If the Latin word 'worship' means to worship, how is it that Catholics say they do not Worship Mary?

The common argument is "no cult worship."
Worship is not an English word is a transliteration of the Latin.
Therefore, to change the definition of the word when transliterated into English, which is a hoax.
Why lie about it. Worship means worship. Venerate saints and Mary is idolatry.
If this practice as safe, respect the authority of the Church over Scripture Sola anyway, then why not proudly say, "Yes, the cult of Mary and the saints?
Why be ashamed of it to the point where you have to be deceptive?

Your question shows you do not understand Latin, English, Catholicism, or the logic is built on a false assumption, there is no way to answer it.

You are very confused about their terminology Latin. No offense, but I suggest you do a little study on the subject. If you think that "worship" is equal to its idea of "worship", then you're accusing Abraham, David, Jacob, Cornelius, Peter, the apostle John, as well as several minor figures of Scripture.

  4. Empanada says:

Worship: "philologist, to worship comes from the Latin verb, venerari, meaning that it with reverence and respect. This word is derived from the same root as the name of Venus, the goddess of love of the Roman pantheon. "
Of course, that begs the question: Why be ashamed of it to the point where you have to be deceptive?

  5. Eiliat says:

This does not mean worship, and even if they did, word meanings change. The word in Latin means vagina sheath.

Mary worship even if they say no, as is the participation of the pagan Roman / Greek societies
Popes have ordered the shrines of Isis to be replaced with the shrines of Mary
Mary is like being against a co-redemptress
The idea comes from the Greek legends and Rome
where hades is the king of the underworld, and his wife Persephone was a man who robbed him
hades judge while Persephone screamed his name asking for mercy.
In the same way as the Catholic elite supports the concept of creating the idea that Mary is able to stem the wrath of her son.
This is our society populated i:
the song is … words are as my mother Mary
We only have one in Christ the Redeemer
and God told us to leave the comfort of the Holy Spirit
when Pope John Paul 2 was shot in the head, he said, his mother Mary, instead of saying God or Jesus, which seems a little word of a man called the Vicar of Christ
if Catholics are aware or not aware, there is a need in Mary's Catholic Church to raise the level of deity.
With titles such as Queen of Heaven, or the divine virgin.
The title of queen of heaven belongs to the mother of Nimrod, Queen Semiramis. Nimrod built the Tower of Babel, which was destroyed by God. Here, we practice the reincarnation of sleeping with his mother, to produce one of the many pagan trinities
father, mother and son, Father against Son and Holy Spirit

Well, if the Vatican does not teach people to worship Mary, how do you account for the books written on behalf of the Vatican during the 18th and 19th centuries that "clearly" show otherwise ?

Prove that mom is not trying to make a co-Redemptrix Mary or pray to or worship.
A lay movement called "Vox Populi" (Voice of the People ") has signed petitions to send to the Pope, asking him officially declare that Mary is Co-Redemptrix. More than six million signatures have been sent to him, representing 138 countries and all seven continents. This doctrine is supported by over 40 cardinals and 600 bishops from around the world.

