In fact, the official teachings of the Roman Catholic Church is that any person who is so mental disorders that can successfully commit suicide is not morally responsible for their actions.
In short, the Church teaches that grace may yet save the person if the shares of which are guilty morally justified by Christ, because the actions that are not morally culpable, not weigh against him.

Hmmmmmmm you do not know Catholic doctrine, does not teach suicides go to hell.
said it was a grave sin, but the ability of mental and emotional suicide diminishes their ability to think rationally and clearly and, therefore, his trial and the seriousness of sin.
Catechism of the Catholic Church:
2282 If the suicide is committed with intent to set an example, especially the youth, also on the seriousness of the scandal.
Voluntary co-operation in suicide is contrary to moral law.
Serious psychological distress, anguish, or grave fear of hardship, suffering, or torture can diminish the responsibility of committing suicide.
2283 We must not despair of the eternal salvation of persons who have taken their own lives. By means known to him alone, God can provide the opportunity for salutary repentance. The Church prays for persons who have taken their own lives.

First I would like to say how I feel about the death of his friend. Secondly, if your friend is saved, it is in heaven with Jesus now. You do not go to hell for something that is not the abandonment of Jesus. I hope this helps. God bless.

the Catholic Church recognizes suicide as a sin, but the church is unable to determine who goes to heaven or hell, that is, until god. the priest can honestly expect the person to go to heaven in their view only theoligical the fate of his friend. his friend was not in his right state of mind so it is possible for the gods to be the mercy for purification in purgatory or heaven, possibly only one who knows God. Wrong. We Catholics do not believe all suicides go to hell. Only God can read and know a soul that is sin. If someone is really sick or your account in one way, then it can not be found guilty. Hope in Christ's Divine Mercy.

Only God can read people's hearts. Only God knows what is at the heart of the victim moments before he committed suicide.
It is quite possible that suicide suicide may not necessarily lead to automatic condemnation to hell.
What if the victim was mentally disturbed in some way? What if the victim was having adverse effects to medication? There are a number of things that could lead to the suicide of a person without the full consent of the victims will. In such cases, the guilt of suicide can be reduced.
Even if the victim did not commit suicide with the full consent of the will, the family is not entitled to the spiritual consolation of his pastor? Is it against the will of God, to hope and pray for the salvation of the victim of suicide? Of course not. Are indeed entitled to spiritual consolation. Indeed, it is hoped that rigthly - through circumstances beyond our understanding and / or known only to God, is the right to hope for the salvation of the victim.
While suicide is a grave sin, is the circumstances and context in which the event takes place unforntunate to determine the fate of the soul of the victim.
Do not forget, God is merciful and just. Therefore, there is always hope.

Priest who understands that there is perhaps something is wrong on Rome?
It was his friend's funeral service held at the local Catholic parish?

I think people who commit suicide are very brave. I also believe that to be ill or think they are ill, to do so. But I still think they are brave, and I believe that God understands and that are in heaven.
