Catholics: Is this place the disciples of Jesus as equal to Jesus' mother Mary?

Mat 12:46-50
46 While he was still talking to people, his mother and brothers were without, desiring to speak with him.
47 Then one said, Your mother and your brothers are outside, wanting to talk to you.
48 But he answered and told him he said, Who is my mother? And who are my brothers?
49 and he stretched his hand towards his disciples and said, Behold my mother and my brothers!
50 For those who do the will of my Father in heaven, the same is my brother and sister and mother.

  1. Christian lady says:

Jesus loved his mother very much and now apparently by Joseph
his earthly father had died, was greater than Mary.
When Jesus told the disciples that this meant that everyone
followed would be so close to him as a mother or a brother.
He also asked John, the disciple closest to him was to take Mary
in your home and treat the rest of his life as if she was his own
Mother. Jesus' concern for her and wanted to ensure that
planned. But anyone who accepts Christ becomes a co-heir
with Him in heaven. In other words, as he will inherit the Sky
does. So those who follow Him and do the will of the Father
be the same as a brother, sister or mother. God bless.

Well, based on contributions, but it is difficult to say in the Bible if they are equal. They have different functions. I think it is a matter of opinion is more important. A place with Peter, would not have been the cornerstone of the Church, which is very important, but Mary was predicted (serpants crush the head) and the announcement was very important. Furthermore, the increased presence of Christ and his first miracle at Cana. It is also good to have a good woman in the Bible.
I love Mary, but her role as mother has nothing outside of the apostles. Who was most important in your life, your best friend or your mother? Both are important in different ways and probably both in form and they were there for you in different ways. As Christ had a human aspect, he may feel the same way. Because it represents the love and unity, why worry that it was equally or more important. Inasmuch as Christ is the highest, we are all good.
