Why Catholics Pray the Rosary "Hail Mary Mother of God" 10 times and only one "Our Father"?
It is part of the Rosary. It is part of a series of sentences that we, as Catholics, for example.
Do not worship Mary. We honor Mary. It really is different. You know when you ask people to pray for you? Same concept.
- And Catholics pray to Mary, the rosary?
- Why Catholics pray the rosary, confess their sins to priests and pray to saints?
- Who says Catholics can not pray the Rosary?!?
- Do you pray to Mary, Mother of God, Jesus? Why some Christians do not recognize as the Mother of God?
- Catholics. Why pray to Mary? She is dead. Do you not think that God must be the only one Praying For You?

Mr. John, the Rosary is a prayer to the Virgin when he asked his mother for help. Because the rosary is five decades of Hail Mary, rosary beads used to help us keep track. Began with the rosary to Saint Dominic saw the Virgin Mary appeared to him. It is the most common prayer in the Catholic Church. I love it.
Do Catholics pray spontaneously and from the heart "as any other Christian. We do not reach for the rosary, when we pray. But what we do when we pray while meditating on the life of Christ in this devotion.
We say the prayer not as an empty repetition, but a means to reduce the distractions that often interferes with prayer time. This allows us to think and become more of the events in the life of Christ - in praise of wonder and gratitude.
Why not bash Catholics that if they do not know anything about it
The important number to remember is 150. There are 150 psalms in the Old Testament and the monks used to have a devotion in which they memorized and chanted the 150 psalms in daily prayer.
Common people can not do that, used to pray 150 Our Fathers. Later, the practice of prayer to the sky through her intercession became popular, and our parents were replaced with 150 of 150 Mary Ave.
To add significance and meaning to the prayers of intercession, meditation on the events in the life of Jesus in the Gospels, or "mysteries" were part of the sentence. 150 is divided into 10 or 5 times, so a rosary consists of 5 mysteries in which 10 Ave Maria while he prayed and reflected a person meditates on the mysteries.

Catholics may be offended by this question because I read some of his other answers and know where you are coming from.
Well, here we go … I guess they have not seen the other 10,000 along this line of questions here at R & S. The Rosary is not Mary worship is worship of God (The Father and Jesus). Each mystery is Scripturally basa, telling every other part of Jesus' life, death and resurrection. Mary was an important part of that, and the words to the Hail Mary BASED Book! The Our Father is the beginning of the Rosary is said each mystery, and I think you're forgetting that the Gloria is said also, beginning, middle and end.
Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, now and ever, for ever and ever. Amen.
There are thousands of Catholic education in prayer that we pray to God directly, whether God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.
There are many formal Catholic prayers in which we ask one or another saint to pray to God for us.
There are a couple of dozens of official Catholic prayers in which we ask a particular saint, the Blessed Virgin Mary, to pray to God for us.
The Rosary has become in its present form during the last 1000 years. It is difficult to document the "why" of every little change. Here is a story of the rosary: http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/13184b.h …
• • The Hail Mary Prayer
"Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with thee" (Luke 1:28)
"Blessed are you among women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb "(Luke 1:42).
The Hail Mary prayer simply recites passages from the Bible (the Word of God) and asks Mary to pray for us:
Hail Mary full of grace, the Lord is with you. (These are the words that the angel Gabriel said to Mary, a Bible quote.)
Blessed are you among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. (This is Mary's cousin Elizabeth's greeting, another biblical quotation.)
Santa Maria, (The angel Gabriel said he was full of grace and Elizabeth says he was blessed.)
Mother of God (the Bible says that Mary is the mother of Jesus Christ, the Son of God)
Pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. (A simple request to pray for us.)
Amen.

• With love in Christ.
First things first!
