Not to approve the 2nd commandment of kissing and bowing to idols?
"Do you taxed any image or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the soil or in the waters under the earth:"-Exodus 20:4

Catholics do not worship statues. Do not believe everything that is said. Go attend a mass and see how many people are kissing the feet of the statues, as you say. My guess is that I do not see at all. I have not, and I have attended many masses. I am not a Roman Catholic, but have some in my family, and I am a little tired of the Catholic chronic hitting.

  2. Abu Bakr says:

    Not all Christians do that?
Plus: wats up with bad grades? Just askin a question.

I really do not know why the power of God can undo what was written in the Old Testament. In any case, as Jesus began to reverse and not omitting the addition of words to all the commandments of God and Jesus and his Apostles authorized Pedro especially that which bound on earth shall be bound in heaven " ; I think that gave the Catholic hierarchy to add, change and omit any of the writings in the will. And through its doctrines that made the decree of Pope as infallible, therefore, felt that even the fans were given the right to accuse the hierarchy to be so difficult to understand some of their demands as abortion, gay marriage and al. as if they were members of a union. My argument is that, why even pick up the chapters and verses of the Old Testament in each of the masses who have left the bulk of the teaching that God declared that it will not be changed by the time he lived. Do you feel that 666 is not the inverse of 999? So who do you think is the beast?

Your feedback is welcome, especially if people take this to an end as a replacement for G * d. That said, Jesus is G * d. With respect to the statues of saints, etc, have a good point. However, the saints, Mary, etc. …. is recognized as "Angels" of the Lord, not higher. The display is to remind people to pray and look for the attributes and actions of Christ, as the saints.

  5. Lives7 says:

Is that why the Blessed Solomon Temple of God in all its glory?
What do you think that Ark of the Covenant with fine ornaments to God's instructions to create?
Their fanaticism does not comply with the bible you claim to honor.
Is the ink on the page that you worship or the heart of the message of Christ.
Many hate what they see of the Catholic religion, not the truth of Catholicism.
      Exploring the fear!

  6. impossbl says:

Abu …. no, not all Christians do. Catholicism does, Episcopal and Lutheran, but they do it because they really are Catholics, but priests can marry.
After a cross is idolatry unless you bow to that cross. Pictures and statues are nothing more than the art unless they undergo, show honor or treating it as something more than art. God does not forbid images to see, but to worship.
Ex 20:3-5 3Thou will have no other gods before Me.
Do you 4Thou taxing any image or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the soil or in the waters under the earth.
    5Thou you shall not bow down to them nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers to the children unto the third and fourth generations of those who hate me;

  7. imacatho says:

Do you have pictures of their loved ones?
Statues and images of people we love are not idols.
Statues and paintings of Jesus and the saints are like photographs of the people you love and respect.
The King James Version of the Bible, in Exodus 20:4 says: "Do you taxed any image or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth, or that is in the water under the earth "
Why the Jews were commanded not to encumber the images? Imposed images were the standard method of pagan worship. Representations were false gods.
This is a very clear command.
But the Jews God in Exodus 25:18 and 1 Chronicles 28:18-19, "And thou shalt make two cherubims of gold, of beaten work shalt thou will"
And in 1 Kings chapter 7 Solomon made bulls and other images of precious metals.
It seems clear that the Jews do not worship and cherubims Solomon did not worship the bulls he had done. These images did not violate the command of God. Therefore, an image is not acceptable for worship.
In Numbers 21:8-9, "And the LORD said to Moses," Make a saraph and mounted on a stick, and if someone has been bitten in the sights, he will recover. "Moses accordingly made a bronze serpent and mounted on a pole and whenever anyone who had been bitten by a serpent looked at the bronze serpent, he recovered."
And in John 3:14-15, Jesus says in the correlation, "And as Moses lifted the [image of a] serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted so that the whole world that cree in it can have eternal life. "
How can a statue of our Lord Jesus Christ died on the cross is seen as an idol to a false god? A crucifix is the message of the Gospel without words, remained in sight of all, a visual reminder of the sacrifice of Jesus, not unlike a painting, a play or a movie.
Catholics do not worship statues but the almighty God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
      With love in Christ.