Here is the name of the book and the writer. What I read a quote from the Vatican.
I challenge any Catholic to ask their priests for this book:
The following quotes are taken from the book "The Glories of Mary" which was written by Bishop Alphonse de Liguori, one of the greatest writers of devotion of the Roman Catholic Church, and the Word of God, taken from the Douay version which is approved by the Church. Editor's warning says: "Everything that our saint has written, as it were, a summary of the Catholic tradition on the subject matter is not an individual author is, so to speak, the church that speaks for itself us by the voice of his prophets, his apostles, its popes, its saints, their parents, their doctors of all nations and ages. No other book seems to be more worthy of recommendation in this regard that The Glories of Mary. " [1931 edition. Redemptorist Fathers, Brooklyn]
      Note the following deadly parallel:
Mary is given the place belonging to Christ
"It's really a mediatress of peace between sinners and God. Receive the forgiveness of sinners … Mary herself. "(P. 82.83). "Mary is our life … Mary obtain this grace for sinners by her intercession, thus restores them to life. "(P.80)" He is not lost and has not resorted to Mary. "(P94).
Mary is more than glorified Christ
"The Holy Church has a WORSHIP peculiar to Mary." (P. 130). "Many things … are asked of God, and is not granted, they are asked and obtained from Mary, 'for' She's the queen … Hell, and Sovereign Mistress of the Devils. "(pp. 127,141,143).
Maria is the gateway to heaven instead of Christ
Mary is called … the door of heaven, because you can not go after the blessed kingdom without passing through it "(p. 160)
'The road to salvation is open to any other than through Mary, "and from" Our salvation lies in the hands of Mary … Which is protected by Mary will be saved, which is not lost '(pp 169,170)
Mary is given the power of Christ
"All power is given to you in heaven and earth" so that "at the command of Mary all obey - even God … … and therefore God has placed the whole church … under the rule of Mary '(pp 180,181).
Mary is also the lawyer for the entire human race … so you can do what God wants. "(P193)
Mary is the place of peace in Christ our Peace
"Mary is the peace between sinners and God" (p. 197)
"We often more quickly obtain what we call, calling on the name of Mary than by invoking that of Jesus. … She is our salvation, our life, our hope, our lawyer, our refuge and our help "(pp. 254, 257).
Mary is the glory that belongs to Christ alone
"The whole Trinity, O Mary, gave you a name … above any other name, that name, every knee should bow, of things in heaven, on earth and under the earth. "(P. 260)
Liguori, more than any other person who has been responsible for promoting Mariolatry in the Roman Church, dethroning Christ and Mary in enthroning the hearts of the people. Yet instead of excommunicating their heresies, the Roman Catholic Church has canonized as a saint and has published his book in many editions.
Widely used in a prayer book, the Raccolta, which has been especially indulgence by several popes and, therefore, is accepted by Romanists as authority, as we read the following:
'Hail Mary, Mother of Mercy, our Life. Sweetness and hope, all Hail! You cry, exiled sons of Eve, that you sigh, groaning and weeping in this valley of tears. "
"We flew under your shelter, O Holy Mother of God, despise not our petitions in our needs and always offer all dangers, O glorious and blessed Virgin."
"Heart of Mary, Mother of God … Worthy of the veneration of angels and men … In you let the Holy Church find safe shelter, protect, and that his asylum, its tower, its strength. "
"Sweet Heart of Mary is my salvation."
"Let me not, my mother in my own hands, or I lost, but let me cling to you. Save me, my hope, from hell '.
Also in the Raccolta prayers go to Joseph:
"Benigno Jose, our guide, protect us and the Holy Church."
"Guardian of virgins, and Holy Father Joseph, whose faithful keeping Christ Jesus, innocence itself, and Mary, Virgin of virgins, were committed, and beg you beg for these two dear pledges, Jesus and Mary which is preserved from all uncleanness, I may with spotless mind, pure heart and chaste body, ever most chastely serve Jesus and Mary. Amen.
The rosary, which is by far the most popular Catholic prayer ritual contains fifty "Ave Maria" The Hail Mary (or Ave Maria) is the following.
"Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus, Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death , Amen. "

