    Were two Marys.
      One was Mary Stuart, Queen of Scots, granddaughter of Henry VIII's sister Margaret Tudor. She was a premium (rate) to Elizabeth I and was married to the young French King Francis II. When Francis died, he returned to Scotland, she married Henry, Lord Darnley, and had a son, James. Darnley died mysteriously, and Mary married the Earl of Bothwell. There were problems in Scotland, and Mary fled to England to seek the assistance of Elizabeth I. In England, Mary was imprisoned for 19 years, Elizabeth had her beheaded at Fotheringhay Castle in Northamptonshire for alleged conspiracy against the English Queen. He was a Catholic, Catholics and many thought he had a claim to the English throne. (One sees the mother of Isabel to marry his father's illegal.) Contrary to popular belief, Elizabeth and Mary never met.http: / / http://www.marie-stuart.co.uk/
      Mary I of England, or Mary Tudor, was the half sister Elizabeth. Mary was the mother of Henry VIII first wife, Katherine of Aragon, and took a tragic life. After the death of his father, his younger brother, Edward VI, ruled England for a short time until he died young. Edward was a staunch Protestant, when Mary came to the throne, tried to bring England to the Catholic faith, the burning of about 300 protesters in the process. To do so, he earned the nickname "Bloody Mary". She made a very unpopular marriage to Philip of Spain, Maria was already too old for those times, and she thought she was pregnant twice. These turned out to be phantom pregnancy or tumors, and that no baby was born after nine months. She made all the preparations, and then had to face the humiliation of returning to public view with nothing to show for it. She finally died, it is believed, of ovarian cancer or the flu, leaving his younger sister Elizabeth as Queen of England.http: / / tudorhistory.org / mary /
      None of the children of Henry VIII had his own children. Edward VI was too young, too old Mary and Elizabeth never married. Elizabeth I, when he died, he was succeeded by the son of Mary, Queen of Scots and James I of England and VI of Scotland.

    Isabel kept imprisoned Mary Stuart as Mary was trying to usurp the throne of England after losing his.
      Mary grew up in France and was briefly queen of France before the death of her husband and returned to Scotland. Once there he managed to marry an English, have your baby, being widowed (and is suspected of ordering his murder), to marry the man believes he was murdered husband (after claiming to be raped by him), and then took his seat away.
      Ran plot against England and succeeded his cousin and again before going too far, and having his head cut off.
      Oh, and two Marys were Catholic.

  3. Amber says:

    No, the Queen Mary of Scotland was the cousin of Elizabeth, who was the "legitimate" king of Scotland and the real Queen of England in the eyes of those who thought Elizabeth a bastard son. Elizabeth had to imprison her in order to maintain the article on the land. Elizabeth eventually had to have executed their uprising to end its supporters.

    There have been two of the ruling queen of England named Mary. None of these ladies is Mary Queen of Scots. The first Queen Mary Elizabeth was the half sister of Henry VIII first wife, Catherine of Aragon. It was a strong Catholic and very active in his persecution of Protestants, to the point that he obtained the nickname "Bloody Mary". The Queen Mary was the second co-ruler with her husband (and cousin) King William III. She was, indeed, great-granddaughter of Mary Queen of Scots.
      Mary, Queen of Scots was the granddaughter of Henry VIII's sister Margaret. His son James became king of England when Elizabeth died childless.

    When Mary Queen of Scots (MQS) was born, the two daughters of Henry VIII was Elizabeth, 9 years and Mary for 26 years. MQS was the oldest grandchild of the sister of Henry 8. So it was a generation younger than Elizabeth and Mary. She would be his first cousin once removed.
      ———
      The father of Mary died 6 days after his birth that his Queen of Scotland at the age of 1 week
      ======
      Around 30 weeks after birth MQS, Henry VIII married by the 6th and final time. He also restored both Mary and Elizabeth I to the line of succession and that they are legitimate (behind his son). However, Catholics always considered Elizabeth illegitimate and parcel to MQS in the English throne, when he became king.

      Since neither I nor Mary Elizabeth I or Edward ever had a child, the royal line ended up going through Mary Queen of Scotland. Elizabeth II is 13 generations of MQS.
