There is no reason to believe that this activity has been initiated only in recent decades. The number of young and innocent victims undoubtedly number in the thousands. According to the bible "god" has killed people for crimes far less (and in some cases without any offense at all) that child sexual abuse, which is undoubtedly one of the most repugnant of all human acts. But "god", as omnipotent as it is supposed to be, has done nothing, and sexual abuse of children are still coming to light. Acted swiftly and with vengeance in the Bible stories, but strangely, he does nothing now. Assuming that "God" was angry and upset by this (as any decent and loving "God" would be), why has not done anything about it? If you can create the universe, and everything is there, why not let the little children to become victims of their own representatives?

I read the reflection melted "response" of "free will" again and again here. "God ordered each person killed in Jericho (with one or two possible exceptions). This means that men, women, children and babies. What about "free will", then? "God" KILLED every human being on earth, except immediate family Noahs. Justify What was the crime committed by each and every one of those men, women, children and babies? What about "free will"? But you see this big, powerful …….. false and non existent but ….. "God" not only these things in biblical times. Yes, miracles, murder, stoning, burning, change, animals talk, the 500 years of life, and all the rest of hooey that only happened in biblical times. For some reason, "God" just can not seem to do any of this magical things. Now "he" just sits back, does nothing at all, and leave everything to the "free will". Oh yes, now the answer to "gods" and the total inaction from chronic biblical times, is "free will". This is so surprising and stupifyingly absurd that it takes your breath away.

People of all races, religion and creed have bothered to children long before the invention of the Catholic religion.

I agree with Ray, but it is not just Catholics. Other priests, Rabi, etc have done. It is only recently that Catholics have been singled out and bring to light. As for why God is doing nothing? He was given free will to do good or evil. This is the plague of man and man must solve.

I am sure that the Protestant ministers have been doing for centuries too. There are perverts around the world - Catholics do not have a monopoly on it. What the Catholic Church has done wrong is to cover and move to the priests to new places where you can start all over again. God gave us free will. If we chose to commit a sin that is our fault, not yours. I've never been molested and I am sure Havent well what is difficult to see that children in hand. I love how "Catholic Crusaders" rationalises misbehavior institutionalized. The only argument that has been skewed to the left is that kids should be attracted to the priests. Funny how some people refuse all evidence in favor of their foreign allegiances.

I am tired of the lack of understanding in this matter.
1) Pedophelia is not the problem in the Church. Sine 98% of them reported (not shown) of the cases was conducted with children who were early teens, the real issue is homosexuality. Therefore cannont solve the problem if we do not know what the problem is. Their homosexuality, not pedophelia. (still bad, but it is not the same.)
2) You never know about it because the media are wrongly portrayed. You see, the media promote homosexality as an alternative life, so homosexality could not say that was the problem, not to show themselves as the hypocrites they are. But pedophelia is guaranteed to arouse the anger and hate the media and the Church, which is how they reported it.
3) However, on the subject of pedophilia: The highest rate of crimes of pedophilia occur within the family (parents, uncles, etc.). Therefore, those seeking to connect with celibacy make a bad thing.
4) The percentage of priests who have been indicted (not convicted, just accused) of child abuse, is below the national average. So why not all complain that the problem in America in general? Probably because they are not really concerned about the issue, you want to bash Catholics.
5) Why is there no similar problems among priests in Africa, Asia or the Middle East? I mean, if "celibacy" is what we do (as some claim) or if a problem exclusively Catholic (which is not) then it would be happening everywhere, it is not true? Because our culture has become so degraded and dirty all kinds of foulness that happens in it, and the priests are not super-men: They are sinners like you and me and are not immune to it.
Therefore, some of the reasons why so angry when people keep talking about the priests and the "kids". Mockery of it is based on the facts ignarance dumb, or anti-Catholic intolerance, or usually both.
