Why Catholics pray for the dead and Mary?
Do they not know that the ruling is final? Will you not trust God in the person taking your place successfully? To me it just shows a lack of faith. Also, I do not see why they have to pray for someone to pray to God. I believe that Jesus opened the door for us, that through Jesus we can talk to the father.
- Catholics. Why pray to Mary? She is dead. Do you not think that God must be the only one Praying For You?
- Why do Catholics pray to Mary and the saints and Bow Before Statues?
- Dead Cannot pray for you. So why Catholics pray to Mary?
- Catholics, will you tell me where in the Gospels are told to pray to Mary?
- Catholics: Why did Jesus pray to Mary, says it is clear that the only door?

As a former Catholic, I was asked this a lot. Catholics seem to assume (big mistake) to Mary (as mothers) had a more tender heart and intervene for us.
As regards the prayer for the dead, they thought they could pray for the dead in heaven.
So I guess you can figure out what I thought of this.

None of the claims being made regarding these nits of theology are clearly stated in the Bible. The Bible is very ambiguous with respect to the situation of those who died and on the efficacy of prayer for those who have died.
Ask Catholics to saints and Mary to pray for them like you ask your fellow Christians to pray for you and only you and pray for his fellow Christians. Do not pray to Mary. God is sovereign in the Catholic church, not Mary. You may want to consider Catholicism a little more before giving all Catholics in hell.

