This is true, much like the Catholic religion hate to admit it. The Bible says that some may choose to be celibate, but that is just a few. Peter himself was a married man.
The Catholic religion developed this plan to keep the wealth in the Vatican genocide.

I have to disagree with you given the reason and say it was more because celibacy is considered so holy, like the Virgin Mary. The rest of what you said, I agree with.