**************** ***************** DRINK …
First you must understand that they are meditations. When Catholics recite the twelve prayers that form a string of the decade, to meditate on the mystery associated with that decade. If you are limited to recite prayers, either orally or silently, you're missing the essence of the Rosary. It is not just a recitation of prayers, but a meditation on the grace of God. Critics, not knowing about the meditation part, imagine the rosary must be boring, uselessly repetitious and meaningless, and their criticism carries weight reduction if the rosary to a formula. Christ forbade sense of repetition (Matthew 6:7), but the Bible itself prescribes some prayers that involve repetition. See Psalm 136, which is a prayer (a prayer with a recurring refrain) to be sung in the Jewish Temple. In the psalm is the refrain "His mercy is forever." Psalm 136 times in the refrain starts before a sentence is completed, which means it's more repetitive rosary, but this sentence was written under the direct inspiration of God.
It is the meditation on the mysteries of the rosary, which gives it staying power. These are the Joyful Mysteries: the Annunciation (Luke 1:26-38), the Visitation (Luke 1:40-56), the Nativity (Luke 2:6-20) The Presentation of Jesus in the Temple (Luke 2: 21-39), and the finding of the baby Jesus in the Temple (Luke 2:41-51).
Then come the painful mysteries: the Agony in the Garden (Matthew 26:36-46), flogging (Matthew 27:26), the crown of thorns (Matthew 27:29), transport of the Cross (John 19:17 ), and the Crucifixion (Luke 23:33-46).
The latter are the glorious mysteries: the Resurrection (Luke 24:1-12), the Ascension (Luke 24:50-51), the Descent of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:1-4)
The Ave Maria is centered on Jesus Christ and the Rosary, far from being unbiblical, it's really a beautiful way of prayer Scripture leads us closer to him.
In his apostolic letter on the Rosary, Rosarium Virginis Mariae, Pope John Paul II emphasized that this sentence is intended to focus our attention on Jesus Christ:
Despite the repeated Hail Mary is addressed directly to Mary, Jesus, is that the act of love is ultimately directed (RVM 26).
In the middle of the Hail Mary is the holy name of Jesus: "And blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus." The Hail Mary leads us to the person of Jesus, and in the middle of this sentence is about his sacred name with reverence and with love.
John Paul II that is similar to the "Prayer of Jesus" that people have recited for centuries: Christians slowly repeated the words "Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on us," often in the rhythm of your breathing . He whispered again and again, this sentence calm the mind so that we may be more willing to meet with God in prayer. It helps keep the warning of Psalm 46:10: "Be still and know that I am God."
The succession of Hail Marys in the rosary achieves the same purpose. Anyone who prays the rosary, known to the cadence of peace created by the repetition of prayers is slowing our minds and spirits and focuses our attention so we can prayerfully reflect on different aspects of the life of Christ.
We have an intimate personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Reciting the Hail Mary in the rosary, we again and again in the wonder-filled response from Elizabeth and Gabriel with the mystery of Christ. Heel heel then ask Mary to pray for us that we can get closer to her Son. And above all, prayer after prayer, we speak the name of our dearly beloved in the center of each Hail Mary: "Blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus … Jesus … Jesus. "The holy name of Jesus, repeated with tender love, is the heartbeat of the entire Rosary.
Hmm. So now not only rosario people have a problem, but how many times they say a prayer?
Here is another prayer that says six times:
Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, now and forever, for ever and ever. Amen.
And another:
Oh my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell and lead all souls to heaven especially those most in need of your mercy. Amen.
The latter refers to an entire world, including those still trying to read something in this (optional) devotion to the Church - who have no intention of assuming for themselves, but certainly does not hurt - which is not there.
Edit: Not offended, just figured that someone who claimed he used to be Catholic would have any reason to call others to this curiosity. (Psst: the Catholics that "kind of statement from you, too, Jack) http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index …
I understand that growing up is because the string is devoted to Mary, Mother of God. She should not be worshiped, but used as the intercessor between man and God and Jesus.
it is because Mary made a nun and a monk the rosary in the first place.
They (being monks and nuns) used to say all psams but Maria del Rosario gave rise.
Because the power of "our father" is at least ten times that of the "Ave Maria"?
I dunno, Im just guessing. Sounds good, but is not it?
One for each account.
The other is more special. Top. Do not repeat again and again, without rhyme or reason.
We are quoting the Bible. Do you have a problem with that?