The Bible directs us to invoke in the sky and ask them to pray with us. Thus, in Psalms 103 we pray, "Bless the Lord, oh to his angels, that the powerful make his word, hearkening to the voice of his word! Bless the Lord, all his hosts, his ministers that do his will "(Psalm 103:20-21). In Psalms 148 we pray, "Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord of the heavens, praise him in the highest! Praise him, all his angels, praise him, his welcome to all "(Psalm 148:1-2).
Not only those in heaven pray with us, but also pray for us. In the book of Revelation, we read: "[An] angel came and stood at the altar [in heaven] with a golden censer, and was given much incense to mingle with the prayers of all saints to the golden altar before the throne, and the smoke of the incense rose with the prayers of the saints from the hand of the angel before God "(Rev. 8:3-4).
In heaven and those offering to God our prayers are not just angels, but human beings. John believes that "the twenty-four elders [the leaders of the people of God in heaven] fell down before the Lamb, each with a harp and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints" (Rev . 5:8). The simple fact is, as this passage shows: The saints in heaven offer to God the prayers of the saints on earth.
Of course, we must pray directly to Christ with every need we have (cf. Jn 14:13-14). That is something that the Catholic Church strongly encourages. In fact, the prayers of the Mass, the act of Catholic worship, are directed to God and Jesus, not saints. But this does not mean that we should not also ask our fellow Christians, including those in heaven to pray with us.
We believe in the communion of saints.
We pray for the dead that have value, while in the last purification to be followed to achieve the perfection of heaven.
We ask Mary and the saints to pray for us for the same reason we ask in this life to pray for us. We feel better when they know that someone loves us enough to pray for us.
Why so much concern yourself with the religion they have chosen not to follow?
Because God told him to God.
In response to a post above, prayer is often about the openness to God and let him talk to you.
And, yes, God knows what you are going to pray, but he has in mind what we say, tissue in its master plan as it deems appropriate. He is merciful and wants what is best for you, although perhaps not apparent at the time.
Praying to saints
We are instructed in Scripture to have a life of prayer for others as it is part of God's commandment to love one another.
(DRB 2CO 5:8) But we are confident and have good will and not be absent from the body and present with the Lord.
The Catholic Church teaches that it is not absolutely necessary for one to ask the intercession of the saints for salvation. The Church teaches that prayer to God is necessary for salvation for all believers. For a Catholic it would be wrong to ignore the liturgical worship offered to God in the holidays of the saints and prayers to ask for his intercession.
The communion of saints is a doctrine of the early Church and is registered in the Apostles' Creed. Simply states that the faithful because of their relationship with Christ is alive, even after the death of your flesh and worship with us. For us, the Church is made up of activists representing the Church to all believers who live their hope in the flesh.
(Phi 2:12 DRB) Therefore, my dear, (and have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence), with fear and trembling work their salvation.
(Phi 2:13 DRB) For God, who worketh in you both to will and to perform according to their goodwill.
Suffering is in the Church are those who are temporarily in need of further purging of sin so they can enjoy God's presence.
(DRB 2mA 12:46) Therefore, it is a healthy and holy thought to pray for the dead, which may be loosed from sins.
Finally, the Communion of Saints consists of those who have won the race:
(Phi 3:14 DRB) beat to the mark, the highest prize of the calling of God in Christ Jesus.
Their immortal souls are in heaven in God's presence:
(Rev 5:8 DRB) When he opened the book, the four living creatures and the four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having each one harps and golden vials full of odors, which are the prayers of the saints.
The flow of the universal connection of all of God's creation is His love, in our baptism in our path to sanctification. This is not an emotional desire, but placed in us by the Spirit of God, which endures as a desire for others to love us and this extends even to our enemies. This is truly a love that comes only from God and is a strange and meaningless to those who have not received the saving grace of God. This desire in our souls does not end with the death of our flesh, but continues the saints in eternity, where through her intercession in prayer, encourage us in our career and help us to bear our union with God.
I think some people of faith who do not understand the Communion of Saints, somehow I think that asking the saints, pray for us is undermining our love and our trust in God. It is indeed impossible, if we truly love as God commands and gave us the grace to understand, not to pray for those who love us and we hope that, in turn, to return to that same love for us and we pray offer our prayers to God.
Prayers for the dead
There is a common misunderstanding of Protestant purgatory. At least one Protestant minister, John Wesley speaks of perfection in this life, but little as possible. He is one of the few who proclaim that one can be sanctified in this life and he left the Moravian Church on this issue after a reprimand by Count Zinzendorf to this teaching.
People already in purgatory due to the receipt of the supernatural in the eternal life to our souls through Baptism makes us part of Christ's body. Those in purgatory have accepted Christ through faith and not rejected by him unrepentant mortal sin. It is a place where one is purified by fire (Mal 3:2). Imagine the joy of being in purgatory, and know they are there because they have passed and the sentence is assured of being in the presence of God in heaven. Purgatory is not eternal destiny, there are only two, heaven or hell.
We must not think of purgatory as a kind of legal punishment for past sins, as they would under the old law. Those in purgatory and new creatures changed by the grace of Christ, are the adopted children and part of the family of God in purgatory receives a final cleaning of the discipline and preparation for the perfection of heaven. Catholics believe that sanctification is a process and not complete when it comes to beliefs. Therefore, purgatory is not a suggestion that the atonement of Christ is not sufficient, but we have not finished our sanctification by the grace of Christ.
Cleaning or sanctification is a gradual process and we must persevere to the end to be saved.
(DRB Mat 10:22) And ye shall be hated by all men for my name, but to persevere to the end will be saved.
(DRB Mat 24:13) But he who shall endure to the end will be saved.
(DRB Mar 13:13) And ye shall be hated by all men for my name. But that will last until the end will be saved.
Catholic soteriology recognizes that some of us the process was not completed with the death or who died with the unrepentant sin.
(Hebrews 9:27 DRB) And that is assigned to men once to die, but after this trial:
The verdict is our eternal destiny and those on whose behalf is the Lamb's book of life, heaven is assured. However, we know that one must be sinless to be in God's presence.
(1Ti 6:14 DRB) that you keep the commandment without spot, blameless until the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ,
It is possible that no one is willing to be in the presence of our Lord as they might be deficient in spiritual or temporal effects forgiven our sins in the soul which is necessary for some form of purification in order to enter heaven in the presence of God. Since this is a process of purgation is called purgatory, and in accordance with the prophecy of the prophet Habakkuk, who says that only the holy can enter heaven.
(Hab 1:13 DRB) Your eyes are too pure to see the evil, and you can not look to the iniquity. Why lookest you do unjust things, and your peace holdest harmdoers devoureth when the man who is more fair to him?
St. Paul also teaches a process of purgation which can involve suffering in the soul of Christians and in his first letter to the Church of Corinth, which describes the process of purgation after death.
(DRB 1 Cor 3:10) According to God's grace given to me as a wise architect I have laid the foundation and another builds thereon. But all men have in mind what is built thereon.
(DRB 1 Cor 3:11) For other foundation can no man, but what he states, that is Christ Jesus.
(DRB 1 Cor 3:12) But if any man build upon this foundation, gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble:
(1 Cor 3:13 DRB) All men's work is manifested. The day of the Lord shall declare, as evidenced in the fire. And the fire is every man's work, what type it is.
(DRB 1 Cor 3:14) If anyone's work abide, which has built on this, get a reward.
(DRB 1 Cor 3:15) If any work recording Mans, who shall suffer loss, but he himself shall be saved, but so as by fire.
St. Paul speaks figuratively of the results of sin remaining in the soul is like the "wood, hay and straw and burned away in the final purification process that is received in the presence of the Lord. St. Paul also speaks of one of the works such as gold, silver and precious stones, which are refined and stored.
This passage reminds me of what Christ said in the next, indicating that some sins can be forgiven after death.
(DRB Mat 12:32) Then speak a word against the Son of man can be forgiven, but to speak against the Holy Spirit, you will not be forgiven neither in this world, neither in the world to come.
Purgatory is also related to the parable of the unmerciful servant who is following …
(DRB Mat 18:32) Then his lord called him and told him: Thou wicked servant, I forgave the entire debt, because you besoughtest me:
(Mat 18:33 DRB) then you should not have compassion for your partner in public, even when I had pity on thee?
(DRB Mat 18:34) And his lord being angry, delivered him to the torturers until he paid the entire debt.
After telling the parable of Christ is emphasized in his message not to be confused with this warning … … ..
(DRB Matthew 18:35) So also my heavenly Father will do so, if not each forgive your brother from your heart.
Christ is warning us of the danger of a hard heart or anger that we are willing to forgive others. We must recognize that these are the signs and the example of a defect in need of purging the soul so that it may be imperfect in the presence of God and live in the glory. (See CCC 1030-1032)