  8. Daver says:

    Pictures and statues
Deut. 4:15 - from this verse, Protestants say that since he saw "no way" the Lord, do not burden the pictures of him.
Deut. 4:16 - of course, early in the history of Israel is forbidden to make images of God because God is not revealed himself yet visible "in the form of any shape."
Deut. 4:17-19 - Therefore, the Israelites had not yet represented God revealed, that might be tempted to worship him as a beast, bird, reptile or fish, which is a common mistake of the times.
Exodus 3:2-3; Dan 7:9, Matt. 3:16, Mark 1:10, Luke 3:22, John 1:32, Acts 2:3 - later, however, we see that God revealed Himself in visible form (as a dove, fire, etc.).
Deut. 5:8 - God's commandment "thou shall not encumber an image" is entirely connected to the worship of false gods. God does not prohibit images to be used in worship, but forbids the images to be worshiped.
Exodus 25:18-22, 26:1,31 - for example, God orders the making of the image of the cherubim of gold. This heavenly image, of course, is not adored by the Israelites. However, the picture has their minds and call a supernatural God.
Num 21:8-9 - God also commands the making of the bronze serpent. The image of the bronze serpent is not an idol to be worshiped, but an article that raises the spirit to the supernatural.
I Kings 6:23-36, 7:27-39, 8:6-67 - Solomon's temple contains statues and images of cherubim cherubim, lions and oxen. God does not condemn these images that were used in worship.
2 Kings 18:4 - it was only when people started to worship the statue did incur the wrath of God and the king destroyed it. The command prohibits the use of images to tax applies only to the false worship of those images.
1 Chron. 28:18-19 - David Solomon is the plan for the refining of gold altar with images of cherubim of gold. These images were used in the Jews most solemn place of worship.
2 Chron. 3:7-14 - the house was lined with gold elaborate cherubim carved in wood and coated with gold.
Ezekiel. 41:15 - Ezekiel describes imposed images in the temple has carvings of cherubs appear. These are similar to the images of angels and saints in many Catholic churches.
Col. 1:15 - the only image of God that Catholics worship is Jesus Christ who is the "image" (Greek "Eikon") of the invisible God.
      Relics
Mark 15:43, John 19:38 - Joseph of Arimathea requested the dead body of Christ instead of leaving it to the Romans. Joseph gave reverence to our Lord the body.
Mark 16:1, Luke 24:1 - the woman came to anoint the body of Christ even though it had been sealed in the tomb.
John 19:39 - Nicodemus donated over one hundred pounds of spices to wrap Jesus in grave clothes. This is also the worship of the Lord's body.
Matt. 9:21, Mark 5:28 - the woman with the bleeding edge only sought the mantle of Christ and is cured. This shows that God uses physical things to effect the supernatural.
Acts 19:11-12 - Paul handkerchiefs healed the sick and those with evil spirits. This is another example of making physical things physical and spiritual healings.
Acts 5:15 - Peter's shadow healed the sick. This shows that the relics of the saints have supernatural healing powers, and this belief has been part of the Catholic tradition for 2,000 years.
Rev. 6:9 - the souls of the martyrs are seen under the heavenly altar. Their bones are often below the altars of Catholic churches around the world.
2 Kings 13:21 - Elisha's bones than a man back to life. The saints' bones are often kept under the altar of Catholic churches and led to supernatural healings throughout the Christian age.
Rom. 13:7, Phil. 2:25-29, Heb. 3:3, 1 Pet. 2:7 - we are taught to honor God's people and in 1 Cor. 4:16-17, 1 Cor. 11:1-2, Phil. 3:17, 1 Thess. 1:6, 2 Thess. 3:7, Heb. 6:12, Heb. 13:7, James 5:10-11 - reminds us to follow suit. Maintenance of the relics of the saints is to imitate and honor their heroic faith in Christ (like articles keeping honor deceased loved ones and help us to imitate).
      Holy Water
Ex. 29:4, Lev. 8:6 - Aaron and his sons were washed in holy water in their consecration to the priesthood. Therefore, we see the use of holy water during the beginning of salvation history.
Ex 30:18-19 - Mr. Aaron and his sons needed to wash their hands and feet in holy water before they are offered sacrifices. The Church uses holy water for various purposes, and holy water sources are located at the entrance of the Catholic Church to be used before the sacrifice of Christ offered to the Father.
Num 5:17 - Once again, the priest uses holy water. God uses nature to convey the supernatural subject like God who is Spirit became flesh in Christ Jesus.
Num 8:7 - God says to "sprinkle with water from the referral." The Lord uses water, a physical property, to transfer ownership of grace.
1 Kings 7:38-39 - King in the temple of Solomon, there were ten large basins of holy water. Holy water has always been used in the context of worship.
John 9:6-7 - Jesus used clay and spit to heal the eyes of the blind, and ordered him to wash in the Pool of Siloam for the cure. Jesus does not need to use saliva, mud and water but what you do to show that God uses material things created to give thanks and heal us.
John 13:4-10 - God uses water to wash the feet of the apostles to prepare them for their sacramental priesthood.
John 19:34 - the water and the blood of Jesus' pierced side on the Cross. The Church uses holy water as a symbol of our Lord's life giving water that flowed from his sacred heart, and as a property that brings the power of Jesus Christ himself, in baptism, the Eucharist, and other sacred rituals of the Church .

  9. arveen paria arasuk says:

Catholics worship the idol is not only a symbol for Christians suffering that Jesus Christ has to suffer for humanity to be forgiven without

  10. sunestauromai (συνεσταύρωμαι) says:

The second commandment is no longer in effect (Ephesians 2:15, etc.), but idol worship is clearly condemned in the New Testament.
Romans 1:23 They do not have the statues of the gods that the glorious God who lives forever. His statues of gods are like humans, birds, animals and reptiles.

  11. Bob L says:

I will pray to Jesus directly, because none of the others are from God.
      1 Timothy 2:5 For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;

  12. Baby Poots says:

Catholics are not "kneel" to the images of Mary or any of the apostles and saints. Catholics pray to God / Jesus through Mary and the saints recognized by the Catholic Church.
Mary was the mother of Jesus, recognized by Christianity as the Son of God, chosen by God to be the mother of Jesus. Mary was one of the few physically taken from their homeland in heaven to be with God and his son, Jesus. Catholics have, as God must have had a reverence for Mary.
When the book of Exodus was written, Mary, Joseph, the Saints, or Jesus was not even born. Referred to the idols in the books of the Old Testament refer to images of animals deification and sanctification.

  13. lookn2cj says:

Perhaps not rely on someone else to read the Bible for themselves, they will realize how wrong it is …..

  14. YDoncha_ says:

Yes, but this is OT and not pay attention to that part. Havent you heard? Like Tide Detergent, God's new and improved!
A better question is why the first four commandments deal specifically with PISSING not God - and then claim that all Christians go through the moral of the ten commandments …. four of them have nothing to do with morality! And the last proof that God does not have much of a future where only the man and his wife greed neighbors house ….

  15. J.P. says:

At the same interpretation, through a cross Protestants would then an idol too. The cross is a 'thing' and is part of the land.
Funny that most Protestants claim that Christ puts an end to the law of the Old Testament, however, dating back to the ancient faith of dig this.

  16. Li says:

thats all very well know that what is wrong with him? What is the question?