From Rosario consists mainly in the bottom of the prayer of Christ and the Angelic treatment, ie, the Our Father and Hail Mary, is undoubtedly the first sentence and the principal devotion of the faithful and has been use all through the centuries since the time of the apostles and disciples of today.
It was not until 1214, however, that the Church received the Rosary in its present form and according to the method we use today. It was given to the Church of Santo Domingo, he had received from the Blessed Virgin as a means of converting the Albigensian and other sinners.
I will tell the story of how he received, which is located in the famous book De Dignitate Psalterii, by Blessed Alan de la Roche. Santo Domingo, in view of the severity of people's sins was hindering the conversion of the Albigensian, withdrew into a forest near Toulouse where he prayed continuously for three days and three nights. During this time did nothing but mourn and harsh penances in order to appease the wrath of God. He used his discipline so much that his body was lacerated, and finally fell into a coma.
At this point, the Virgin appeared to him, accompanied by three angels, and she said, "Hello Sunday, do you know which weapon the Blessed Trinity wants to use to reform the world?" "Oh, Madam," answered Santo Domingo, "you know better than me, because next to your Son Jesus Christ who has always been the main instrument of our salvation."
Then Our Lady replied: "I want you to know that in this kind of war, the principal weapon has always been the Angelic Psalter, which is the cornerstone of the New Testament. Therefore, if you want to reach these hardened souls and win them over to God, preach my Psalter. "
It emerged that, comforted, and burning with zeal for the conversion of the people of this district, made directly to the cathedral. At the same time unseen angels rang the bell to assemble the people, Santo Domingo and began to preach.
At the beginning of his sermon, a terrible storm broke out, the earth shook, the sun will be darkened, and there was much thunder and lightning were all very scared. Even greater is his fear when, looking at a picture of Our Lady exposed in a prominent place, they saw the sky raise your arms three times to call for the vengeance of God on them if they do not become, to change their lives and seek the protection of the holy Mother of God.
God wished, by means of these supernatural phenomena, to spread the new devotion of the Rosary and to make it more widely known.
Finally, the prayer of Saint Dominic, the storm came to an end, and went on preaching. So fervently and compellingly did explain the importance and value of the Rosary that almost all the people of Toulouse embraced and renounced their false beliefs. In a very short time a great improvement was seen in the city, people began leading Christian lives and gave up their former bad habits.
Inspired by the Holy Spirit, as instructed by the Blessed Virgin, as well as his own experience, Saint Dominic preached the Rosary for the rest of his life. Preached by his example and by his sermons, in cities and places in the country, people from the high and low, before scholars and the uneducated, to Catholics and heretics.
El Rosario, who said that every day, was his preparation for every sermon and his little rendezvous with Madonna after preaching.
One day he had to preach at Notre-Dame de Paris, and became the feast of St. John the Evangelist. It was in a small chapel behind the altar prayerfully preparing his sermon by saying the Rosary, as it always did, when the Virgin appeared to him and said: "Sunday, despite what they have planned to say may be very good I'm so much better than a sermon. "
Santo Domingo was in his hands the book of the Virgin uttered by reading through the sermon and, when understood and meditated on it, he thanked her.
When the time came, he went up into the pulpit and, despite the party, not to mention that San Juan is not to say that he had been found worthy of being the guardian of the Queen of Heaven. The congregation is made up of theologians and other eminent persons, which were used to hearing unusual and polished discourses, but Santo Domingo told them that was not his desire to give a learned discourse, wise in the eyes of the world, but will use the word in the simplicity of the Holy Spirit and with his forcefulness.
So I began to preach the Rosary and the Hail Mary word by word says speaker at a group of children, and used to be very simple illustrations in the book that gave the Virgin.
Blessed Alan, according to Cartagena, mentioned on several other occasions when our Lord and the Virgin appeared to Saint Dominic to urge him and inspire him to preach the Rosary more and more in order to remove the sin and the conversion of sinners and heretics. Cartagena said in another passage, "said Alan Blessed Virgin revealed that, after she had appeared to Saint Dominic, her blessed Son appeared to him and said," Sunday, I am glad to see that you are not confident their own wisdom and, instead of looking for empty praise of men, which is working with great humility for the salvation of souls.