Because they have enough money you can afford to waste their time.
do it your way and I'll do mine.
you're just jealous is all.
You're dealing with idolatry in these unbiblical answers here. You know that Catholicism is not true biblical Christianity.
you know that "similar questions" box? it's there for a reason.
to show how this is to me:
"Why ask for prayers for the Protestants? can not only pray for themselves? Is not asking prayers for the sick against the will of God?
ironically, for answering my question that will answer your own.
and pray for the dead do not change its ruling. the dead who were being prayed for in purgatory, purgatory and go to Heaven. The ruling was made.

we pray for the dead has gone to heaven, God and Mary and I have been misinformed, and you can always tell the person who has died or it may he rest in peace.
Catholics pray for the dead because they believe in a place called Purgatory, which is not heaven or hell, but it is like hell, but with enough prayers to get out that they believe in purgatory, and go to heaven.
What is the point of any sentence, whether to trust God to do the right thing anyway?
not ask anyone to pray for you then.
Do not.
I think it's so funny when I see that good old Christian love (NO) aimed at other Christians.
By attacking each other are a testimony to the true nature of their religion.
Congratulations.
Everyone who sees this issue now know without doubt that an attack on all Christians, even from each other.
Is the body that dies, not the spirit. "To be absent from the body is being present with the Lord." You do not have to believe Catholic doctrine, however it seems that attack. We are all children of God. If you are making a mistake, they are the answer for it, and if a mistake is you who will answer for it. I think they are zealous for God, however, in their zeal, not attacking other believers. Do you think as a Christian, it is your job to the whole world believes that the doctrine of their church, or is your job to non-believers to carry the cross?
