Question For Catholics … when you pray, "Hail Mary, full of grace," Who are you praying?

I'm not Catholic, but I know they're praying a. They are basically asking the intercession of the Virgin Mary. Therefore, it is a prayer to God on behalf of another person.

  1. Fly Away says:

It depends on your definition of prayer. The Catholic definition of the word simply means "ask." By definition, we pray to Mary. Also by this definition, we pray to your friend when you ask them to pray for you.
The phrase "Hail Mary, full of grace" is actually a biblical quote. The angel (Gabriel?) Who visited her to tell her son she said that phrase. (In some versions of the Bible translates "Hail Mary, very much in favor of a")
If we use the definition of God that is more common among non-Catholics, which is basically "educated", then we pray for anyone.

  2. Farsight (The anti-Chris) says:

When Catholics pray the Hail Mary, which are basically asking Mary, the Mother of God, pray to Jesus and God on their behalf. Do not ask him to bless them, or indeed their worship in any way, just ask him to use his influence with the son of God and Jesus on their behalf. The same with the saints. In this case, closer to the meaning of prayer is "talking" and "cult."

  3. AZ KNIGHT WOLF says:

Mary. Praying means "speak," no religion.