  9. Daver says:

Veneration is paid honor to the saints for their intercession and example and his power of God, minister to sanctification, to help the faithful grow in Christian virtue. Venerate the saints does not detract from the glory to God, as any good is having a gift from his favor. Reflect the divine perfections and their supernatural qualities result of the grace of Christ merited for them by the Cross. In the language of the liturgy of the Church, the saints are venerated as the holy Trinity, as adopted children of the Father, brothers of Christ, the faithful members of his Mystical Body, and temples of the Holy Spirit.
Veneration / Honor de los Santos
Matt. 18:10 - the angels in heaven always behold the face of God. We revere for its great dignity and union with God.
Matt. 15:4, Luke 18:20, Eph. 6:2-3 Exodus 20:12, Lev. 19:3, Deut. 5:16 - was commissioned to honor our father and mother.
Luke 1:28 - worships the angel Gabriel to Mary to declare his "Hail full of grace." The angel heavenly honors human Mary, for her perfection of grace is superior to the angels.
Romans 13:7 - let's give the honor to be honored. When we honor the sons of God, honor God, He is the source of all honor.
1 Cor. 4:16 - the most important form of veneration of saints is "imitate" the saints, as Paul commands us to do.
1 Cor. 11:1 - again, Paul says, "Be imitators of me, and I of Christ." The ultimate goal of veneration is imitation.
Phil. 2:25-29 - Paul teaches us to honor Epaprhoditus almost died for the faith. How much should honor those saints who did not die for the faith!
Phil. 3:17 - Paul says to imitate him and others, which is the object of veneration. Veneration is not worship.
1 Thess. 1:6 - Paul says to the Thessalonians, "You became imitators of us and the Lord." This is the purpose of worship.
2 Thess. 3:7 - Paul says that the Thessalonians should imitate him and other bishops.
Hebrews 3:3 - Jesus is worthy of more glory and honor to Moses. This does not mean that the saints are not worthy of the glory and honor. Instead, it shows that the holy people are worthy of honor and glory of God's goodness.
Heb. 6:12 - the author teaches us to be imitators of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.
Heb. 13:7 - we must imitate the faith of our faithful leaders. We pray for her intercession and veneration for his sanctity.
James 5:10-11 - James teaches us to take heart from the examples of the prophets and Job, the suffering endured.
1 Peter 2:17 - Peter teaches us to honor all men, love of brotherhood, fear God, honor the emperor. Not living with Christ in heaven deserve the honor? Catholics believe they do, and honor the holidays, as well as honor those who live by the celebration of his birthday.
Gen. 19:1 - Lot reveres the two angels in Sodom, bowing himself with his face on the floor.
Gen. 42:6 - Joseph's brothers bow before Joseph with the face to the ground. This is worship, not worship.
Exodus 28:2 - is especially important to honor the religious leaders. Holy garments of Aaron to give dignity and honor.
Lev. 19:32 - we must also honor "the face of an old man." When the elderly die in Christ, we must continue to honor them, because death does not separate from us or the love of Christ.
1 Sam. 28:14 - Saul bows before Samuel with his face to the ground in reverence.
2 Chron. 32:33 - Hezekiah was honored at his death. We honor our brothers and sisters in the Lord.
Lord. 44:1-2 - we must give praise and honor to whom the Lord apportioned great glory. This is our family in Christ.
Indeed, in the case of Sola Scriptura - "Only the Bible refutes" Only the Bible "
Gen. to Rev. - Scripture never says that Scripture is the sole authority of the inerrant Word of God. Writing also requires the use of tradition. This fact alone disproves sola scriptura.
Matt. 28:19, Mark 16:15 - those who preached the Gospel to every creature, but did not write the Gospel were not less obedient to Jesus, his teachings or less.
Matt. 28:20 - "observe everything I have commanded", but as we see in John 20:30, 21:25, Jesus is not all taught in the Scriptures. So there must be things outside of Scripture that we must observe. This refutes the "Bible alone" theology.
Mark 16:15 - Jesus to the apostles to "preach" can not write, and only three apostles wrote. Others who did not write were not less faithful to Jesus, because Jesus gave them no directive to write. There is no evidence in the Bible or elsewhere that Jesus intended the Bible is the sole authority of the Christian faith.
Luke 1:1-4 - Luke acknowledges that the faithful have received the teachings of Christ and his Gospel is written only to "realize the certainty of the teachings he has received." Luke writes to verify the oral tradition already received.
John 20:30, 21:25 - Jesus did many other things not written in the scriptures. These have been preserved through the oral apostolic tradition and are also a part of the deposit of faith.
Acts 8:30-31, Heb. 5:12 - these verses show that we need help in the interpretation of Scripture. We can not infallibly interpret on our own. We need leadership divinely appointed within the Church to teach us.
Acts 15:1-14 - Peter resolves the Church's doctrine on the first question circumcision without referring to the Scriptures.
Acts 17:28 - Paul quotes the writings of pagan poets when he taught at the Aeropagus. Thus, Paul appeals to sources outside of Scripture to teach about God.
1 Cor. 5:9-11 - this verse shows that a letter written before Corinth is equally authoritative but not part of the New Testament canon. Paul is again a call to a source outside of Scripture to teach the Corinthians. This refutes the Scripture itself.
1 Cor. 11:2 - Paul commends the faithful to obey the apostolic tradition, and not just Scripture.
Phil. 4:9 - Paul says that what they have learned and received and heard and seen in me, yeah. There is nothing about obeying Scripture never alone.
Col. 4:16 - this verse shows that a letter written to Laodicea is equally authoritative but not part of the New Testament canon. Paul once again appeals to a source outside the Bible to teach about the Word of God.
1 Thess. 2:13 - Paul says, "when he received the word of God, you've heard of us .." How can the teaching of the Bible first century Christians that the Bible is their only source of infallible teaching, if, at the same time, oral disclosure is provided to them also? Protestants can not pretend that there is an authority (the Bible) while two sources of authority (the Bible and oral disclosure).
1 Thess. 3:10 - Paul wants the Thessalonians to see face to face and supply what is missing. Your letter is not enough.
2 Thess. 2:14 - Paul says that God has called us "through our gospel." What is the fullness of the Gospel?
2 Thess. 2:15 - the Gospel is the fullness of the apostolic tradition, which includes education, whether by word or by letter. Scripture does not say "own letter." The Catholic Church has the fullness of the Christian faith through its rich traditions of Scripture, oral tradition and teaching authority (or Magisterium).
2 Thess 3:6 - Paul teaches us to obey the apostolic tradition. There is no instruction in the Scriptures about obeying the Bible alone (the word "Bible" is not even in the Bible).
1 Tim. 3:14-15 - Paul prefers not to speak and write, and is written only if it is delayed and can not be with Timothy.
2 Tim. 2:2 - Paul says the apostolic tradition is passed on to future generations, but it says nothing about all the traditions they finally committed to the Apostolic Bible.
2 Tim. 3:14 - continue in what you have learned and know from whom I learned cree. Again, this refers to the tradition that lies outside of the Bible.
James 4:5 - James appealed to Scripture, even outside the canon of the Old Testament ( "He yearns jealously over the spirit that He has done …")
2 Peter 1:20 - the interpretation of Scripture is not a question of interpretation. Therefore, it should be a matter of "public" interpretation of the Church. Divine The Divine Word needs an interpreter. Private trial leads to divisions, and that is why there are 30,000 different Protestant denominations.
2 Peter 3:15-16 - Peter said the letters of Paul are inspired, but not all cards are in the canon of the New Testament. See, eg, 1 Cor. 5:9-10, Col. 4:16. Also, Peter used the word "ignorant" means in school, reflecting the requirement of oral apostolic instruction that comes from the Church.
2 Peter 3:16 - the Scriptures are hard to understand and may be distorted by the ignorant to their destruction. God the Holy Spirit does not guarantee every one of us would infallibly interpret the Scriptures. But this is what Protestants must argue in support of their doctrine of sola scriptura. History and countless divisions in Protestantism disprove it.
1 John 4:1 - again, God teaches us all things to test, test all spirits. Despite what many Protestants argue, God's Word is not always obvious.
1 Sam. 3:1-9 - for example, the Lord spoke to Samuel, but Samuel does not recognize that God is. The Word of God is not self-certification.
1 Kings 13:1-32 - In this story, we see that a man can not discern God's word (the commandment "do not eat") and a prophet of the erroneous word (that God had rescinded his commandment "not eat "). The words of the Bible, despite what many Protestants to defend, are not always clear and understandable. This is why there are 30,000 different Protestant churches and one Holy Catholic Church.
Gen. to Rev. - Protestants must admit that knowing what books belong in the Bible is necessary for our salvation. However, because the Bible is "inspired index," you must look beyond the Bible to see how his books have been selected. This destroys the theory of Sola Scriptura. The canon of Scripture is a revelation of God which is necessary for our salvation, and that comes from outside the Bible. Instead, this revelation was given by God to the Catholic Church, the pinnacle and foundation of truth (1 Tim. 3:15).