" 'But many priests want to preach thunderously against the worst forms of sin in the beginning, do not realize that with a sick person is bitter medicine, must be prepared by being put into the right frame of mind To really benefit from it.
" 'So, before doing anything else, priests should try to ignite a love of prayer in people's hearts and, above all, a love of my Angelic Psalter. If only all those who begin by saying that and really persevere, God in his mercy could hardly refuse to give them grace. So I want you to preach my Rosary. "
All things, even the holiest, are subject to change, especially when they depend on the free will of man. Not to question, then, that the Confraternity of the Holy Rosary only retained its first fervor of a century after it was created by Santo Domingo. After this was like a thing buried and forgotten.
Undoubtedly, too, the jealousy and the evil machinations of the devil were largely responsible for the people to neglect the Rosary, and thus block the flow of God's grace that had been inspired by the world.
Thus, in 1349 God punishes the whole Europe, with the most terrible plague that has been known. From this, it spread throughout Italy, Germany, France, Poland and Hungary, bringing desolation of what was, through a hundred men hardly one lived to tell the story. Major cities, towns, villages and monasteries were almost completely deserted during the three years of the epidemic.
This scourge of God was quickly followed by two others, the heresy of Flagellants and a tragic schism in 1376.
Later, when these trials were over, thanks to the mercy of God, Our Lady told Blessed Alan to revive the ancient Confraternity of the Holy Rosary. Blessed Alan was one of the Dominican Fathers at the monastery of Dinan in Brittany. Was an eminent theologian and a famous preacher. Our Lady chose him because, since the Brotherhood had begun in this province, it was fitting that a Dominican from the same province should have the honor of re-establishment.
Blessed Alan began this great work in 1460, after a special warning from our Lord. This is how it received the message urgent, as he himself says:
One day when he was offering Mass, our Lord, to encourage him to preach the Holy Rosary, spoke to him in the Sacred Host. "How can you crucify again so soon?" Jesus said. "What you say, Lord?" Blessed Alan asked, horrified. "You crucified me once for their sins," answered Jesus, "and I like to be crucified again rather than have my Father offended by the sins you used to commit. You are crucifying me now because it has all the learning and understanding you need to preach my Mother of the Rosary, and you are not doing. If you only did that, you could teach many souls the right path and lead them away from sin. However, you are doing and what you are guilty of the sins they commit. "
This terrible reproach made Blessed Alan solemnly resolve to preach the Rosary unceasingly.
Our Lady also told one day that inspired him to preach the Rosary more and more, "You were a great sinner in your youth, but I got the grace of conversion for my son. Has this been possible, I would have liked to have gone through all kinds of suffering to save because converted sinners are a glory for me. And I would have done that for you worthy of preaching my Rosary throughout.
Santo Domingo appeared to Blessed Alan as well and told him of the great results of his ministry: he had preached the Rosary unceasingly, his sermons have been great fruit and many people have become during their missions.
Blessed Alan said, "Look what I've had wonderful results through the preaching of the Rosary. You and all who love the Virgin must do the same so that, through this holy practice of the Rosary, you can call all people to the virtues of true science. "
In summary, then, this is the story of how Saint Dominic established the Holy Rosary and of how Blessed Alan de la Roche is restored.
same reason we pray to idols. they worship a different God. and not the God of Jesus, the one that killed it will not allow a Jewish THO as King even before his own religion, Christianity said newborn king born under a star.
Who cares, its blasphemy to say that Mary is the Mother of God, as it implies that someone other than God is God (which refer to Jesus in that statement).
if you believe that trinity thing, I have a bridge to sell you ….
Because the cult of Mary (of course not the real Mary, the real Mary rejected his cult)
Your question is an insult to the most sensitive to Catholics around the world.
mary most venerated because of God that is idolary.
Have you ever met a woman who heard the first time?
(Oh man, I'm gonna catch hell for that one .. but could not pass the joke … Heeheehee)
