Church Triumphant to pray with us, because we believe that part of our family. (We do not worship Mary and the saints - more than any devotion to his family).
Protestants do not regard as blessed as them. That seems right.

  7. Mike C says:

No, Catholics do not worship Mary or other saints. To do so would be a sin. We honor them, but they do not worship. Part of the problem comes with the idea of prayer "to" the saints. We call on Catholics as those who have preceded us to pray for us … intercessory prayer. The saints who have gone over are still part of the body of Christ, which are not? As such, it can not be said to be concerned about us and communicate our needs to God? How is that any different from asking a friend at his church to pray for you? The difference is that the saints are in heaven and pray perfectly within God's will. This is not necromancy, it does not expect to hear directly from the dead saint. These are not dead and forgotten the saints … they are alive in Christ, God is the God of the living not the dead.
Even our prayer so often maligned, the Hail Mary comes from the Book … the first half, he quotes the Gospel of Luke … the second half to ask Mary to pray for us.
      I hope that helps.

  8. Misty says:

Worship God. We have not and do not worship Mary or the Saints. Why ask such a thing? Do you worship the Bible?
How to express worship? What do you do for others to know that you worship God alone? When I was a Protestant never "did" nothing to indicate worship to God. We meet every Sunday, he heard the Bible, listening to a sermon, prayed and sang and went home. Catholics do it too.
Get accused of Catholics pray to Mary because worship. However, the word "pray" does not mean worship, means to ask or request. How is it that Protestants determined that it is a form of worship? Worship comes from the heart and soul of a person and only God can tell if someone is worshiping a false god or not.
Actions themselves can not be considered religious, there must be intent. If I kneel beside my bed to pray for someone who does not know my intention, I can believe that I love my bed. Obviously I'm not, but a stranger may not know this. The same applies to honor Mary … because no one perceived and the action to be Catholic "cult" did not.
When we pray to Mary or the Saints, always asking them to pray for my family, myself or loved ones. It is never to worship them. Who hates that idea anyway. Mary and the saints of God love and both would certainly be horrified by the idea that they worshiped. They know that God is not like us.

  9. Shlane says:

    * Drinking, nobody wants a drink? *
NO Marie worship. Worship God and Jesus as the Son of God and it is the only way to get tot Kingdom … We give thanks to His Mother, Mary, because when the angel came [The Announciation] God's plan for her to accept having a child? said yes. If she did not say yes, Jesus would not have been. Simple as that.
Do not thank your mother for having to try and you? oh then close the case!
If you read my reply, which have seen their worship … but obviously has not read or will not understand. My question is if it anrrow ideas why ask?

  10. ROBERT P says:

Catholics do not worship Mary and other saints. I have the feeling that you already know. There are hundreds of answers on this topic. Appearing all the time. So why do you ask? Why do you think Mary has appeared to many people over the past 1000 years? Mary and Jesus are related to our salvation. God wanted that long before she was born. So it is important to us.

  11. Karenita EWTN ((Allecat)) says:

no, no cult of Mary and the saints. we ask through prayer for us to pray to God for our needs. Worship and adoration of God is reserved for itself. Who told you that we Catholics worship Mary and the saints was wrong.

  12. Sldgman says:

The answer to your question is "No, Catholics do not worship Mary."
Who told you this is the dissemination of lies and should not be heard.

  13. Donna says:

    Do you love Jesus? Why?

  14. ridder says:

I never understood that either. In high school (Catholic, Lutheran am) I had to take a religion class. Teaching the class the sister did not realize that some of us are not Catholic and we were not all that terribly. I once asked him why pray to Mary and the Saints? God is too busy to listen? Needless to say, I ended up in the Deans office. After explaining that I was a Lutheran, I left out the hook. So … Do you really think that when you pray God is listening? I
I think when it comes to praying for me.
Added: HMM 5 thumbs down. I'm not trying to question the practice just so I can understand. Thanks for the responses given the answer. Catholics also do not judge me, please do not judge me for wanting to understand.