Veneratio worship is meant to honor and respect to see the Latin dictionaries. I respect my teachers and employers, honor hockey, baseball players or military heroes.

Indeed, the Latin word for worship is a servant and is colere cultus.http: / / en.wiktionary.org / wiki / Cultus

  12. Mr. Williams says:

    That certainly is not true.
Many Latin words in English have become, and in the process of its meaning has changed. Verbum, for example, means "word", not a verb.
Worship comes from the Latin "Venerari", which in turn comes from "Venus" is the noun "love", the Roman goddess of love. Therefore, even the Latin meaning "worship." That means the love or desire.
His attempt to insult Catholics is useless, I'm afraid. They have done nothing wrong in "worship" Mary, but showing love and admiration for her. Literally, she is venerated.
What do you say to that?

  13. Yahweh's Toaster says:

Venerārī from Venus, love or desire.

  14. Freedom says:

Using a different word does not change the essence of what we are doing. A definition of "worship" is "with respect to reverence or respect." Nowhere in the Bible tells us to worship none but God alone. There is nothing wrong with the fundamental Christians who have gone before us (see Hebrews chapter 11). There is nothing wrong with honoring Mary as the earthly mother of Jesus. The Bible describes Mary as "highly favored" by God (Luke 1:28). At the same time, there is no instruction to worship in the Bible which have gone to heaven. We will follow your example, yes, but worship, venerate or worship, no!
When forced to admit that they do, in fact, the cult of Mary, Catholics claim that the worship of God through her, praising the wonderful creation that God has made. Mary, in their minds, is the most beautiful and wonderful creation of God, and praising her, they are praising their Creator. For Catholics, this is analogous to direct praise to praise an artist for his sculpture and painting. The problem with this is that God explicitly commands to worship Him through created things. We are not inclined to love and something in the way of heaven above or below ground (Exodus 20:4-5). Romans 1:25 could not be clearer, "They exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator - who is forever praised. Amen. "Yes, God created wonderful things and amazing. Yes, Mary was a godly woman who is worthy of our respect. No, absolutely not to worship God "vicariously" by praising things (or people) who created it. Doing so is blatant idolatry.
